FF7 Remake director says Part 3 will be a conclusion that all fans will love

I hope he's right, but they've made it difficult for themselves. I think there's a high degree of risk we will be looking at another Lost or Game of Thrones by the end of this, in which case the backlash will be monumental.

They need to start clarifying some things sooner rather than later in part three imo.

Will the writing finally be for adults instead of five year old children?

Just asking
Probably not. Remake and Rebirth are incredibly childish and immature in writing style. Part 3 is gonna be the same. The compare/contrast between OG and Part 3 will be legendary.

Lost was the perfect ending…don't give the people who were too daft to understand it, or say "they were dead the whole time" any power 🤦‍♂️

I've liked the visuals, gameplay and music in these remake games.
But what they've done with the story sucks. In Rebirth they took what's arguably one of the most iconic story moments in gaming and turned it into some convoluted Nomura style crap.

Honestly I sort of enjoy these games for the gameplay and cutscenes presentation, but then I see the anime cringe situations and it takes me out of the experience. And on top of that, the changes in the story and writing are objectively worse. The original game was savage at times and it wasn't afraid to show cruel things happening. In these remakes everything is so sanitized that is hard to take it seriously.

My expectations are through the floor. But what is he supposed to say?

"Well even if you don't like it you might as well buy it because you're already two games in."

Two 50 hour games to cover disc 1. And now disc 2 and 3 are going to be wrapped up in one game? The balance is all off. I understand that disc 3 was basically just the ending. That doesn't change the fact that SE spun a four hour segment of the very beginning of the game into a 50 hour game that was a full price release.

There is SO much ground left to cover in the story. They spent so much time on fluff in the first two games that the last one is either going to feel super short or be super long, either way, the pacing is going to feel terrible. Prove me wrong, SE. Dazzle me. I would love to be wrong.

Example that it probably is past redemption. Combat will be fun though.

the story took a major nosedive in rebirth and ruins one of the most famous moments from the OG. I tune it for the 3rd cause I'm already invested and finish for the gameplay, but the have no expectations for the story.

also am not looking forward to tackling the Weapons in FF7R style

Polchinski's paradox is how we resolve the situation they have gotten themselves into satisfactorily, but Midgar isn't ready for that conversation.

We'll see. If they can bring context to the pivotal scene in Rebirth, and stay true to the original, I'll be happy. I don't mind the extra stuff they added, it does seem like a natural extension of the original's story and themes. I really like how they further developed everything they did in the Cosmo Canyon area. Some people just hate change, but I think they can pull this off and actually do justice to a franchise that has been in a dire state for so long.

I still say that the Whispers, etc, was just a story telling mechanic. So they could change the story if they wanted to.

But yeah it's going to be a happy ending. The OG's ending is pretty dark.

I'm not convinced that introducing and seemingly destroying the fate/timeline police as the new climax of act one can be considered a natural extension or mere fleshing out of what was already there. I don't think they can really insert that and then have it amount to nothing significant either.

I do think they have somewhat got cold feet since making that decision though.

Is the writing in the original game more mature? It's sad that it's early 3d game.
Very much so. I doubt we will even deal with Cloud's Psychosis on the level that the OG did. A lot of stuff even with the Temple of the Ancients was very subdued and watered down.

A problem with this trilogy is it's overly positive nature whereas FF7 OG was a dark story that had light moments peppered throughout the adventure. It was a very bleak atmosphere with moments of warmth and hope. A lot of the original direction has been lost.

Not really sure what direction they are trying to take.

The only thing that ALL true fans would have loved is if they didn't butcher the story and writing/dialogue with their cringey kingdom hearts nonsense.

All will love?

So the first two games were a fever dream that Barret Wallace had after eating bad Chocobo meat
and the 3rd installment is a remake of the original game in 4K with zero changes?

Cause thats the only chance in hell I'd "love" this

The only positive outcome unironically would be "it was all a dream".

FF7 Remake is like the "Disney live action remake" of JRPGs

I kinda-sorta enjoyed Remake, although I found it bloated, and the Whispers were a totally unnecessary plot device (seriously, writers, you can just change stuff if you want without all the tryhard meta bullshit). I dipped out of Rebirth after they turned Shinra Mansion -- a compact, haunting area in the original -- into several hours of shitty block-pushing puzzles followed by a shoehorned battle with anime motorcycle dude. Just an awful game all around, inexplicably mixing the worst excesses of Ubisoft's open-world padding with borderline-incoherent writing of a Kingdom Hearts game. The people making this have zero respect for what FFVII is supposed to be, and I'm struggling to be interested in watching them butcher the third part.

Modern Square can still pump out bangers when they want to (see: Octopath, Bravely Default), but I'm starting to finally admit to myself that mainline FF has been terrible for close to 20 years now.
