Charlie Kirk assassinated at Utah campus event

Quite of few of that lately, right? Extremely convenient, another "victim of the system". Funny how that mental condition aims always at the same targets.
Who are those "same targets" ...kids in school shootings, random people in a Walmart, etc etc? No one is off limits in this country any day of the week. Where have you been.

Anyway, does that change anything about the crowds chanting his name?
I invite you to look into the political beliefs of the man who shot at Trump and the man who killed the state senator. You might be surprised.

Do you actually believe this or was that you just letting off some steam?

Facts. If this one is confirmed, it would be the third in the last few days:

- A Ukrainian girl stabbed in the train.

- A conservative figure.

- Children in a christian school.

Two of the three are confirmed as ideological crimes by the perpetrators. We need to renew those excuses. The only mental condition are of those excusing these barbarians.

It's pure irony that the left media was ranting about fans of the Joker movie for years, just to act exactly the same way when their own Joker becomes reality.

Damn, so you actually meant it. Deeply ridiculous.

This is one of those moments that could really change America society. Obviously the stated motives of the shooter, if any come to light, can influence this, but I think this COULD be one of those times we see a massive pull back on violence 'allowed' on TV, in video games, gun ownership, etc. With republicans in charge I think you won't see physical gun ownership attacked so much as harsher restrictions on violence (and by extension, sex/swearing) in media, particularly anything accessible by kids. The age verification stuff for the internet is gonna get a big push. The groundwork for a "violent media makes for a violent society" has been laid down for DECADES and ebbs and flows, I feel like this is gonna be a time of flow.

Not necessarily a bad thing either. The STARK difference between casual tv violence/gore today versus when I go back to 80's stuff is shocking. Most of this is just due to budgets for effects probably, as film certainly had a high level of gore, but what you see in games/tv today is insanely realistic compared to yesteryear. The latest Sniper Elite game.....woooooow. Fun for me as an adult and I used to work in that field, but I have to be careful with it when my kids are around and I am more willing to accept the notion that that level of graphic violence can alter perceptions of folks and desensitize them to it. And not just showing the act, but having "Heroic" characters that resort to violence FIRST, making the notion of violence as the definitive answer to opposition a noble/glorious one.

I also think the immediacy of the videos posted showing a graphic killing will prompt calls for social media to censor more, also probably a good thing. I've definitely been fed an instagram rabbit hole of just people getting killed in industrial or automotive accidents, or during robberies and stuff. You used to have to hunt through seedy video stores of a worn out copy of a "Faces of Death" vhs to see even a FRACTION of the stuff you can get on instagram.

the state senator I read was personally motivated. Like they actually knew each other. If you're trying to insinuate the Trump shooter was a Trump supporter, well that makes zero sense at all

She went on to say quite correctly:

I think Trump said the father persuaded him to turn himself in.

He's probably a danger to himself and to others. Just another mentally ill guy with a gun rather than a hitman hired by Resetera - Civil War postponed.

At the risk of sounding overly pessimistic or radical, I really wouldn't count on it.

I feel like this specific event is going to have immense consequences down the line, and I don't think any of it is going to be good.

The fundamental issue in my mind is that this act symbolically represents the end of the possibility of free and open discourse between the two sides. Civility, has been shown to be a pretense, and so the only currency going forward will become the application of force in one way or another.

Why is the games industry so far left?

I suspect a part of it has to do with screen time, which leads to isolation, reduced testosterone, reduced vitamin D.

Imagine being chained to grocery checkout at a supermarket in the 90s. Everyone's walking past you so you only have Bat Boy National Enquirerer rags to satiate your mental state. Eventually, Bat Boy becomes the most important thing in your life.

We don't know anything about him yet, but let's not kid ourselves, the chances of this kid being an ultra progressive left wing nutjob are pretty low right now.

I'll just clarify, even if he was - that isn't an excuse to implicate half the country. I hope everyone learns this lesson, sincerely.

Does that even matter anymore ? The real story, the real damage, is in the reaction to the killing producing a massive radicalizing effect on the right.

Very Interesting thoughts but not gonna happen imo.

" A violent media makes a violent society"
Well the violent crime/murder rate was way higher in the 80's than today....and that would also mean pretty much every country is violent. Look at South Korea, they have some of the most violent movies and tv shows I've ever seen. Their thrillers are way more hardcore than even many of ours.

I'd be pleasantly surprised to see real graphic videos get censored on social media tho.

I feel for his family. They are going to be bombarded with threats and potentially even be outcast in their own community for what the son did. The ripple effects of homicide are vast and in addition to the actual victim and their families, there are a lot of people who are going to feel the effects of this one selfish demented act.
