Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare are coming to Netflix, iOS, Android, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2.

So I have ps+ but when I go to download the game it's asking me to purchase another year. I have the sub till next year.

Anyone else getting this?

Docked or handheld?

Both, although it did feel a bit smoother in handheld mode, but that may just be due to the smaller screen.

I may be wrong about it, of course, and according to that YouTube channel linked above it is locked at 60 fps, but it just didn't feel nearly as smooth to me as Pokémon Legends A-Z, which I was just playing immediately prior.

Still a massive improvement over the Switch version.

Just tried it out on Switch 2. Just at the beginning in MacFarlane's Ranch. It certainly looks and runs a ton better, but it doesn't quite feel like 60 fps to me.
Played docked for about 15 mins. It's definitely 60fps now. Haven't touched handheld yet.

Nope. Unless I need to reboot my Series X…

Edit: reboot didn't work

did you actually apply the switch 2 upgrade from the eshop? because without it you somehow get some of the upgrades but not the 60 fps.

Holy shit, you're right. How bizarre! The game automatically updated when I tried to launch it, so I assumed that was it. All the visual upgrades were there and it even said "Nintendo Switch 2" when saving the game. Never would have thought I needed to buy a $0.00 ticket in the eShop to unlock 60 fps. Thanks a lot! It's running perfectly now.

  • A smooth 60 frames-per-second experience
  • Enhanced image quality
  • HDR Support
  • Resolutions of up to 4K supported on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
  • Support for DLSS, HDR, mouse controls, and fluid 60 FPS high-resolution performance on Nintendo Switch 2

It's using DLSS on Switch 2. That's why it looks so clean

Can I grab my 360 save and import it?
Only info for save transfers from Rockstar is:

'Anyone who owns the PS4 version of Red Dead Redemption will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free, and can pick up right where they left off with their previous save data.'

So doesn't look like any original-original saves will transfer over.

Seems like the audio still isn't mixed properly for surround sound setups.
VO is very quiet (mainly in cutscenes) unless settings are set to just stereo.
No VO audio volume option either.
Premium next gen experience.

Put about 20 hours in the last week or so just randomly, nothing to do with this re-release. Just going for the platinum trophy in the hope it will bring to life the RDR2 patch.

This first game is so damn good and strikingly beautiful at times still. Obviously 2 improves on everything but this is still a delight.

Makes some modern day open world games feel old in terms of mechanics and minute to minute gameplay.

I could just watch the sunrises and sunsets in this game by my campfire for hours 🤠

Watched my ex-gf play through a couple of times back in the day…with it being free on ps plus, I'm about to jump in on ps5. Any missable trophies I need to be aware of, for anyone who platinumed the ps4 version?

Without looking at a platinum guide, because I'd rather have a human interaction whenever possible these days lol

Getting this for free because I own the Xbox 360 version is pretty cool. I played the prologue and it was good. No time to ride around with Bonnie tonight, though.

  • Red Dead Redemption has released its native versions for PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series for free if you already had the Oldgen version.
  • PS5 has slightly increased its settings compared to PS4, especially in terms of detail level, shadows, and draw distance.
  • Switch 2, although with a lower rendering resolution, closely follows PS5 in several of these settings.
  • Without a doubt, the biggest difference compared to the PS4 version is the stable 60fps on both consoles.
  • For portability reasons, I consider it an ideal title for Switch 2 given the few differences compared to PS5.
  • Red Dead Redemption is launching on Switch 2 with improvements over the first Switch, but also with some curious decisions.
  • Notable improvements include 60fps, draw distance, and higher resolution shadows.
  • In terms of resolution, Switch 2 outputs 1440p from a common resolution of 720p. Nintendo Switch 1 renders at native 1080p.
  • Load times have been reduced by more than 10 times on Switch 2.

I just finished a play through of GTA 4 yesterday and just played this a year ago or so. I booted this free upgrade 🤯 60 fps and full foliage etc. damn I might play through again.

there was one on 360 where you had to use the same horse for 20 missions without tying any horse to those posts that saves your horse...
but I don't know if the remaster kept the same achievements
Okay, I'll give a quick once over the trophy list to avoid spoilers. I imagine it's probably still there.

I thought ps4 version was good., but ps5 is so much nicer so far. Csnt wait to replay undead nightmare after all years

I figured it out. Wife was trying to get me the holiday sale on premium but it wasn't working so she forgot to remove it from my cart.

Never finished this game. Really tempted to pick it up on Switch 2. Does it actually look good on a large 4K display in person?

I'm probably better off picking it up on PC but I haven't finished RDR2 either, and I might as well do that first on PC.
