Capcom: "Grace And Leon's Sections in Resident Evil Requiem Are Almost Equally Split"

Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi told Automaton that Leon and Grace will share the game's runtime equally. "In terms of gameplay, Grace and Leon's playable sections are almost equally split," Nakanishi said. "The structure is similar to Resident Evil Revelations."

Nakanishi added that Requiem is Leon's first return to Raccoon City since his time in Resident Evil 2, "so seeing how he responds to the 'place where it all began' now that he's older is another major point of interest." In terms of designing this more gruff Leon for Requiem, the director said, "Although he's a character who carries a lot on his shoulders, we took a lot of care in refining him to be an 'ikeoji' [a cool/attractive guy]," adding that the reaction to this new trailer made the development team happy.

Never played Revelations.. Is that a good thing or a bad thing being structured that way?
Revelations 1 was episode based. The whole structure was similar to a TV show, even with the whole "Previously, on RE: Revelations" thing before each episode.

I just hope the don't do this here.

Revelations 2 is a really fun game and I liked the structure in that quite a bit. Essentially the levels were designed to take advantage of both characters' specific set of abilities and you could switch between them to solve things "together".

I don't know if that's what he means or if he's specifically referring to Revelations 1 or what.

i think this RE ll flop hard.

As long as it's good and it flows well, I really don't care. Just hoping for a good/great outcome. I never played 6 because at the time I thought it looked ridiculous, this still doesn't look like it's THAT level. So, I'm still interested.

I like the first Revelations. That being said though, it wasn't about boring af hide & seek gameplay so hopefully it's only in the beginning of the game, cuz boy oh boy do I not want to do this shit more than once.

But one character played different than the other (stronger). It was also limited to tank controls at the time.
"stronger" is different than having 50% of the game survival ( RE1 2 3 7 ) and 50% action ( RE 4 5 6 8 ), i can see this game being really divisive in the community

I thought this game was going to be RE7, and she would evolve as an FBI Agent.
Famitsu interview says it's RE2 Remake plus RE4 Remake for Leon.
Now is RE Revelations.
I'm confused. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Leon went from not appearing in the game at all to having a fifty-fifty campaign along with Grace.

😀

Capcom should have more faith in the new characters.

Yeah they aren't Chris/Jill/Claire/Leon, but the direction RE7 went was good, until they shoehorned "Chris" in.

I think Capcom is worried about sales being negatively impacted if they don't include one of the RE poster children in each game.

Difficult thing to do. It ruined the pacing of the Last of Us 2. It kind of worked in Alan Wake 2 but you were able to pick at various locations who you wanted to play. Can't seem them doing the same thing here. My personal opinion is that they are doing this to please both crowds. Those who like the more slower pace of Resident Evil like the first game. The hotel is very reminiscent of the mansion. The other group is the people who like 8 and RE4 Ramake, which I imagine is what Leon's sections will be like. One issue is Resident Evil 6 kind of tried this.

yeah, i just wanted a full RE survival horror game and not half survival, half action.... what a mess.

i think this RE ll flop hard.
Hopefully this turns out good, but I don't understand why Capcom is dead set on making RE games into action games and trying to position their characters like "real" actors—the new Resident Evil starring "Leon S. Kenndy"... uh what?
It is a weird obsession.

Better than the last act 20 minute Chris fan service segment in Village.
They did chris dirty. He wasn't in much in anything in the past since re6.

Village should have been split up between them equally too. But the whole game was shit with vampires, werewolves, puppets and hunchback from notre Dame, so it wouldn't have saved the game.

Id rather they split the modes like orirginal.RE and RE2
Unfortunately this won't have it, if I understand them correctly. 2 scenarios with crossing segments would have been really better.

Also I don't understand people who wanted leon, but the same time complain about action. You can't put leon in and take away his mechanics from re4. That would suck.

I would love an episodic RE game that each game is a new hazard with common ppl as protag.

It takes all the tension when i have to play as a super soldier, Cris, Leon and Jill should be only support characters by now.

You can keep her. I'll take Jill any day of the week:
I personally find more exciting to play as new character than just keep playing as same character over and over again.

Also I still want proper survival horror in my RE so her section will give me that.

My worry is it'll be no enemy variety and just cheap jump scares. RE7 mold people got boring fast.

RE2R is the best of both worlds though
