Microsoft revamps Xbox Game Pass plans and hikes Ultimate to $29.99 a month, Ultimate gets Ubisoft+ Classics and more

Correct me if I am wrong but what did Microsoft release this year ?

Doom the dark ages 70$
Oblivion Remastered 40$
Gears of War: Re-Loaded 40$
Avowed 70$
South of midnight 70$
Call of Duty black ops 7 70$

That's 290$.

Xbox game pass ultimate per year is 360$.

if you were to buy MS games day one is cheaper than renting them.

even if I am missing one or two games. you are still in the clear and that is buying them day one ( assuming you want half of this garbage they released too ).

There are no words of how much of a fuck up Microsoft is. these fucklets on top needs to get fired ASAP.

... on a second note. hope they don't get fired. I just want to see the MS quite the gaming business all together and get the fuck out

This feels intentional right ?
Like they are purposely doing it to kill the brand ,gamepass and whatever there is left of Xbox.
They really can't be serious with this hike .
Imagine if Xbox was successful with major adoptation of gamepass and they would've forced this ridiculous price hike on us.
As a series x owner this is my last Xbox and there is nothing they can do to convince me otherwise anymore

It's intentional because it comes from desperation: the NEED to improve profit margins. A division that, at its best, is breaking even and, at its worst, is losing like 5 billion a year.

Wait, so a 100% increment in 8 years? Living in a country where you get 200% in a year, that's not that bad.

Prices also increased in Argentina, Ultimate is now AR$ 24999 which is like 17 dollars plus taxes (an extra 4 or so). Average income is much lower, though, maybe 500 dollars per month.
Launched in 2019, but yeah it was $15.

I was speaking for myself.

I've always purchased games I wanted to play since I first got a job in life, and I always will. I don't get FOMO and have a backlog taller than the Eiffel Tower. So when I finally get to a game I want to play, they are discounted and on sale way more often than not.
Patience, usually wins out, when it comes to buying games. Exceptions, Nintendo.

Yes, it's entirely intentional.

With the current subscriber count, day one games on GamePass aren't sustainable, and they have no hope of substantially increasing their subscriber count.

So the only option is to "end" day one, but to avoid throwing in the towel entirely, they've left day one at an absurdly expensive tier that no one in their right mind should subscribe to.

This is the end of day one on GamePass.

They really (don't) know how to sell this. They're clearly trying to confuse the end user with the overblown graphics and this multi-tier nonsense, hoping the buyer will just go "I... guess I'll just buy the whole thing." It's really scummy, and that price is fucking stupid.

Price went from $11.95 to $16.49. $200 a year total. PC Game Pass is still a good deal if you only subscribe when there is a game you want to play.
I imagine a lot more people will do that now instead of staying subscribed year around. Which makes it increasing odd that MS still doesn't offer a discounted annual option.
Yeah, exactly. I always just grab it when I need it. Next time I'll probably get a sub just for Keeper and Ninja Gaiden 4.

How does this improve profit margins ??
Ur not selling enough consoles and subscriptions
So what should we do ?
Increase price again and see how it does now.
The absolute stupidity of Microsoft is just unmatched

Why would they deliberately kill a brand that has so much potential? I know I am likely in the minority who feels that way , all it took was some people there to have some sense of objectivity and foresight and in a ideal world be a really good alternative to PlayStation in that market, competition for people's money, attract the first time gamers etc.

It appears Microsoft is no longer interested in console gaming. Giving up on hardware and now giving up on their subscription model. 30$ a month? 😂

Here on Brazil the price went from 60BRL to 120BRL, a 100% increase.

Not so fun fact: If you are a gaming on the minimun wage over here, the gamepass ultimate ll cost you almost an full month salary per year.

$30 a month to rent games 😂😂😂😂

Everything Xbox these days just screams milking the loyal fans for every last penny before it goes kaput.

But if you invest at least a years worth of play you can earn up to $100 in X-bucks or V-bucks or something....so it's basically like it pays for itself...🤷‍♂️

Edit: Did Noone else read the Rewards Program?

That became obvious when they barely mentioned Series X for two years in marketing and concentrated on that Lego Radio S.

They became obsessed with where and how you play more than what you actually play. They made the brand fucking boring in my opinion.

Yep. They are desperate and have no room for maneuvering. When they rehearsed "Play Anywhere" as a new marketing beat, I was like....they are using a strategy that didn't work again. literally grabbing used toilet paper to plan their future.
