If they have nothing new to show or release dates of already announced games they can skip it.
They've always shown something new (and/or something we have not seen in a very long time) from first-party at the end of every State of Play since the January 2024 one:
  • Jan. '24: Death Stranding 2 & Physint
  • May '24: Astro Bot
  • Sep. '24: Ghost of Yotei
  • Feb. '25: Saros
  • Jun. '25: Marvel Tokon

Bloodborne Remaster PLEASE.

I'm almost out of clown paint and I don't want to restock.

What does Sony currently have cooking? There is Yotei (no), Wolverine (another Marvel thing, meh) and Marathon (not my thing). Anything else I am missing? Soros is still a bit off, right?
That's probably early next year.

I hope a showcase but i'm sure a SOP.

Since they started doing their state of play, their communication has been crap.

I wish I could drum up some excitement for this, but I seriously cannot remember the last state of play that got me really excited for their games. I'm going to go in hoping for the best, but I expect to come away disappointed.

Off the top of my head, my bingo card has Yotei, souls like games, Wolverine, Marathon, Astro Bot DLC (more levels or costumes) and maybe something on Saros.

I would really love to see Sony actually open up their IP treasure chest and start to make some games based on some of their older IP. Wipeout, Warhawk, Killzone, Twisted Metal, SOCOM etc.
The last one with Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, 007: First Light, Pragmata, Nioh 3, Silent Hill f, Metal Gear Solid Delta, Final Fantasy Tactics, @Suda51, Lumines, Bloodstained, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, Thief VR, Everybody's Golf and more Astro Bot levels was disappointing? Really?

Remember, these State of Play are not the equivalents to the E3 conferences of old. You just can't go in expecting to see more Intergalactic, Wolverine, Saros, Cory's game, Horizon III and Gran Turismo 8, all at once.

That's not a bad rhythm when you list it out that way. Kinda goes to show that if they did less SOPs and just lumped those drops into two separate shows a year, it'll probably have a bigger impact with us online crazies.

Sony needs to show Fairgame$, Marathon, Project Gummy Bears!!

Yeah right! Like there's even one thing to get excited about a State of Play much less Showcase. This gen has been al about Third parties. Even Konami of all publishers released something that people were excited about.

This

I just want to see Ace Combat 8

It's pisses me off that Sony won't do those type of events anymore. It's rather crazy to me. It's like they don't want to appear as the gaming company that wants to dominate in the single-player game space PR-wise.

And you forgot about the rumored God of War side-scrolling game. What happened to the blow out events?

$3.5 billion on Bungie, 12 GAAS and Totoki penny-pinching happened.

Hopefully they announce a God of War metroidvania. Third party wise could we maybe get a glimpse of KH4?

Waypoints everywhere, detective vision, automated parkour, stealth elements with button prompts that tell you when you're save to kill, simple combat system with auto targeting.

I can't wait to see Wolverine.
Happy Birthday Yes GIF

Saros will be there, Tokon will be there, Yotei will be there, big chance that both Wolverine and God of Vania will be there.
You don't like those? Fair, but it will definitely be a first-party party and there's no way to spin that.

Not really, in 2024 alone they announced Intergalactic, Ghost of Yotei, Astro Bot, Physint, LEGO Horizon, Until Dawn, HZD Remastered (and they could've unveiled the Saros CG during that calendar year too) and showed off more of Death Stranding 2, Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, Helldivers 2 and Destiny 2: The Final Shape. Not to mention third-party exclusives like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Silent Hill 2 or Silent Hill: The Short Message; PlayStation-adjacent third-party titles along the lines of Judas, Monster Hunter Wilds, Dragon's Dogma II, Onimusha, Metal Gear Solid Delta or Dynasty Warriors; and PSVR2 games Metro: Awakening, Hitman: World of Assassination, Skydance's Behemoth and Alien: Rogue Incursion.

Honestly, they could've hosted two Showcase-level presentations (one in January/early February, the other in September) but they simply choose to spread everything throughout three different State of Play events, Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards.

Shows just arent as good as the e3 days. When you had to show your best show against other publishers and platformers brought out the best in these shows. Now its just crap spread out.

Like always, the people who are uninterested in Playstation always need to let everyone know how uninterested they are in every Playstation thread....

Cant wait to see what they got to show. Theres too much smoke about Wolverine now. They must have something to talk about. If there is a show next week, I would be surprised if they didnt have anything about Wolverine. Due to their licensing exclusivity deal, I doubt they would wait to show it at the Game Awards.

Honestly? ... just dont care anymore.
I mean, one is always hoping for something big. Ace Combat 8, new Twisted Metal, something worth it. But I'm generally no longer care that much anymore. Not sure if it's an age thing or Sony is just shit these days. The MS shows are more interesting to me these days, mainly because they are so big that they always have something to announce. (And even then, their show is pretty much never rated higher than a B.)

I think Nintendo has ruined these shows now. Everyone will showcase 1-2 games and some third party stuff going forward long gone are the big showcase days with loads of games

September 2024 SoP: "Honestly?... just don't care anymore"
February 2025 SoP: "Honestly?... just don't care anymore"
June 2025 SoP: "Honestly?... just don't care anymore"
September 2025 SoP: "Honestly?... just don't care anymore"

Yeah, we get it.

Ace combat 8 needs to either get announced next week or at tgs. It's been way to long.

The only great exclusive/timed exclusive from them are FFVII Part 3, Stellar Blade 2, and a new Ratchet and Clank so hopefully a teaser for either one or all.

First time since 1995 I haven't had a Playstation. Sold my PS5 in prep for the pro to release and then realized .. wait I don't actually want this thing anymore. They could change my mind of course but ... well ... they haven't yet.

Lots of us in that dissatisfied boat, unfortunately.
