Threat Interactive: Dead Space optimization is terrible and EA Motive sucks.... basically

Brother, just start development for something less power than a rtx 5090 or even a ps5 and work from there
Everyone HAS to do optimization at every moment because the horsepower it's not unlimited, even when you have a rtx 5090 and Ryzen 7 3d
what devs don't understand is that people don't buy gpu like rtx 5090 and best cpu on the market to make their lives better, they buy because they expect a certain level of performance and quality and when they don't have they get angry
No, YOU dont understand! No one develops for a RTX5090 - developers make the games for consoles first and formost as those are fixed platforms. That´s what those games are optimized for!
And they ARE getting angry, it's not just a broken bastard from a third world shithole like me who can't have what i want
And do you think getting angry will change anything?
Do you think attacking developers will convince their publishers who only care about money to think different?
Come on now, are you THAT naive?
Oh, and btw, if you think next generation it's going to get better you should look to the rumors, it appears that consoles will be WORSE than we have today with sony launching it's own portable (just look at recently launched low power mode of the ps5) and switch 2 selling like hot cakes or water in the desert
The Sony handheld and the PS6 are two different things, the handheld is made to play PS4 and downscaled PS5 games, NOT PS6 games!
So devs better find way to optimize their shit or find another job
Says who? You? A random loudmouth nobody on a game forum?
Devs do what they are being told to do by their owners - the publishers that pay them.
They decide who has a job and who doesnt, not some complainer on the internet!

no, but refund will

not what the rumors are saying, they're saying that portable is a ps6, you're taking this from your delusional mind

no sir, the simple logic, devs will have to work with worse platforms, if they continue to launch shit they will not sell, simple like that

Refunding will teach them a lesson and work for sure! ;)
I heard stomping with your feet will also work! ;)

yes, refund will make them continues to receive their salaries, we dont know how but will

are you that dumb?

Reality Check:
what?

1- first we dont know how many where salled at full price

2- ALL of those games already paid itself

3- its fucking rockstar

4- even being rockstar the reception was so bad that they cancelled a remaster in the same way of the RDR1

5- those games where not running bad despite all the other issues

Lack of optimization in modern titles is a totally overblown issue. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but look, of the biggest releases this year:

Hades 2 - fine.
Expedition 33 - fine.
Oblivion - bad.
Silksong - fine.
Split fiction - fine.
Avowed - fine.
MH Wilds - bad.
KC2 - fine.
Arc raiders - fine.
Doom TDA - fine.
BF6 - fine.
Silent hill f - fine.
MGS3 - bad
Outer Worlds 2 - mixed bag.
Borderlands 4 - bad.
AC shadows - fine.

The console exclusives like DK, GoY, and DS2 were all great as well. 2024 was much the same.

Look badly optimised games have always existed, they always will, but let's not pretend the entire industry has forgotten how to optimise games or make good looking games. Call it out where you see it, but don't blow your top off when the game uses forward looking ray tracing and thus performs worse. Or throw all developers under the bus when publishers and managers are the ones that call the shots.

exp 33 was bad, maybe not bad like the others but bad anyway

avowed was the same of outer world 2, maybe because dindt make a lot of success it did not receive the same attention

doom was exclusive of RT gpus and some say that the game did not sell well because of that

ac shadows was the worse optimized ac game but at least was very beautiful

I worked at a publisher in the past, I know how they operate!
Unless the refund rate is extremly high they wont do shit!
And your 60$ aint paying for their salary, so your refund will do absolutely nothing!
what?
1- first we dont know how many where salled at full price
They sold 10 million, it doesnt matter at what price.
You claimed the devs will lose their job when they dont optimize, yet this clearly isnt the case here.
2- ALL of those games already paid itself
And what does that have to do with your claim about unoptimized games not selling? Nothing!
3- its fucking rockstar
....and? Unoptimized shit is unoptimized shit! According to you that shouldnt sell!
4- even being rockstar the reception was so bad that they cancelled a remaster in the same way of the RDR1
I have no idea what you are talking about!
5- those games where not running bad despite all the other issues
Look all over the internet, there were people just like you complaining about it.
And despite that and alllll the refunding that must have happend, it still sold 10 Million!
So did they learn anything from that? Certainly not!

just to give you an exemple of what iam talking abou, the rtx 3050 6gb was launched in 2024, she was and still is salled like a gaming gpu, she cant run well most of those games i quoted, or you cant run at all

Dont try to confuse them with facts!
Facts dont matter anymore - what matters is who screams loudest!
We live in a time where negativity and controversy thrives thanks to Social Media.
All those complainers think they are smarter than the people whos product they consume - becasue they watched some dude on Youtube telling them so.

tell me brother, wtf do you think that is paying their salaries? jesus?
They sold 10 million, it doesnt matter at what price.
yes, its matter, we need to know how much it cost to made a game and what he gained to say it was a success, simple say that 10m was a success its pure bullshit, it could have salled everything at 1 dollar for what we know
....and? Unoptimized shit is unoptimized shit! According to you that shouldnt sell!
god, the guy is really dumb, he wants to compare fucking rockstar with the rest of the industry, and even rockstar is not immunne to selling bad because of unoptimized trash
I have no idea what you are talking about!
thats the point, you have no ideia what you're talking about, they want to do a remaster of the RDR1 in the same way of that collection, with better illumination and shit, they cancelled it after the reception and launched the remaster we get

And despite that and alllll the refunding that must have happend, it still sold 10 Million!
like i said, we dont know how much they made with those 10m because we dont know at what price they have been sold, you cant take basic logic

just remember folks that its this kind of person who in the industry right now, the guy is so freaking dumb that i think hes trolling me, it cant be real

How was E33 bad? It ran fine and looked good. Avowed was also fine, it's demanding but has good use of RT, almost no stutters and amazing lods due to nanite. Why is Doom using RT a problem? It looks great and is significantly better vs Eternal. Just because something is more demanding doesn't mean the game is poorly optimised. Same for AC shadows, it's the best looking AC game by far with really impressive RT. Demanding =\= unoptimised.

The 3050 6GB has a measly amount of VRAM, less than the freaking PS4. It's only slightly more powerful as the PS4 Pro, a console that came out 9 years ago. Of course it's going to run those games like shit, the expect sting should be sub 1080p at 30fps. Blame Nvidia for releasing a shit product.

It's going down to sub 30fps and some games aren't running at all

I don't blame Nvidia, amd or intel, i blame the end of moore laws that is happening either we like or not, they can't launch something better for that price

That's why the ps6 will have a cutdown version like series s, the own series s its already because of that, even Microsoft said that at the launch

That's why there isn't a steam deck 2 and probably won't happen

That's why they keep and will continue to launch gpu with 8gb vram

And that's why doom was bad and all those games where also bad, the fact they can't play or play very bad on the cheapest gaming gpu launched in 2024 is terrible

Kind of hyperbolic. I'm sure there are optimization issues, and I know the team working on it because of sales didn't get to fix everything before moving on.

Ran great for me on PC. It was just traversal stutters when opening doors to the next areas, but if I'm waiting for a door to open while a stutter happens...kinda the only stutter that doesn't matter.
That was also my experience with the Dead Space 1 remake. Stutters were there for sure, but I can't say that they affected my experience at all.

Also Dead Space 1 remake runs quite fast on my PC. At 1080p I saw 175–200 fps in this opening scene. Once you get past the bridge, 200–300 fps. In my opinion, that's not a bad performance for one of the least optimized games, according to Threat Interactive. However, I wasn't as impressed by the graphics as I was by those in Callisto Protocol, and I also enjoyed playing Callisto more (even though so many people say callisto is a bad game).

People like to assume that demanding games mean poor optimisation. They simply don't understand what optimisation actually means. A game can be extremely demanding yet perfectly optimized at the same time, if it will be using all available resources and techniques to maximize performance.

As for the PS4, this console has a total of 8 GB of RAM, but remember that only 5.5 GB is available to games. On top of that, developers need to divide the available RAM between the CPU and the GPU. Killzone: Shadow Fall used 3 GB of VRAM.

But you are correct, 6 GB of VRAM is no longer enough on PC. Even my old GTX 1080 from 2016 had more VRAM and became VRAM-limited around 2022. While the RTX 3050 is not ideal for modern games, it could be a good option for older games and PCs.

No, it can not, optimization is just produce the same desired result with less resources

For instance, some old games like the first god of war for the ps2 used 2d images as backgrounds in some instance that would transform in real 3d modeled background as you come close because of the lack of ram/processing power

That's what optimization means, people trying to simulate the reality with 500$ console aren't optimize anything, they're trying to use brute force to make their jobs easier since they don't need to do these kind of tricks

and that's where the issue is since you can't simulate the reality even with the best billion dollar super computer on the market let alone with a 500$ console

Developers certainly like to use artistic tricks that fool people into thinking the graphics look better than they actually do. However, optimisation is simply about making full use of all available hardware resources, without wasting cycles on unnecessary processes. For example, if a game can only use one CPU core on 8'th core CPU and cannot utilise the GPU fully, there is certainly room for optimisation.

They actually don't, it's very hard and sometimes it can't be done without redoing a lot of things or even the entire game

What they really like is to simulate the reality as close as it can be, hence the "nanites" and "lumens", the thing is those resources are very heavy and need a lot of power

They did tricks in past because there's no other way, today they think they don't need but things are starting to change since a lot of people don't want, or can't pay 700 or a 1000$ in a console, so they will need to learn how the old ones did

Don't even bother

That crowd basically want a 1060 to run 2025 games at good performances or throw a tantrum

Cry Baby GIF

Doom being a problem because of RT says it all when it's one of the most optimized RTGI game around lol

Basically go back to 2015 graphics is the whole channel's content.

I remember testing the UE5 tech demos on my old GTX 1080 and the frame rate was quite high with nanite and VSM. However Lumen (software based RT GI) certainly destroyed performance on that 10TF pascal card.

I played games on my current 60TF GPU, where HW RT GI looked much better than noisy and leaking Lumen and also ran at a much higher framerate. Sometimes, path tracing wasn't that much slower than lumen, so I'm not a fan of this technology. But I understand that developers must use Lumen because the current generation of consoles lacks hardware-accelerated ray tracing performance, so they have to use much worse software alternative.

But Nanite should definitely stay! The level of detail thanks to Nanite is incredible, and even the ground surface in Hellblade 2 is insanely detailed. You can see an insane amount of small rocks, while most games would use a simple flat texture or POM at best.
