100%. Kratos was fully justified in everything he did in the OG trilogy. He was an extreme victim of flanderization, even by the fucking studio that made him.

I know we are talking about fictional character here (and demigod lol) but he was born in Greece and as far as modern history knows, people in Greece weren't black or even as dark skinned as Indians or Arabs etc. They have a bit darker skin than northern Europeans but most features are very similar:

Uh honestly, I think that's a pretty compelling story.
GoW2018's Kratos and obviously his portrayal in Ragnarok show a profoundly troubled character with deep regrets. He's learning to control his anger and seek peace because he's come to realize that that anger has caused him to do unspeakable things.
His son going back in time to try to temper that rage before it gets out of hand, even if it means sacrificing himself- obviously if the events of the original trilogy don't pan out, Atreus might never be born.
That's a compelling story.
Or Atreus goes back in time, tries to convince Kratos and his family that shit is about to go down, fails. Still gets tricked by Ares, kills wife, and now BOTH kids, and then his rage goes even further beyond.
This is not good for a variety of reasons, mainly because it invalidates everything happened before, making Kratos's journey meaningless. That's the worst sin possible in a sequel, just like "everything was a dream".
Kratos's arc is finished, tney should leave him alone or start a new arc altogether, without any link to the past.

This statement only works within the context of the studio only being able to put out very small scale AA games, in comparison to their big AAA efforts in the past.
Which is obviously not the case, and there is nothing wrong with a AAA developer releasing smaller AA projects from time to time.

Honestly, with how Ragnarok played out, I'd probably end up loving something like this a lot more. If it's good of course, lol. I have a soft spot for Metroidvanias, and the GoW IP could certainly do that well.I reckon it's this?

Majority of people do not share this but as a player who played original trilogy in their time (and loved them), I really like the old Kratos. You can see he became wiser and he matured in his lonely journey.
I definitely wouldn't say no to a new GoW at all.

Honestly it's the Americans who have introduced this whole race obsession. When I grew up in Sweden it was always about ethnicity and nothing else. Talking about different Europeans was focused on their culture and mindset. Of course looks too, but more like "Greeks have these strong characteristics and brown eyes and hair and listen to Zorba". "British are redheads and very pale and eat fried fish". Interestingly enough I remarked to a friend as Sweden took in a lot of Afghans, that they were like the bridge looks-wise between Asians and Caucasians. And he was like "I've thought about that exact same thing" lol. So yeah, this whole racial thing is very fluid and it makes more sense to me to separate by ethnicity than skin color.

That last part sounds way more fun than the alternatives (and so, obviously, it won't happen).
Some people might say Kratos succumbing to his rage is an idea already milked to its logical conclusion. I'd say those people are cowards.
