Nintendo Switch is the last man standing in exclusives

Here is a graph of exclusives based on the release date for each generation of consoles. And look at that drop in exclusives vs Nintendo. No wonder switch is doing so well in sales. In fact the switch 2 is the only new console enticing me with new exclusives just for it.

Interesting times ahead.

Edit: what am surprised by is PS2.

That's why i always had my rule of Nintendo + X, i changed this rule latly for Nintendo + PC + X (i can see this change to simply Nintendo + PC)

Guess this depends on whether you count late PC ports. Sure, they mean the game isn't fully exclusive anymore, but there are a lot more games that are on PS5 but no other console.

PS2 was the best console of all time for that reason imho.

Except for Nintendo there is really no reason to play consoles any more, exclusivity wise. I hope Nintendo keeps going strong (and maybe becomes a bit less litigious)

The problem is that Nintendo exclusives are exactly the same each gen and come mostly from Nintendo - Zelda, Mario, Kirby, Metroid, etc. So if you are not a fan of them there is absolutely no reason for you to buy a Nintendo system. Also this ignores the fact that Switch was the first one riding the portability / hybrid wave, Nintendo was right on the money with this.

What does the portability/hybrid wave have to do with number of exclusives?

Except this argument is flawed there's plenty of reasons to own a Nintendo system. not every genre is evenly distributed across all platforms.

I play a LOT of rhythm games it's one of my favourite genres and in this current gen the only system that has a decent library of them is switch. On the Xbox & PlayStation they have a few at best, a lot of them come exclusively to switch because it's the only system capable of playing them as some need the touch screen to play as intended so they end up been switch exclusives. It's where there hybrid system shines it can play all the stuff that originally came from mobile rhythm games as well as the arcade ports that you can play in docked mode.

The Office Thank You GIF

PS5 got some high quality exclusives too, demons souls remake, astrobot and if we count crossgen gt7, those 3 make me think of buying ps6 just for dat backwards compatibility =D
Thats assuming GoY gonna have pc port down the line just like GoT.

I don't see how this is accurate at all.

There's no way Switch has 384 exclusives (i.e. indie games we assume) and PS5 only has 18 of them.

The source says Wikipedia but it actually links to a new Reddit thread. Let's see the receipts.

Same IPs but different style games unlike everyone else who make the same style games with different IPs.

It has relevance because the market is slightly different. Remember this is not just first party being compared here. On PS2 PS first party was near non-existent but it had by far the highest number of exclusives. The 384 games on switch are not first party. The different market sets exclusive support. The portability/hybrid plays a part in some ways. Different (ARM) architecture so easier ports are less likely and some games are designed differently for portable play or motion control. Same thing would apply to mobile games too except there are 2 major platforms there Apple/iOS and Android.

Same. As they respect there fans they also earn allot of money from it.
They'd also earn a lot of money if they'd just literally put a turd in a game case and sell it. Nintendo fans bought regurgitated crap for the past 20 years. Nintendo can sell anything to their fans. That has nothing to do with respect, it's more like feeding junkies. Nintendo is for their fans what next doors steroid dealer is for a stupidly obsessed bodybuilder. Whatever you sell, put it in a shiny box, name it something like "xxx builder 3000" and he'll buy it.

Do you even play Nintendo games? Do you just confuse same ip with same game?
I swear i have been hearing this retarded take for 35 plus years, since i was a child.
Meanwhile i owned pretty much every console under the sun, played more than 1300 games and i am telling you that the latest mario, yeah, a 40 years old ip, has more original idea in three levels than 95% of games out there...but hey It's the same 'regurgitated' ip i guess.

This is what I don't understand, how is Nintendo capable to to make their exclusives, well exclusives and rake in the cash like no other, while Sony was forced to go Third Party and having nothing but timed exclusives going forward, the only real exclusives are what Demon's Souls Remake and?

Sony fans laughed at Xbox fans for this same reason and look where they're, boiling frogs lmao

It's easy. To develop games like Horizon or The Last of Us you gotta invest money. To develop Pokemon Scarlet you can hire a monkey and feed him 3 bananas a day.

It's not just first party, but a lot of the third party exclusives aren't due to it being a handheld or ARM. For example, SE made several exclusives for Switch but are now bringing those exact same type of games to AMD consoles and PC. Same with a lot of the other exclusives that Switch got.

Can't wait to read the new ideas and gameplays mechanics have his favorites games when the most innovative game that the PS5 have is a Mario clone 😆.

I disagree, it very much has to do with the market for the device. Have you seen the majority of the 384 numbered exclusives from that chart in the OP? Here:

Nobody is going to sit down on a PS5/XSX and play crossword or sudoku for example. They are more likely to on a handheld though. Sure there are games that would have overlapping markets but the market influences games targeted for that device too.
