[Arab 'insider]: Ubisoft Has Been Acquired by 'someone'

I've never heard of stock being taken away before. I'd been watching Ubi stock wondering if I should buy some because they looked like they were in acquisition territory, and there's usually a stock price bump when acquired.

Think it'll be open for trade again before we know if they're bought out?

Yeah I'm sure the Chinese would totally not meddle with Tom Clancy IP lol...probably half the reason they'd buy it is to rewrite the scripts.

Chinese Sam Fisher sneaking into America to steal secrets. That shit would be fire. One of the stages can be Nvidia's headquarters.

Remember when they fought tooth and nail to avoid getting acquired in a hostile takeover by Vivendi back in 2018?
In retrospect it might have been the better option, maybe.

AFAIK Tencent and Guillmonts combined only own like 20% - 30% of Ubisoft. Not sure about French business laws, but I would assume they'd need at least 51% approval to sell, and maybe even 2/3rds or more (67%+). Good luck convincing the pension funds and employees who are down like 90% to sell at deep all time lows for an 87% loss.

If the Arabs buy part of Ubisoft and bring Assassin's Creed back to the good 'ol days I'll start wearing robes, kneeling towards mecca and washing my feet multiple times a day.

If they bring back Jesper Kyd to score then my future wife will wear a Hijab!

Here is a little top secret, inside information for my fellow GAFHeads; something will happen this week.

I think the potential silver lining in this is that whoever buys Ubisoft might force them to get back on track to making better games which appeal to more people. Ubisoft hasn't had a good track record lately but they still own a ton of great IPs. They just need better management and direction.

That's great and all, but they're going to have to replace most of their personnel that cared more about "the message" than actually making good games.

You have to add to what the Guillemots have the percentage the company itself has, the percentage the workers have, plus the percentage of the external investors like French banks/close friends of the Guillemots or Tencent, who back the Guillemots to keep them in charge.

They together have a majority of the voting rights and don't want to sell. In fact, some time ago before investing in the new subsidiary Tencent gave money to the Guillemots to help them buy more shares and reach the point where they would be protected enough from hostile takeovers.

As far as I know, the only relationship with the Saudis is that they funded a free AC Mirage DLC set in Saudi Arabia.

Ubisoft has now a lot of woke people in key positions which combined with the past controversies I assume they won't want to have nothing to do with the Saudis.

Just now, Assassin's Creed has landed on 26 new types of screens it wasn't on before. Get ready to slice through the past on an MRI display!

Hopefully the new owners see the potential held by the Beyond Good and Evil IP. Get in touch with Michel Ancel and the original core team members, rope them back in and then bank roll a AAA seamless open world remake of the original featuring an artstyle similar to Overwatch's CG cinematics.

Then they can pick up where they left off some years back.

It would be very strange that this buyout if true, would not have had the same scrutiny as the Activision deal... Funny that.

50k Steam peak for Anno 117. More than Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed combined. 15k less than AC Shadows.

And yes they managed to make a Roman city builder incredibly woke btw.

Well, they are hardly in a monopolistic situation and are not an strategic enterprise. Also it'll reflect the new reality of the Central Europe Caliphate.
