Crazy that the first movie will have released 20 years prior and we thought that the Simpsons were too old back then. Still the best Simpsons game that was a tie-in with the movie.

I loved the Simpson back in the glory days but I never went to see the film as it was already fading for me. I'll watch this drunk at Christmas in a 5 years time.

First movie had some good laughs, wasn't close to being a memorable classic though.

If 7/11 has squishies and buzz cola again, I'll be down.

Genuinely interested if they can somehow make any kind of a Simpsons film that is relevant to a dude in his 50s such as myself (spoiler: NO)

Anyway it is interesting, a bit. My friend's young daughters are obsessed with the show, so I can appreciate that the IP still has legs for the current gen. I did miss the 1st one in the theater so this might be a chance to experience that weirdness 1st-hand. Feels unlikely though, but weirder things have happened, I suppose..

I think could be a good film. The first Simpsons movie was pretty neat back in the day. No reason why this couldn't be at least decent.

It doesn't change the fact that the property is mostly operating on auto-pilot and won't end until enough of the original cast either retires or passes away.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is being done just so they can update the Simpsons part of Universal Studios theme parks with some new stuff.

Not surprised. The Simpsons is now owned by Disney, who are currently in the process of trying to figure out a way to revive and/or milk every IP they've purchased. Alien TV show? Check. Predator animated movie? Check. New Simpsons movie? Check.

Given that it's Disney? This is more likely

The SImpsons will forever sit in this place in my heart next to playing NES games and Burtons two Batfilms. That nostalgia goes until season 6 or so and can be maybe pushed to 10. That worlds is endlessly watchable,,,but cmon...after that ....how many fucking times can you be in the fourth grade or can Marge and Homer have marraige problems that need to be resolved. the show just runs on its own recycled self. Still that feeling remains with the Simpsons of that time and place....but anything post 2000 feels like a dead horse being beat with a lead pipe covered in glass.

Pretty much, I mean I stopped watching the Simpsons for the same reason I stopped watching The Family Guy. I was watching a episode and not laughing because I kept getting the feeling I had already seen this episode. Yet it was literally a new episode being shown for the first time.(I probably would have found it funny if it had been on 5 years earlier.) That is like you said, somewhere between seasons 6-10 for both of them.

Why do people cope so hard? I see posts about "well the first one was good so this one should be ok." Like somehow the writers of the show decided they want to be good all of a sudden after 20 years? The people who will watch this are the same wierd ass fuckers who give millions of youtube views to snl, talk show, and family guy clips.
