Ok, now that Metroid prime 4 is about to be released, I'm wondering how many are actually waiting for it.

There are 150 millions switch's out there, but for people that never played Metroid prime before, is there any reason to get this game? And for those who had, do you expect the game can offer something better than the originals?

I've only used my Switch recently to replay Retro Studios' last game (Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze) on it. Zero interest on this.

I played and for the first time finished Metroid Prime last year. Can't say I have much interest in the new Prime game.

I'm not Metroid person, the only one I played was Metroid Prime Hunters on DS.

But my hype for Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is through the roof.

Undecided.
Played the trilogy way back in the day on GC and Wii.

1 was a revelation at the time. 3 was so-so. Can't say I've been blown away by what I've seen so far of 4.

Yes (though I only played Metroid Prime Hunters in DS and never finished it and I think I never started it on Wii, and still have the Switch copies sealed).

Metroid Prime is my fuckin jam, I can't bloody wait.

I love scanning everything and being alone in that hostile world, gaining power, finding secrets, appreciating the little details.

I bought a Switch 2 initially so Metroid Prime 4 and TotK (+ future cross gen titles) would look their best.

I absolutely love the 2D Metroids, most of all Super, ZM, AM2R and Dread, but Prime 1 and 2 most of all are my favourites.

Was hyped until the last trailer which was diabolical. I hope they put out a Direct that gets the hype talking again, I want to be excited for this game.

Yes, but after that last trailer... I'm not particularly hyped. I don't trust the bike/open-world segments and it looked bad enough that I'm honestly wondering if Retro still has the same magic.

But I really hope it's good - Metroid Prime 1 is one of my favorite games ever, and Metroid Prime 2 is up there, too.

I've never been interested in this franchise. I didn't even buy the Prime 1 remaster. Maybe, just maybe, I'll give this one a shot depending on what I see once it comes out.

Preordered for Switch2. I hope its as good as the other Prime's and I can't wait to see what the bullshit excuse is for losing all the powers this time. :)

Definitely interested, but not enough to buy a Switch 2. Will just wait until the inevitably better OLED model, and more games come out.

Game has taken forever to come out, so I can wait more.

I always find strange seeing GAF act like Metroid sells/is expected like the BIG HIT that strangely isn't (which is bizarre if you thing that this game literally start a genre).
That being said, why Nintendo does not release a Metroid Prime Trilogy on Switch 2 is beyond me (or maybe noit, given the series is NOT a big hit... :-( )

I only played the first half or so of Metroid Prime 3. Didn't finish it, but liked it. But I haven't see anything of Metroid Prime 4 that grabbed my attention. The open world bike section looked poor to be honest.

If it's another installment where I have to continuously backtrack, then no. Backtracking always seemed like the developer was stealing from me reusing the same area for 233 hours.

Played the first Prime game, and thought it was fine but didn't wow me.

Never played any of the other Prime games or any other Metroid games in general.

I am kind of ambivalent. Those desert bike levels looked pointless

That said, I won't have Switch 2 for a good while anyways (waiting for 3D Mario and something else interesting) so 🤷‍♂️.

I don't understand why anyone wouldn't be excited for the GOTY.

So .. longer answer here I guess.

I think Metroid is one of my favorite series around overall, but I don't think the Prime series is that great, and it's an easy explanation. There is another user here whose name I don't remember but he/she also got it IMO.

The Prime games are just slow.

Part of the fun of the 2D Metroid games is how fast you can traverse the landscape as you explore, especially as you get things like the speed booster and space jump capabilities. You can just rip through areas and Samus feels nimble and fast. That feeling is completely lost in Prime, and on top of that I would say the combat is just not that good. So what are we left with? Something that has the Metroid name, and some exploration but feels like a pale imitation of the real thing IMO. They even have to go 3rd person when going into the morph ball mode because there is just no good way to make that work in first person. That should have been one of the first clues ...

If you took Returnal and wrapped it up in a Metroid package, you have the recipe for the best 3D Metroid, easily IMO. That game is so fast, and the main character can travel leaps and bounds in seconds, but it feels amazing and combat was just perfect. I remember you could tell when an enemy was attacking behind you just based on sound, so you knew when to dodge incoming fire without even seeing it.I think Metroid in 3D would be much better off with that approach.

So overall, I'll get it. I'll check it out. But I am not expecting it to wow me, I just don't think the formula is right.

I never played more than than 2 hours of the original MP on GameCube. and I didn't like it that much ( Halo 1 was released back and that's where I was ). didn't like the way it played back then either.

I do want to play the Switch 2 version of the game but as usual. I am not paying full price for it. will wait for a used copy. Got Donkey Kong bananza for 40$ US and I still don't have the power to finish it ( only like 3 hours in. not sure how the hell it got 10 out of 10. Mario Odyssey was more fun than this but that's a different topic}

It's one of my most awaited games (if I can ever get a Switch 2) ... The original Metroid Prime on the GameCube was PHENOMENAL! I can't wait for 4!

YES

most excited

I am a Switch 2 owner. I am super casual about Metroid overall.

I am very excited for Metroid Prime 4. It looks fun and I love the armors that Samus wears.

So, i am "interested" in this game for NS2. BUT…the motorcycle gave me pause. It would seem this game is very different than what the initial trailer showed.

Nintendo has been very quiet with this game. I am hoping they are quiet because they have a big blowout single game Direct for MP4 in the next month or so.

I don't know if this is 1.) traditional Metroid Prime, 2.) MP with some more action built in like Halo, or after seeing the motorcycle some sort of 3.) BOTW meets MP elements. Or something else entirely.

Yes. It's the reason i picked a switch 2 tbh

I played prime remastered last year and it became one of my top 5 favorite game of all time so i'm beyond hyped for Prime 4

RETRO never misses.

Yes, love Prime 1-3 and also love the recent remaster of 1.

Can't believe they're seemingly launching MP4 without also re-releasing 2 and 3 as well…

It depends on the controls. I have been playing through the Prime series using PrimeHack on the Steam Deck and it plays so well, even 3 plays well using a regular controller. If they can do that with 4, then I may pick it up.
