Teardown of PS5 Slim revision

What decisions?

The decision to:

- Go with a new controller this generation
- The NOT make a weaker version of their console for this generation
- To make a new VR headset for this generation
- To not try to ruin the video game market place by creating their own version of GamePass
- To create a streaming handheld for people that want to play their games on the go for a low price.

The decision to:

1 Go with a new controller this generation
2 The NOT make a weaker version of their console for this generation
3 To make a new VR headset for this generation
4 To not try to ruin the video game market place by creating their own version of GamePass
5 To create a streaming handheld for people that want to play their games on the go for a low price.

1 Expensive as fuck and FORCED in games - even ones that don't need it.
2 They are going to do that next gen
3 They don't support it...
4 Only difference between GP and PS+ is lack of day one games on PS+ (it's like GP core)
5 199$ is half the price of original PS5 DE and portal is just screen, buttons, battery and wireless connection

They also:

- increased prices of games
- increased prices of accessories
- increased prices of consoles - multiple times
- increased prices of PS+ (multiple times)
- stopped making as many SP exclusives
- reduced amount of console storage (for the same price)
- blocked ability to copy saves to USB (you have to pay for PS+)
- removed web browser

And some more I don't remember now... They are arrogant and greedy this generation. Soul of Sony Computer Entertainment is gone...

I 100% love the new controller. And even as Sony doesn't support PSVR2 (which is SUPER STUPID), they are getting others to support it. It's the sole reason why I will probably buy Flight Simulator 2024 when it comes out for PS5. And the lack of Day One games is the point LOL! That's a great thing. It doesn't kill the industry. And $199 is cheap nowadays for most things gaming.

I like DS as well but I experienced this situation: I was forced to play PS4 version of It Takes Two just because PS5 version required 2 Dual Sense controllers. Me and my friend had DS and DS4... And only difference between DS4 and DS is much better vibration support, it's not gameplay related...

GamePass is bad for the industry but good for consumers.

Haha look at those launch owners now.
Buying and beta testing it for Sony so they can sell you a cheaper, worse version for more money.
Funny how things have flipped

Can someone really be good for consumers, if it's bad for the industry?

I don't care about big publishers not getting enough money - they fucked the industry, not consumers. Outside of MS studios no one forces games to appear on GamePass - most new releases aren't on the service. MS also pays them hefty amounts of money for ability to put it on GP.

GamePass means cheap access to new 70-80$ games, that's good for consumers (same is true for Ubisoft+ and EA Play).

Yes, this is their biggest pro consumer move this gen. At the same time they just didn't change the way they acted since PS3 HDD...

Launch owners got the same amount of storage. It was only bumped up with the "slim" launch in November 2023.

So, no. Try again brave warrior.

Why add the bolded part? Either way it's pro consumer. Feels like you're fighting more than you need to on this.
