"Before that first International [in 2011], I really enjoyed the game, but after The International, I loved the game. It's not just the game I love, but the community. Sure, people talk shit at me in chat and about once a week, people say, 'Hey, noob, uninstall the game and [bleeped out],' but that's really about their enthusiasm for the game and the energy that they bring. And that's why after all these years, I still play Dota every day," Newell said.

I mean, if you're still shit after 14+ years of playing the game...

Never really got into DOTA2, only played it for like 10hours.
LOL on the other hand, probably 300h or more before I quit. Riot changed how the regions worked and Swedish players suddenly found themselves playing with Eastern Europeans and Russians. The amount of cancer, Cyrillic text in the chat and rage-quitting increased by 1000%. Ok... Bye!
This was when Poppy still looked like a Pug, it's been a long time.

Same gabe. I even play in immortal but people still call me a noob and that I should kill myself every day. It's good for the soul, I think, and I think what they are actually trying to say is that they love me

Who would have thought that people that play MOBAs are toxic? Never heard of this before.

Next you're gonna tell me fans of Smash don't shower.

Good , he needs to stop playing that trash and get to work on Half-life 3. This is why we don't have half-life 3, he'd rather play multiplayer and sell micros.

I never understood the appeal for mobas. They single handedly killed RTS, which was single and multiplayer in one game for always online gaas.
I think of all the cool rts games and sequels we could of had (empire at war 2, Battle for middle earth 3, warcraft 4, or weird games like Black and white 3).

I play Dota 2 (casually) and I can confirm this is a common thing, people asking you to uninstall the game.

To be honest the Dota 2 playerbase can be really insufferable. The game is great, but the community is... really something else.

They have such strange behaviours.
They will ask you to uninstall the game, but this doesn't make any sense, they didn't see your previous games, they probably do bad matches every now and then too, should you uninstall it and never play again as soon as you do one bad match? I never understood how that's supposed to work.

Another thing they do is that they're really willing to waste your and their own time, if they're not happy. They can really act like crying babies.

For example, if some people in the team do something that one guy didn't want, he might get mad, and give up on trying. They will say "Ok I go afk", except here AFK doesn't mean actual afk, because they need to stay active to not receive an abandon. so what they do is they go in the jungle, and just grind there by killing mobs. They don't participate to the match anymore, they just grind... for no reason, they're willing to waste 30 minutes just staying in the match but not actually participating, because they're mad you didn't listen to them.

They're insane and it's actually really, really common. I didn't play the game for about a year until few months ago, because I needed a break from that.

Most of the people playing Dota 2 are strangely actually ONLY playing Dota 2. If you check the profile pages of people in games, they often have very bland profiles, with no other games, sometimes not even a profile picture, it's really strange. Really different time of gamer.

And after he uninstalls the game....he's still a billionaire playing the game on a fuck you yacht. The best DOTA gamer probably peaked in life with his skill at DOTA with his trusty Cheeto dusted keyboard. Gabe can have satisfaction in that.

Tell me you are in Bronze without telling me you are in Bronze.

The only MOBA game I really got into was Heroes of the Storm. I really enjoyed that and how fast the games were (this was a time when it was impossible to get a LoL game shorter than 45 minutes), the drawback of this was that things were snowballing SO FAST it was almost impossible to reverse the course.

Trash genre of games with an even trashier fanbase.

Valve chasing the trend with DOTA2 back in the day was the worst thing they ever did.

There are great videos of the Hunt: Showdown dev getting shit on at his own game. He regularly was doing streams and he would get destroyed and get annoyed at his own game.

I played this game for around 500 hours total. Managed to my rank up to Divine during that time before i realised the skill jump from Divine upwards to Immortal was going to be giant, too much of a comitment. The skill gap between Immortal and Divine made me question how anyone can possibly get that good at a game. You'd have to play it 247
