IGN: Top 10 Best Stealth Games, Ranked

I know this thread was bumped by an odd response, but it would be cool to see someone make a top ten "Best incidental stealth games" with games that aren't primarily developed around stealth but incidentally ended up having great stealth mechanics.

On that second list I'd nominate games like Skyrim and Hogwarts Legacy, both of which I had more fun performing stealth in than some actual stealth games.

List is surprisingly decent, even if I'm not sure about Hitman being number 1, and I think they limited 1 game per series.

Most of these games are good, and I'm shocked they picked the objectively correct Thief entry out of the series to put in.

Glad MGSV is the only Metal Gear game in this list. Game was unfinished, but it's the only great stealth sandbox in the series, with truly excellent mechanics/systems, and solid controls. The older entries have some fun tools, some cool level design moments...but I've never thought their stealth gameplay were ever top-tier, and they are more memorable for their cinematic aspects.

Dodgy list. Speaking of stealth shit, saw a tweet about this one cos of its anniversary, never heard of it before, looks kinda rad. PS2 era Metal Gear Solid by Swery65 instead of Kojima. Seems like a pretty damn impressive clone for 2003 too (after MGS2 but before MGS3, likely made after MGS).

I just played Spy Fiction for a bit to check it out and it's pretty rad. I've started the first mission after its prologue stuff. Everything is much more simplistic and rigid than MGS2+, from its animations and controls to AI behaviors and everything, but at the same time it works fine as a whole and feels pretty good, with unique stuff of its own like the central disguise feature and all sorts of other gadgets and possibilities with them (not that it's a sandbox or anything like new-Hitman, again, it's pretty rigid). Lol, I didn't really expect a reply from Swery (I asked him for a Spy Fiction sequel/successor).

IGN is full idiots, seriously, what kind of fucking list is this?

At the very top it should be every Metal Gear game, and then maybe around 6th or 7th you could put something like that isometric Commandos game, which is more stealth than most of the shit on that list.

The top games on IGN's list have stealth as an optional or a temporary condition (MGSV, Hitman).
Rockstar's Manhunt (PS2) is the one of the few AAA games built around a complex stealth mechanic with relatively few non-stealth events.

Thief and Thief 2 are the most authentic "stealth-sim" experiences out there, nothing else even comes close.
