David Jaffe: GAMEPASSA - why I still love it!

The most interesting part is that these guys really believe their opinion is more valid than the others... i mean, jaffe posts like he fells someone need to sleep only after knows his opinion about gamepass...

Just my take: If you haven't followed this man, he is always like this. He's a contrarian. Always has been. His takes will piss you off to the end of time if you let them, that's just how he is. The man likes to think outside the box and takes current group think very personally. I don't take him seriously and my life is better. Shit he said about Vara Dark was pretty out there.

I seem to recall statements in other threads about the bitterness of ex-employees or something?

Best to steer clear of his politics if you aren't hard woke.
LMAO, in the end of the video he specially emphasized " this has nothing to do with being contrarian".

He sounds pretty rational in the video, I definitely think there are people where GamePass makes sense. If I was still a college student with a bunch of free time I would absolutely be a GamePass fan and it would be enough for me to pick Xbox over any other platform.

To be fair to him, he says Gamepass still makes sense for HIM, he is not saying it's a good deal for everyone. And fair enough, if you are someone who plays a ton of games and streams and all that it probably still makes sense.

For a more average player that probably doesn't spend as much time playing and often takes more than a month to finish a game (or doesn't buy everything at full price), it doesn't make much sense anymore

This bloke is an insufferable fucking idiot. His opinions are almost edgelord level and I'm sure he does it just to piss people off. What a wanker.

Even if it brings him value, nobody should be happy about them raising prices that much. He certainly should keep his mouth shut about being happy to pay more.

David says what he likes, and that's rare now. Potentially messed with him getting certain jobs over the years, but I respect it.
I certainly don't agree about GP though.

I know people like that, no purchases, only scrolling through Gamepass and install and play.
Definitely casuals though. Not sure it's enough for core gamers. I use Gamepass a lot but I still buy a couple games per year as well. However, day 1 purchases are rare, bought some Switch 2 games because it was a system launch but otherwise I think I've only bought Stellar Blade PC at full price this year.

The only thing calculated about the video (aka engagement farming) was going, 'Lots of people are talking about the Gamepass price hike so we should do a video about that in hopes of catching the algorithm'. The opinion is valid, the video is calm and logically presented. You may not agree with it, but it's not some crazy rant. I honestly recommend this article for some of you in this thread: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/style/climbing-cringe-mountain-with-gen-z.html

It's a trend I've seen over the last 10 years where so many people are desperate NEVER to be seen coloring outside of the lines that anyone who values their own personal views and opinions is seen as trying to be an edgelord. If you had watched the video before commenting (I know it's hard to do; getting those little dopamine drip 'thumbs up' kudos on the bottom right of your post means EVERYTHING!!!) you would see the video is simply explaining why I still love Gamepass even with the shitty price increase. Nowhere in the video am I trying to convince anyone else they need to put up with the price increase. Not at all what the video was about (and you would know that if you had watched it).

As a Portuguese guy "Gamepassa" (like the OP wrote on that topic title) is funnier, since it has the same meaning of "i'll pass" (not interested) instead of a pass that give you access to lots of stuff.

Gamepassa is what MS is turning Gamepass into so i guess that checks.

Someone should write an article about the cringe thumbnails being used by youtubers these days to get their click and likes (it means everything!!!!). I'm sure your video was absolutely as calm as you say it is, but first impressions mean a lot and this shit is nothing but cringe...
