@adamsapple
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

I think the word he's looking for instead of "officially" is "unofficially".

I had a dream 😭

Ok, Martin Luther King.

Dude Timdog had a massive meltdown earlier today and ranted about Elon Musk buying the Xbox platform and it potentially being a great idea.

He later deactivated lol. I think he heard something on the grapevine.

I find his revisionist posts amusing. This was a fella who was one of those who pushed the "wait till E3" nonsense until it eventually became the inevitable piss take and the harshest criticism he could come up with was "it is what it is" now he likes to portray himself as some kind of lone warrior who always spoke out which is not true.

If what he says over the last few months is true and he has spoken to various executives personally in the past then it raises questions as to why him and how he got to be in that kind of position in the first place.

I don't remember him having any online presence during the 360 era at all.

Can they just add an option where I just take it up the ass like once a year? I mean Phil is probably small anyway and I can pretend it's like a prostate exam.

Mother of god, no. And we all know that fucking imbecile is obsessed with the letter X. This is the worst possible timeline.

if they were in game ads id use it. Why would I care seeing deodorant ads on in game tvs and billboards. Or have a bunch of monster energy drink cans on a table.

I'm so happy to see so many people who were bragging about "the best deal in gaming" now getting their just desserts! So many of us could see this shit happening from a mile off. Now if only you'd purchased games instead of feeding the beast…!!!
I mean if instead of PC gamepass for two years I'd bought games day one, I would have an extra 3 or 4 games in my ~500 game library and would have missed out trying a whole bunch of games and finding games that I didn't know I would like.
That is the main advantage of a subscription service - getting to try out full games and then just keep playing if you like them. It's like an advanced demo system.

Sources tell me the internal testing includes around two minutes of preroll ads before a game is available to stream for free through Xbox Cloud Gaming. Microsoft is also currently testing a limit of one hour for sessions, with up to five hours free a month.

I can't believe people think this is the future of gaming?

How is this aggressively dystopian system superior to playing on local hardware?

The engagement numbers are going to go through the roof as people access their 5 free 1 hour sessions of ad-supported gaming per month.

Microsoft can then migrate the lowest subscription tier to being ad-supported on top of the fee.

If you even like gaming a little bit. If you even respect yourself as a consumer. If you even value the money you make (even if you make a bunch of it)

You WILL NOT engage in this service. You will help send a message that this is too far.

And at this point, you're stupid if you think this is the beginning and end. This is a test to see what they can get away with before migrating this into every gamepass tier.

I've said it before but it's only a matter of time until they start locking any online access behind an ad supported gamepass tier. And they WILL put access to certain games behind a gamepass tier. Meaning no other way to purchase or play. Only gamepass

Anyone that thinks I'm wrong just hasn't been paying attention.

Wait, so GeForce now has something like this?

how does that work exactly? You pick a game to stream...it shows you an ad before you can play? Or is it like mobile gaming where it stops you in the middle of play to show some stupid ad 15 times an hour?
Only for the GFN free tier, which is limited to one hour sessions anyways. You see one ad per hour of play before you get in line again. Well, it shows the ads while you wait in queues or before game starts if no queues but there's always queues for a free tier.
So it would interrupt your game if you play more than an hour. Microsoft is really going scorched earth it seems. This feels like it's all Satya. Phil, Matt and Sarah are no longer in charge.
It disconnects session after it reaches one hour limit. xCloud has already had one hour limit on the free FortNite streaming.
Terrible, just terrible. I'd rather quit gaming then using a cloud service with ads.

It's an option for those who can't afford hardware. You aren't being forced to do anything. MS is removing the barrier of entry regarding hardware to basically $0. Just buy a game and stream.

The games won't be free, other than the F2P ones, the streaming is free.

Thanks for pointing out a pretty vital spelling error there. Made my post look quite weird!
And yeah, I totally understand that for NOW it's just a cheap optional thing, but I wouldn't be suprised if they add this shit to pay-subscriptions at some point. Hopefully not!

Even if it makes it into paid tiers, I still expect to see it as an option in order to get a discount. I expect Premium tier will get a price increase next year to $18-20, once they add a mobile catalog from the planned Xbox Mobile store.

PC Gamepass will be going away next year reportedly. I think it may happen next gen, with the dual purpose Magnus hardware being able to stream KB/M input centric PC games. So once Premium tier gains parity with PC Gamepass, and can stream the PC SKUs, the PC Gamepass will be stopped for new users.

So at that time, they could introduce a Premium tier with ads for $15, while Premium is $20. Then Ultimate tier with ads for $25, while ad free is still $30.

Still optional is my point.

And if the next gen hardware is allowing third party PC stores, they will have to either get rid of the online paywall, or make it free with ads at the very least.
I didn't want it before. I want it even less now.
Million of people in Brazil and other developing countries want it. Cellphone or tablet is often their primary computing devices, they can't afford Consoles or PCs. So they still could play Console games. How is that a bad thing?

I'm not Brazilian so I continue to not give a fuck.

And it seems like MS doesn't anymore either.

The more people getting to play games, the better. Totally agree with that.
As long as this kind of stuff doesn't replace the "good old way" of buying games and being able to play whenever you want without a monthly subscription.
The "fear" of games going off game pass is actually one of the reasons I seldom bother starting a new, big game on there.
