If you are a Prime member, you can currently get a free GoG copy of the game right now.

I got this at launch for the PS3, I always really liked this game. I remember on my second playthrough, being shocked to find out just how much your decisions changed the game. You can kill anyone, and sequence break quests. Something only Larian has replicated since.

Always loved the build variety, and the vast difference this has on how you can complete quests. Even your gender changes a few quests.

A little anecdote, I recall trying Fallout 3 around 2009. The game didn't grab me at all and I moved on to other things.

In 2011, I caught an hour or two of a lets play of New Vegas from one of my favourite Youtubers. I was hooked and ended up losing my whole summer playing it.

So even back then, my adolescent brain was aware of how much better it was than Bethesda's effort.

Same thing I bounced of FO3. Saw all the random loot and was like what is all this shit. Then I tried one last time with a friend telling me pick up that, drop that. Once I got it I was hooked

Best game in the series for me.
The world map was absolute shit compared to 3, but everything else made up for that.

Time to remake 1&2 you cowards.

With Season 2 of the show featuring New Vegas, how has MS not gone in and at the very least gave this game a resolution bump on Xbox the same way they have done to 3 as peoples curiosity will lead to them naturally seeking the game out. The game is straight up ass ugly on consoles and a lot of people I have recommended it to have bounced off it just because of how blurry it is.

I've started fallout 3 and NV like 100 times but finally have been giving NV a serious go after getting a Legion Go and it's so gooooooood

Remastering this and Fallout 3 should have been Microsoft's first order of business when purchasing Bethesda.

Microsoft being the pieces of shit that they are was too stupid to figure that out and even worse blew a huge opportunity with the Amazon series.

Now, I fear Fallout 3 is getting an Oblivion style remake with UE5 that will be stutter central.

X360 version is currently on sale for $2.50 with each story DLC for $1.99 a piece.

FPS Boost compatible.

Yeah, these games need to be playable on modern consoles. Sucks that you can only play FO4 on PS4/5. And no im not counting PS3 "streaming".

Except that even the BC is still busted as fuck just like it was in 2010 (carrying on that Obsidian tradition). I was able to get maybe an hour into it before the framerate tanked to single digits and it turned into a complete disaster.

On the current Xbox's?

Not sure how you managed that, I've played through NV on SX a few months ago, runs like a charm. You're getting the fully patched up version, not the one that launched day 1.

Yes on the Series S. I've had it for a long time, bought initially thinking it WOULD be fixed up.

Big nope to that. I mean I'll go ahead and reinstall after work, but I bet it's going to still be a mess.

Which is still busted to all hell. The only real way to play these games is on PC with tons of mods and fixes. A remake from the ground up is needed badly. MS is too busy publishing bangers like south of midnight though.

No, it doesn't work well. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's serious about finishing the game. The longer you play, the more broken it gets. The game is a complete mess without community bug fixes and stability patches.

Thank you. I always figured the best way to experience it ultimately was on PC since it has all the mods to make it actually play well.

A slightly more modernised version of this would be amazing. I don't mind the old graphics and stiff animations, but things like recoil, sprint button, bug fixing and other QoL features without having to rely on installing 100 mods would be great.

Even the brilliant Viva New Vegas guide is too much to tinker around for me today (haven't tried the wabbajack route, though).

Again, I'm going to hard disagree. I agree that the PC version with the unofficial patches is the best way to play but a fully patched up console version is pretty stable.

30 hour save from a few months ago and the game running like a charm at 60fps to go with my claim.

The 360 port is still better than the PS3 port. I wish that fate on no man.

Never had the fortune of playing NV on PS3 but I remember Skyrim on PS3. That shit soft locked for 10s of seconds every time you get near a settlement.

Dude, I own the game on both PC and Xbox, digitally and on disc. It's one of the few games I actually have a physical copy of because it's a classic. I've got hundreds of hours in it, and just in the past two weeks alone, I've logged 24 hours on PC according to Steam. I know exactly how it runs. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone on Xbox, it's just too buggy to really get immersed in.

I don't know what to tell you then. It's been running perfectly fine for year(s) on the Series consoles in my own playing experience.

But The Outer Worlds was made before the acquisition.

Most of the talent left, and we are left with political activists posing as game developers.
Yep, it's shocking how much worse slop like Outer Worlds is vs New Vegas.

The latter is one of my favorite games of all time (especially with mods). And Outer Worlds is middling at best with writing that is worse by any count or measure and with terrible characters to boot.

I feel old, and going to boot up Tale of Two Wastelands again on the weekend for some quality nostalgia.

I salute thee, NV. What a fun game, expertly written game. Not quite as consistently smart as Disco Elysium (and how could it be given its scope) but there's so much to do in the game, so much that you can and so many directions to go in.

(Better than Planescape? Hmm...)

Sad that a great developer is long gone. We really lost one of the good ones. I lament and wonder what other games they could have went on to make.

What? I don't know what you are talking about.

Nah, that's a skin suit.

Why would anyone get the console version of a Creation Engine game? Most mods are on PC.
The GOG version is the most superior version to play.
