Note to self: don't just jump into a new trial after 45 days unsubbed. Game wouldn't recognize my controller so I had to troubleshoot in real-time during combat lol. Vaguely remembered my rotation on keyboard but I was panicking

Anyway, I'd love to grind out the cart mount (99 totems of course, because these devs love to keep things fresh) but I don't think I have the time or patience for it right now. Too hooked on Ghost of Yotei, and then Battlefield 6 will probably steal me away this weekend as well. Here's hoping it's not dead content whenever I'm ready to grind it out.

Also did the first set of floors of the new Deep Dungeon and I appreciate that they made an effort in making it look and feel different aesthetically... but when it comes down to it, it's just another flavor of the same ol'. If you enjoy DD then I'm sure you'll enjoy this as well but if you're like me and got bored of DD back in Stormblood, then this probably won't revitalize your interest.

New trial is fun enough, but yeah, 99 totems or mad luck in normal mode for the cart mount is tedious, but not a lot else to do I guess. New deep dungeon is def more of the same. It's completely trivial up til about floor 60, then you have to pay a slight bit of attention. Def not enough scraps to last a few days let alone til December. Ah well, I too will jump back into Ghost of Yotei lol

Got my floor 100 clear finally in the new deep dungeon. . . only to figure out they made it take EIGHT floor 71 through 100 clears to get the chandelier mount, plus another 2 more for the profile plate, and maybe a few more after that for misc stuff... Quantum boss only gives a title at hardest, and other than that only drops the same RNG bags you get from weekly challenge logs. Will prob take another week to clean it all out. Solo clear will be trivial as well compared to the other deep dungeons. The normal mode final boss is pretty easy, but only drops phoenix downs or pilgrim potions with a tiny chance at giving you the RNG bag.

Got 8th clear of 71-100 for 4 accessories that give the achievement mount. Working on Quantum 40 and 2 more clears for profile plate before doing a solo run to finish off... the entirety of the patch outside of the dumb 30k hoard achievement that got added because FUCK THAT

7.4 Live Letter Part 1 was last Friday but the only thing of note was that they broke some emergency glass and are unlocking glamour restrictions across all jobs.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting today is because it seems our new pink hair localization lead Kate Cwynar has been replaced after just one expansion. This YT channel was given the chance to tour CBU3 and when they met Koji Fox, he introduced a new guy as the localization LEAD:

Honestly I haven't really been paying attention, but I've heard that she's been saying dumb and political stuff on Bluesky so I wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor, along with the reception to Dawntrail's writing of course.

Was an interesting look inside the studio. Sorta frustrating they invite people that don't really play the game though. I guess it keeps the intrusive questions at bay that way though.

This one is pretty good. It kind of explains why we don't see Koji during live letters anymore. Good for him, but at the same time I really miss his live translations and interpretations a lot. It's great that the fan community does some live translations, but it isn't remotely the same and is kinda lame of SE to not provide considering there's more English players than Japanese ones.

Got my solo clear of Pilgrim's Traverse taken care of, so that's all of 7.35 dealt with. Started working on more of my mentor roulette achievement. Just about at 500\2000 runs done.

Latest census is out and it seems we're back to Stormblood numbers. All that progress lost over the course of a single expansion. And we've still got a year+ until the next one...


Honestly it feels worse than Stormblood did, though. Thanks to DC travel, Primal PF is basically dead and visiting Solution 9 is like walking through a ghost town at off-peak times. In Stormblood, I would see people in Rhalgr's Reach at any time of day.

I started an alt on a whim to see how fast I could get to 100 on a preferred world (halfway through stormblood apparently) and noticed a marked increase in queue times even on Aether during peak hours. It's going to get ugly.

I wouldn't worry too much. Ain't no way it'll ever get Endwalker launch queue ugly ever again. That shit was awful. I would remote queue from my phone while at work hours before I got off, and still be waiting when I got home. That's if I was lucky and didn't get an error and booted from queue.

Edit: Oh you mean dungeon queues? I thought we're talking about login queues. Yeah that's probably pretty bad right now.

I'm on the second quest of the 7.4 MSQ and had to pause because there's something weird going on with Graha's voice. I'm thinking he may have been recast. Some people are gonna lose their mind if so
Edit: His voice gets better as the MSQ goes on, so maybe he was just rusty when he got back into the recording booth

Yeah there is not a lot here to tide anyone over past the first 4 hours, especially with OC closed due to bug. Since they added the Ruby Weapon minion back for crystals I now have EVERY minion, all 557 unique minions.

MSQ was good, and I'm liking the direction that we're heading in. Now that Tural (and Wuk Lamat) are firmly in the rear view mirror, the story is free to focus on the best parts of Dawntrail: all the 9th lore and worldbuilding, which allows Krile to get more time to shine.

7.4 MSQ was decent, though it almost feels like cheating when the whole thing revolves around lalafells being adorable. I still think they could have done a lot more with Krile's character arc (it should have been a main plotline in 7.0), but it was nice to see it finally addressed here. Not sure I'm on board with the ascians returning as the primary antagonists, considering how 6.0 was a pretty definitive conclusion to their story.

Raid tier was pretty fun, but the music was a mixed bag. They really hyped up the Tom Morello song but as someone who grew up listening to RATM and has no idea who or what a Beartooth is, I think the song is kinda corny. Maybe it gets better in Savage but eh...

IMO the best song of this tier is Sinister from M9, and the best song of the entire raid series is still Give It All from M4.

I'm partial to The Mirror from M10 myself; really nails that "90s surfer dude" vibe. But yeah, the Morello collab track is just kind of okay....I wish it more thematically connected to the opponent like the other raid tracks are. Also agree about Give It All....best track in 7.x so far in my opinion, though the FF9 remix tracks are pretty great.

Honestly I would be more impressed if they just straight up admitted they have no idea what they are doing and have no idea how to prevent DDoSes any more.
