Xbox boss confirms(for the 50th time) "next-gen hardware is in development"

Microsoft is becoming the Jaguar of videogame industry. Get rid of your remaining stock and stop the manufacturing process, have people wait for months (years?) while selling NOTHING and then offer a vastly different product that's not in line with what your former customer base was interested in.

Whatever helps people sleep at night.

If all their games are going to be multi-platform at launch, or timed exclusives that come to the other platforms after a few months, does this matter to anyone other than the remaining Xbox fans who haven't bought a PlayStation or PC?

" including future first-party consoles and cloud. "

Ok, but that's dated four months ago, June 19th. Now, in October, they're using the word "hardware," not "console." I think that's an interesting change.

I am speculating, but I think MS PR realized that using the word "console" could be misleading and result in potential backlash later. They substituted the word "hardware" instead, because it's safer and less prone to misunderstanding and backlash.

Maybe I'm wrong, it means nothing, and we'll be back to "console" next month.

edit: I might be giving them too much credit for foresight. :messenger_smirking:

edit 2: Yeah, I was mistaken. We're back to "console" already. Guess it was just a substitution of one vague word for another.

Nothing shows less public trust ina brand than the need to confirm something once PER WEEK! I simply cannot imagine as this day and age Sony or Nintendo having to confirm things like that with this frequency...

I'm saving up for the next Xbox. I am holding off on new hardware until I see the Magnus in action, especially running Steam games.

Who cares about XBox Hardware?

When Microsoft is now officially releasing all their IP's on all Platforms, everyone will just buy a PlayStation 6 or a Nintendo Switch 2!!!

Exclusives sells Hardware, it's absolutely incredible that even I understand that and Microsoft with all their Money aren't able to understand this!!!

All I can say is that if they intend a 2027 launch they better be doing more than 'looking' at designing and prototyping. Can't tell if its a terrible choice of words or a clever choice of words that wraps the truth in a misdirection (that being its not actually a real project, but hey it might be one day). I'm assuming the first, but its MS so can't entirely rule out the second.

Since all their future games will be multi-platform there is no real need to buy any future hardware from them. For me i have always owned an Xbox since the original but the 'next' Xbox i don't feel the need to own.

I'll enjoy their games on my PC in future.

Waiting for the inevitable tweet from the titan insider:

"I can corroborate that a nextgen Xbox is indeed in development."

Xbox fans: "No shit, mo********er, that's the head of Xbox. We don't need a bean munching beluga whale to corroborate what corporate heads say."

Can these companies enter partnerships and then "LOL NEVERMIND" the company building the shit
It depends on that contract they have with them tbh.

MS seems like they have no real goal to put out hardware themselves and plan to just keep saying this to maintain XB sales until the very end.

I'm not sure how a company can plan a new system and expect consumers to invest in XB, when they are not even investing in XB when their games on are all platforms at this point, so who is this shit being built for? How many will really buy one day 1 knowing how MS treated its library this generation? So its like, why buy that system when all their major AAA IP are on PC and PS day 1? Even if they start with a claim of "exclusives", who the fuck is left to believe that term, from that company when even a brand new Forza is now coming to PS5....

So, they have low sales this gen, next gen that shit will be even lower when those burnt consumers decide to not waste any time with this company and just get a gaming PC or PS6 etc.

We'll see Forza Horizon 7, Gears etc on PS6 anyway and folks will just wait it out based on MS past behavior.

That trust is completely lost at this point, so I have some doubts on them really even making a new system.

TimDog said:

"In the Next 4 months everything will come out", "They are not turning this thing around and they know it"👀
TimDog knows nothing in case anyone needed to hear that.

With his livelihood depending on clicks he would be breaking this news if he had anything he thought was real

Next-gen hardware could simply mean cloud servers, and no lies would have been told.

Looking at prototyping..so you havent done shit yet unlike Sony who has the ps6 all planned out

Something tells me they will be more lax about next-gen hardware. People said in here that they are not competing against Sony, so what's the rush anymore amirite?

Probably around the next lot of layoffs S SneakersSO spoke of.
i take Tim's words as the confirmation of my own analysis and observations.

so Tim said 4 months I was thinking 6, then another 12 or so; in this time frame we should see a trajectory where Xbox takes shape as a sustainable and viable business long term or a trajectory that feels like the Titanic but without the glamour

what he was alluding was specifically to the deep and systemic mismanagement around game development, He said that he knows a lot about why Xbox can't make games. now, if i remember the correctly he made that tweet days before the halo veteran left the studio (this dev just made another post) and shit seems more problematic than an ego fight.

Tim believes several things:
Sarah getting fired
Phil retire at the end of the year (Tim says Phil is just "checked out")
There will not be a Next Box.

whatever or not he knows "things" ; when we see what's happening now and in the immediate future:

1.Game Pass price hike and PR meltdown
2. Shills unable to shift the narrative
3. Xbox keeps releasing games without any hype/ impact in the market
3. CoD underperforming
4. ROG Ally being a catastrophic disaster. (the worst thing about it is Xbox/windows)... critical for Xbox hardware in the future

5.No stock for the holiday season
6. the next round of layoffs/game cancelations and delays.

Xbox is fucked in all fronts. The new dude in charge of the business can simply said: "we are done"

How much do these two idiots have to ruin the Xbox brand, before both of them get kicked to the curb.

It's already dead so I don't really see how giving them the boot now would help. I don't think there's any management change that could revive the brand after what they've achieved. Plus there's the massive baggage that is all of the stupid, stupid acquisitions over the last 5+ years. Stick a fork in it.

thats quite the story you've made up.

also, i cannot dismiss any of it from where Xbox is now and seems to be headed.
