I think you got it a little wrong. Most people weren't complaining it's not profitable, they were pointing it out. The changes only proved them right.

I'm subbed up through 10/13/28. Turned off auto renew.

They have 3 years to convince me. I guess we'll see. If their releases keep improving, if they have tons of day 1 games, if games are all $80 by then, I guess we'll see. If I had to pay $30 I'd be out but they have until 2028. By then I'll be on PC.

What is Ubisoft classics officially? All games after 12 months or just random old shit whenever they give up? Does anyone actually use this service? When does it get Avatar and AC Shadows for example?

Yeah, i definitely would have used it a lot more if it were around during the original Xbox or 360 era when i was in my late teens/early 20s. This is really the worst time for Game Pass to exist due to the glut of free-to-play games.

Sony's entire gaming division is being propped up by microtransactions, not by delivering great standalone games. Instead of focusing on innovation, gameplay depth, or player value, they've chosen the quick cash grab model. That dependency shows they've lost the creative spark that made them a powerhouse in the first place. On top of that, while the foundation of their revenue is increasingly shallow, Sony keeps doubling down on DEI initiatives and pushing woke agendas in their games and corporate messaging.

But sure, keep believing everything is a-okay

I never said they were complaining about it being profitable I said they were claiming that MS werent charging enough for it to be profitable. Then in this thread people are complaining about them raising prices.

This gen in particular they've been very aggressive about it too, and it still managed to end as the worst Xbox gen in commercial terms.

Most normies left the sinking ship ages ago.

GameStop has been itching to get back at Microsoft for years since the Mattrick debacle that was counter to their entire business system.
 
I can't say I'm surprised by this. Judging by the brief bits I've seen across social media, even the hard-core Xbox defenders have no shield to put up, nor spin to give. They seem just as upset as most others are.

Well, yeah. For $270 a year, Game Pass was terrific value, no question. For $430 a year, it's now half as good. For a time, Xbox was positioning itself as the more cost effective console eco-system. It's largely the place Microsoft was carving out for itself against Sony's "premium gamer" approach and Nintendo's continuing "fuck you, give us money" stance. Hiking their prices simply erodes what was left of their brand's place in the market.

I've been talking about this in some other thread lately, but Microsoft really needed a compelling value proposition that isn't "not Playstation, but cheaper", that way they'd cultivate their own userbase and be able to charge them as they pleased, just like the other two.

I think this is their actual biggest failing in over 20 years in the console industry. Not Xbox One or whatever.

Content is above all what makes a platform compelling. The problem is they have strung along a bunch of their hardcore for years with promises and apologies along with continuous messages of "heard your feedback".

And when it finally looked like they might something compelling they devalue their own consoles by launching on PlayStation and more and more price hikes.

Once they started to get a little momentum with Xbox 360, it was then that they should have strengthened their first party portfolio and with its successor , kept it simple yet better than before . They didn't.

And frankly I never known , in all my years, a gaming executive to be given so much leeway when you compare it to the actual output.
