already know this but I recently tested my first controller with Capacitive Joysticks, so to speak the newest kid on the block in our opening post of OT.
Mobapad Huben 2, and while some things it did impressed me a lot, others were really lacking so to speak.
It has Omron switches like my Endgame OP1 8K mouse and I found the buttons, dpad and bumpers along with trigger stops to be one of the best currently on the market. Sound wise also.
HD Rumble probably only works with Nintendo games I wasn't able to make it work even under Linux with any PC games I own which was a bummer.
Triggers in normal analog mode have a looot of pretravel you have to press half of the triggers for it to start to pickup that you are pressing them in it was such a no-no for me. Apparently Mobapad has to redesign the triggers to get rid of this issues and it is not software issue...
Now onto the sticks themselves, they have pretty high strength, dunno if all Capacitive Joysticks will have the same kind of spring strength but I think they were harder to press in than Elite 2 sticks. They felt also kinda good and bad at the same time, thumbsticks had this metal slider thingie and controller had anti-friction rings but I felt like my Super Nova without the metal part on thumbsticks had like a smoother circular motion.
Dunno if that one is on Mobapad or K-Silver honestly since I suspect it used regular JL16 modules.
This was after the fact that I already confirmed their existence like at all because I only heard rumours about them eariler and we weren't sure at that time if we even should post something about them in OT.
I happened to stumble upon AMA with BettaCore, CEO of Gamesir and I happened to ask him the question and the dude actually answered. I heard he was hella active on socials so I took the shot.
This was even before they announced Tarantula Competitive Edition which will have a few versions and I'm still confused apparently it will do 4000Hz Polling Rate and it will have TMR sticks version, Capacitive sticks version and Analog sticks version.
He said then they are currently testing them internally to see if they are indeed better than TMR and as durable. They reached unstable 1000-2000Hz then but they thought they could do better and it all comes down to sensors since on stock ones they weren't much better than TMR sticks.
And apparently they did do something since they announced that Tarantula and it reaches 4000Hz now.
Gamesir tends to buy K-Silver modules then redesign them themselves, change springs and whatnot, tune them down, modify them for their needs so to speak..
So I'm curious if they did improve whatever was in that Huben 2...
Time will tell as I will probably get my hands on that Competitive Tarantula when it will be available. Probably on Capacitive version because I am really curious of that one, and their modifications.
