Each time I unpin Edge from the taskbar, it shows up again when I start my computer up the next day.
In fact, it shows 2 Edge icons thee days.

I'd consider doing this when they fix the anti-cheat issue. So I can play BF6.
I literally only use my PC for gaming and to pay my bills now. Pretty sure bazzite would be fine for that.

From what i gather, All Windows issues are not gaming related but OS/Privacy related.
With Linux you don't have these issues but in contrast, game compatibility and performance is worse.
Thing is, you can fix/avoid most of the Windows issues mentioned in this thread using debloaters. In fact, the biggest issue for me would be which debloater to use as it seems there are many.
But with Linux you can't fix the compatiblity/performance issues with games. Your only choice is to wait for updates to fix them.
Also, most issues are Windows 11 related. Windows 10 has much less issues (and you can debloat that as well) so you can use that. It still gets updated for 3 years if you use the tsforge activator.

A cloud backup system should prompt and ask first, whether it's Steam or Microsoft. As to which is worse, Valve isn't uploading your whole documents folder to their own servers without asking. And then potentially training their LLM on the contents of your word documents once they have all of that info unencrypted on their computer.
Microsoft did this to people who had One Drive disabled. Not just installed in the background. Disabled. One software update later and all of a sudden all of your personal files are on their servers even though you chose a backup service that uses end-to-end encryption.
If you don't think Microsoft dictating how you use your computer is a big deal, I dunno what to tell you. Valve certainly thought it was a big deal. They were worried that Microsoft would push changes that made it hard to compete with a Microsoft storefront and that users would have to simply take it because there was no alternative. Hence SteamOS and their push to make Linux competitive.

If you are really concerned with privacy, you shouldn't be playing games on the computer you do everything else with. There have been hacks for multiplayer games that exploit PCs just by connected to a bad server or client. Is it extremely common? No, but it's a big possible point of entry.
I'm very interested to see how game mode ends up working once it's rolled out to all Windows 11 PCs. A controller driven Xbox DNA derived 10 foot interface would be great. Especially if that mode disables a good chunk of the bloat automatically.

It has a ways to go before its my main gaming OS, but I might play around with Bazzite on my 4090. While DX12 to Vulkan translation is far and away their biggest issue, other things like stability were still an issue too.

As an example, the recent windows feature\update breaking NVIDIA performance in games. You get unwanted features and worse performance in games!

I never chose to use OneDrive, always turn off as much of that crap as I can, and one day it was just integrated into Windows Explorer. I think the only "account requirement" is a Microsoft account

I always tun off one drive (and auto start in task menager) after every windows install since W10.
I tried Linux experience ~2010 with Ubuntu, after nvidia driver break the whole GUI my adventure ended, lol. Maybe some years from now when everything "just works" I will migrate to Linux (maybe steam os will work on desktop pcs officially).

IMO, Steam OS is a bad choice for a desktop OS. Yes, it has a desktop mode but the way it's setup it's designed to be used as a game console.
If you have a desktop you want to play games on like you do under Windows. Then whatever Linux distro of choice you prefer with an installation of Steam will give you the ability to play games. And the much better desktop experience with proper user accounts and security.

One of the first things I do when I install Windows is to uninstall OneDrive so I never saw any of this happening. And even if happen some day will not be an issue for gaming.

I bet little rodrigo had the same arguments about ME, Vista, 8 and 8.1. So close thread, nothing constructive to talk about.
BTW I'm coming up on a month with Bazzite as my main OS and I haven't booted into windows once. While this guy is arguing about the joys of Windows and how to make it the Bestest OS EVAR(!) I'm too busy gaming with my Nvidia card in Linux to care about them. I'm just a bit sick of coming to this thread and seeing his BS all the time. Would be nice to just talk about a solution for people who aren't making blood sacrifices for no reason to Windows.

The difference is those issues are fixed quickly and you have the ability to easily rollback your drivers/updates to something more stable.
I dont understand Linux users complaining about some windows feature when you can remove it easily.

I don't understand Windows users. Y'all are the biggest doormats I've ever seen. Willing to let Microsoft spy, train its LLM on your files/browsing habits. Break core features of your operating system experience on the regular.
You could play 98% of the games you want at almost performance parity with Linux but you're willing to let Microsoft do the digital equivalent of random cavity searches just so you can play some Valorant or Fortnite.

Most likely, you just need to switch to the latest ProtonGE to fix that issue.Yeah, just me:
2-second fix.
3-second fix if you have to download the latest ProtonGE.
It's a well-known problem with an easy solution.
The problem itself is actually caused by Windows Codecs. Stock Proton can't decipher which codec to use, because there are so many. ProtonGE or Proton experimental fixes the issue.
I knew the answer because I've run into the problem before, but even if I hadn't a quick google search would have given you the solution.

Are you using the Steam Version of the game? I've played it, it works fine for me with Cachy and Bazzite.
You have to use SteamDeck=1 as a launch option and use ProtonGE
Again, a simple Google search would have given you the answer.

You'll eventually just get sick of talking to him because the argument basically distills down to:
1) Windows Gaming problems are always quickly fixed. Even when they're not.
2) The only lens we should look at an operating system through is gaming. Even if there's only a 15-20 FPS difference, that means Windows wins.
3) Constantly move goalposts when someone brings up something Windows is deficient at when related to gaming.

Yes. I am on Nobara. Everything works except cutscenes that are videos. Black screen with audio only. Again, ProtonGE latest changed nothing.

I like how easy you make it sound.
There a fuckton of distros, each with their own driver, some even baked in drivers. Everything works until it doesn't because some thing about your specific hardware is going to interfere with something else
Have a hybrid decided/discreet GPU? Better look up the correct command lines or tools to have your games use your discreet GPU
Have an Nvidia GPU? Enjoy the hefty performance loss.
Can't increase/decrease brightness of your screen? Open up the specific bootloader of your specific distro and add a specific command as a workaround.
But hey at least I can easily move the taskbar around in Linux
They are. The general problems you might come across Windows are an inconvenience compared to Linux.
With an Nvidia GPU the performance loss can be as bad as 20%. Downplaying this is extremely silly.
