State of Play |OT| COMING BACK STRONGER! September 24th (2pm PT // 5pm ET // 10pm UK)

did you get that from the SM2 trailer.

I am getting it from the weird gender fluid game director who will clearly have opinions
If you are referring to Marcus Smith, he had been at Insomniac for two decades and is married with kids. He looks like a regular guy. Not even sure how you got gender fluid from him.

Who knows what woke or other stuff is in the game, but there was certainly not anything like that in the trailer.

Nioh 3 looks good, but that was a given considering gameplay has already been shown off. Let it Die: Inferno seems interesting, might be a niche hit. Other than those two, I personally didn't have any interest in anything else, unfortunately.

yurinka yurinka where's your PC port god now?
wtf are you talking about, you gaming flatearther? What you were expecting, to announce a PC port of Death Stranding 2, which was released just a couple months ago? Did you expect to announce Wolverine or Saros day one on PC or something like that? lol

They can't announce PC ports of old games when they already ported everything (with maybe one or two exceptions like Bloodborne, which pretty likely is waiting for a PS6 remaster/remake or its anime adaptation). If you want Sony PC stuff here you have what they have for this year (plus Marathon if finally doesn't delayed to early next year as I think will do).

I took a break from work, and yes me too, the third party and Playtation plus part made me sleepy except for Halloween.
Hah, at least you weren't falling asleep on the job! I mean its not the worst SoP I've seen but pretty mediocre. Its pretty late here where I am yeah nothing really that noteworthy to keep my attention, even missed the Wolverine trailer live.

I guess we shouldn't expect much anyways with the amount of games Sony have already revealed. The third party stuff just felt like a load of Japanese action games that seemed like a blur lol.

Think I'm more excited for OD from Kojima than all of this SOP.

They used to announce older PC port games.
Do you think the studio is just going to do sit on its hands until it's finally time to port Saros?

Sony has a huge catalogue of games they could work on before then, if they wanted.

Saros looks great - but also almost like canonizing Returnal alien worlds not just being imaginary after all.
I kind of like that.
Wolverine not advocating open-world has me tentatively optimistic - until they figure out to do something that hasn't been done for past 20 years with open-world games - I'd rather they stay away from them.

Of course, the most interesting games were the smaller stuff like Chronoscript - but that's been the case with these events for the past 15 years from all platform holders.

The last SOP third party was much better especially with Japan made games. I enjoyed Kojima games especially DS2 , my game of the year. I'm more excited with Physint than OD. Maybe it is too early and they did not show even a concept art of Physint in SOP. But surely it will be a ps6 game exclusive.

It looked more like an Uncharted style more wide-linear game than a Spider Man style open world one.

EDIT:

WHAT THE FUCK MAN WHERE'S RESIDENT EVIL !!!

FUCK YOU DUSK GOLEM !!!
Looking at the TGS stage shows... unless it shows up as part of the xbox showcase, I don't see us getting any more RE9 news at all. Just whatever haands on impressions there are.... Capcom is blueballing us harder than bloodborne2

**update - I see there's a RE9 specific showcase by Playstation Japan on the 28th

Saros looked really great IMO. Returnal was my GotYwhen it came out, and this looks like a spiritual successor, which is exactly what I thought they should do if they did a "sequel." Returnal's story was told and shouldn't be revisited. This looks to just elevate everything about that game. Not sure I'll jump back into PS land for it but it's possible. Nothing else in the SoP really made me think I need the PS5 back, but yeah, Saros could potentially do it for me.

As I suspected, very mid show. If Sony has something bigger up their sleeve they're going to save it for TGA which reaches way more people than a simple state of play.
Also I know it's pretty much required but I find it hilarious how every game coming out before May has precise dates but everything after only gets generic release windows.

I honestly don't remember everyone being so afraid of Rockstar and GTA even with Red Dead 2 and GTA V. It's quite funny to see.

Day 1 for SAROS on PC.

Deus Ex Remaster looks terrible and I honestly don't know why it even exists cuz there's already really good GFX mod for the game for which you don't have to pay, not to mention that the game is playable on modern OSs.

They can't announce more ports of old games because they already ported everything.

They already have ported to PC all their PS5 games and the PS4 ones with potential to sell, with as I said the exceptions of:
  • Death Stranding 2 (very likely are working on it and will be announced maybe half a year from now or later, it's too soon)
  • Astro Bot (Sony may want to keep it exclusive, and platformers don't sell a shit on PC)
  • Gran Turismo 7 (Yamauchi said he explored to make a PC port in the past but rejected it and had no plans to port it)
  • Destruction AllStars (failure, doesn't make sense to port it)
  • Demon's Souls remake (good candidate and a great fit for PC, maybe From wants to be involved but they are too busy, or maybe Sony is waiting to release it next to an anime adaptation) *
  • Bloodborne (also a great potential for big PC sales, but Miyazaki said that a remaster now wouldn't make sense, that would be a better idea to do like in Demon's Souls and keep 2 generations of difference. Very likely Sony also wants to keep it closer to an anime adaptation they may have in the works) *
  • All the other PS5/PS4/PS3 games with potential for decent/good sales already have been ported to PC. With the exception of Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection and GoW Greek Collections, which would be more difficult to port because weren't native PS4/PS5 games and would require pretty much rebuild the games from scratch in a new engine (to remake them one by one instead of as collection), something that commercially would also work better for them. And would make more sense to release it next to some related movie/tv show adaptation of that IPs
* = The deal that SIE signed with FromSoft considered not only working in games but also in anime adaptations. Anime adaptations of game IPs were also included in the other separate deal between Sony Group and Kadokawa among many other things.

Wait megaman comes to a racing game, but they cant remaster the legends games.. Grr...
To license Mega Man to Sega means free profit for Capcom with no work, risk or investment required on their side.

To remaster or to make a sequel of a game nobody bought and that wouldn't sell anything today would mean to lose money.

If something, now that they made Mega Man legacy collections of pretty much all its previous games emulated, they may release a Mega Man Legends one with the emulated games Mega Man Legends 1 & 2, Misadventures of Tron Bonne, plus other Mega Man rarities not included in other collections as fillers like Mega Man Battle & Chase (racing game with the car that appears in the Sega game), Mega Man Soccer and Mega Man & Bass (Rockman & Forte in Japan)

Plenty of others out there like the two PS4 Infamous games, Ratchet and Clank, Killzone etc

They didn't sell much back then (was ok/good for the sales standards of the age, but not enough for today), would sell way less nowadays with outdated visuals and gameplay.

For the same reason we don't have Infamous/Killzone/Motorstorm/Wipeout/etc sequels. Their sales of a sequel, even if doubled or tripled pretty likely wouldn't be enough.

But I think some like Killzone, Wipeout or The Last Guardian have potential for some anime/tv show/movie adaptation. So I assume after they already adapted the other more popular IPs pretty likely will go adapt these ones. And then maybe will make more sense to make some related remaster/remake with the related PC port. But we're talking years in the future.

The closest example would be Grativy Rush. If their experiment with Bandai Namco to revive low seller old and dead IPs works (at a lower cost on Sony's side), maybe close to the release of that adaptation may release a Gravity Rush 1+2 remastered collection.

Lots of games they ported weren't high sellers.
I doubt that's a rule. Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart was also ported already too.

I said announced not released.
TLOU2 was the last one announced, December last year.
Marvel Tokon, Patapon 1+2 Replay, Everybody's Golf Hot Shots were announced in 2025. For 2025 Sony will have a record number of PC releases, wouldn't make sense to announce more and in any case they don't have pretty much to port anyways.

I forgot now which one of the upcoming China Hero Project and India Hero Project games were going to be published by Sony, but I assume they will be released on PC and very likely day one because countries like China or India are pretty PC centric and for these teams extra PC sales are needed, while Sony don't care about exclusivity of these games (their main goal is to market PlayStation on these countries and get many pitches from these countries from other teams, where among tons of crap there may be some new team with a lot of potential).

Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei, Saros and Wolverine haven't been announced for PC because they wait for several months or a few years after their release to announce the PC ports.

Then who are you talking about? The only game director in that video is him? Unless you are referring to the project director, but again, not sure how you get gender fluid from her.

Was an okay show I'd say. Most third party games are sadly not for my taste. Deus Ex was a fun surprise, but I'll stick to the (original) PC version. Nioh 3 is cool and I kinda liked the 2D painted game.

Saros is basically Returnal 2. Nothing wrong with that, but at the same time not overly exciting. Just cool and that's it.

Wolverine looked badass. Seems like old GoW action with the combat and gore. I knew I missed this kind of action and gore, but no idea I missed it THIS much. Can't wait to see more during Spring in 2026.

Saros and Wolverine has me interested in coming back to PlayStation again. That new handheld is on my radar now.

Marcus Smith is the creative director so im sure who yoh are talking about, clearly cant watch a video properly? Not sure how you can read words and not understand them

So unless you don't know how sarcasm works, you seem to be implying you were not talking about the game director? So who the hell are you talking about? Is it really that hard to give a straight answer?

What on Earth? I simply asked if you were referring to Marcus Smith with your comments. You replied with a highly sarcastic answer that still didn't clarify if you were referring to him or not. So if you were indeed talking about him, and who the fucks knows at this point, then no, he is not some gender fluid weirdo.

why would you assume such a thing about him.

So what game director were you referring to? Or are you going to keep trying to weasel your way out of actually addressing the question?
now you assume im a weasel, i think you are quick to make assumptions, first marcus smith and now assuming species... sheesh.

From what I saw Wolverine looked OK. I actually thought it was too bloody. So bloody it was distracting.

Crimson Desert looks cool.

I think HOUSEMARKE only knows how to make one type of game.

Other than that not much of interest.

I love how Sony has gotten everyone conditioned to ignore BB now even in port list wars.
A proper abusive relationship there
Nah, Miyazaki said he thinks it doesn't make sense to remaster it now, that he thinks it makes more sense to keep 2 generations of difference as they did with Demon's Souls to have a bigger difference between both versions.

Meaning, knowing Miyazaki doesn't want to do it before the PS6 release, doesn't make sense to expect it before the PS6 release.

I feel like I am watching a congressional hearing:
"Are you going to answer the question?"
***says some bullshit response***
"So you are not going to answer the question? A yes or no is all I am asking for."
***more nonsense***
"Let the record show he is not answering the question."

Dude, GTA is massive. It's beyond video games kind of big. They are right to be concerned.
