Grand Theft Auto 6 Will Not See Another Delay At Risk of Losing Hype, Says Former Animator

Former animator Mike York believes that Rockstar Games is busy with making sure Grand Theft Auto 6 is as polished as it can be.

Not necessarily a bad thing. the game was running sub 30 fps in the gameplay demo. maybe this helps them get performance up to a solid 30 on consoles.

Damn Avatar really is stunning w/Unobtainium settings. Runs suprisingly well maxed out at 4K DLSS Quality. 70+ fps throughout. I turned on 2x Frame Gen for that ~110+fps feel.

I am tempted to get this game just for the eye candy. I remember playing it at launch with Ubi+ and finding the game boring apart from the graphics but people keep saying the new expansion is awesome. We'll see

For anyone interested in Avatar, in the Ubisoft store the base game is 10 euros if you use the code Holiday. Just got the game

Oh avatar, such a great graphic for such a shit game, it reminds me of shadow...

People are saying that the game plays much better in third person view and the new expansion is a blast.

There is no much going on with games until at least february so I am gonna give it a try

I assume the code is a one time use per account?
I'm not a big Avatar fan and probably would just play it as a tech demo on my 4090...
What about SW Outlaws for 11€? Is the game any better now or still shit?
Any other recommendations from the Ubishit store?

Outlaws is actually pretty good. I enjoyed it. I think it's a better game than Avatar. I definitely would recommend it for that price

So they fixed that broken stealth? At release this game made AC Shadows a masterpiece?

I couldn't play it, which is a shame, it looks amazing.

Yeah, you dont need to use stealth at all now, you can carry weapons and freely shoot from the hoverbike. Its good after all the updates.

Yup, delay, hell even double delay of 1 year is still preferable as long as game is ambitious, 60 or even 120fps at launch w/o delay means shit if game looks and plays lastgen.

Started playing Avowed and surprisingly.....it looks really good? I always thought Obsidian's games look mediocre so was not expecting to be blown away. Pleasantly surprised!

Graphically speaking looks really good yes. They know how to use UE5

Outer Worlds 2 looks fantastic too, even better in my opinion

Replaying Guardians of the Galaxy and I really like the character detail.

Also, quite possibly the best rendered doggo in any game yet.

The game's IQ is also pin-sharp in the Quality/RT mode. Such a good game that bombed at retail.

I don't understand how microsoft is not able to properly showcase these games in marketing or even their capture not being even that good. Avowed AND outer worlds 2 I found it so much much better looking while playing than any of their PR material.

I thought dlss4 didn't work with this game at all. The same artifacts i saw in other games are really apparent in foliage. Good to see they have fixed the water finally but i turned off ray reconstruction and switched back to dlss4 because they are both very expensive even on a 5080.

id recommend people stick with legacy DLSS, turn it to quality, set it to biased, and max out the rt reflections setting. at max, it does not have that shimmering especially if your GPU can get close to native scaling. (Biased will increase it from 67% to 100% if your GPU has extra headroom available.)

"It's not that great if you're not in the nature". I wonder if they played GoY at all.
i actually agree with them on this. Kcd2 looks best in the wilderness, but the city did nothing for me. Haven't played yotei but from what I've seen of their own footage, its interiors look far worse than kcd2's.

Really? I thought Kuttenberg looked incredible.

For the most part, it's some of the best global illumination I've seen that doesn't rely on ray tracing.

This game looked insane even on a base ps5. Really high quality materials on characters that really shined during cutscenes.

Gameplay was mostly in the cross Gen territory.

It never clicked with me because the buildings looked like cardboard cutouts. The indirect lighting was definitely above average.

The shimmering when using DLSS4 happens because of a bad configuration in sharpness. When using DLSS4, the in-game sharpening must always be set to 0 otherwise you will get shimmering in every single game

DLSS4= In-game sharpness to 0

Always, and no, DLSS4 looks much better in every single game compared to the older version

You would think that most users in this thread, obsessed with graphics, would know this basic information about DLSS4 but here we are

There are instances where DLSS3 can be better, like AC Shadows - (at least at launch) it had massive problems with ghosting + fog.

But yeah, sharpness on 0 should be standard with Transformer model.

That was most likely a launch bug. Previous DLSS versions also had bugs and visual glitches in their early implementations. But when you look at the results across practically every game, the image quality is clearly much better overall. Look at comparisons between the actual version of DLSS in RDR2 and DLSS4. The difference is huge

At this point, I don't think this is even debatable.

Yeah, RDR2 had (and still has!) shit implementation of DLSS, even in 2024 when I changed it to latest version of DLSS3 it was night and day difference (and DLSS4 is even better).

In most games transformer is absolutely better (for example big difference in Ghostwire Tokyo), in new releases developers don't even offer choice because it usually is K preset by default.

Elden Ring still shocks me almost all the time, not graphics fidelity necessarily, the art direction is out of this world. Such a masterpiece.

Yup, it's one of the best artistic vision and coherence in an open world in the history of video games

I really don't care about the technical fidelity if it can look like that

Most of these are in engine and some CG videos mostly UE5 games.

Fortunately or unfortunately I think gfx are getting irrelevant now.

Avatar with ray reconstruction or framegen on is causing my 5080 to bug the fuck out. the wattage hits 350, fans go loud, artifacts and blocky shadows start appearing on screen. its like wtf is even the point of upgrading if the GPU isnt designed to use all of its rt and framegen features? i have to cap it at 60 fps to ensure the wattage remains below 300 like it does in other games.

my guess is that ray reconstruction and framegen use tensor cores and it pushes the tdp above what this gpu is capable of doing. it typically sits around 270 watts in most games even when maxed out. really shitty by nvidia.

Is turning dlss4 in rdr2 as easy as switching something in the nvidia app or it require ANY other step?

Playing rdr2 with a decent fucking iq could be generational...

The normal pc version never looked as sharp as it should.

Yeah, just change it in the nvidia app and use DLAA too by selecting it in the nvidia app. The game looks absolutely fantastic this way

There is a couple of mods that make it look very modern, the terrain overhaul mod makes all ground textures hd, and xtremegrass that adds more grass. These two mods are imo essential to make the game look awesome

You just need to do this (works for every game supported by NV App):

Do i need to keep the nvidia app running while i play?

I can't express how much i hate having anything running in background while i play, windows and its 47573647565646 process are fucking enough...
