Could this be the foundational GPU technology for the PlayStation 6? Mark Cerny's latest Project Amethyst update describes the building blocks of future graphics technology, with a strong focus on ray tracing and machine learning capabilities, along with bandwidth-enhancing features designed to reduce the need on massive memory controllers. John, Rich and Oliver discuss the tech and share more information from Mark Cerny via an email Q&A conducted in the wake of the video's publication.

They also mentioned that they did an email Q&A with Mark, so there may be more info than what was discussed in the original video.

GAF is featured in this video. K KeplerL2 is mentioned at 3:34 and 20:25 :pie_ssmiling:

I'm sorry but I just can't look at or listen to that Cerny bloke without thinking what a nonce.

So the universal compression explains why PS6 Orion only has 160 bit bus.

Seems PS6 will have the full RDNA5 feature set this time.

im really excited.
I know im overly optimistic, but perhaps these AI upscaling could probably eliminate 30fps or devs prioritize 60/120 fps in next gen

Yeah, but that memory bandwidth jump is still very small.

At the time when consoles stagnate with memory speed PC GPUs will be 2x or 3x faster in this aspect. Right now we have 600-800GB/s on mid range GPUs + L2 and L3 cache that helps bandwidth even more.

RDNA5 on PC will have L3 cache, 750-1000GB/s memory speed and new compression system. PS6 will just have new compression system...
