They showing this game off every month. Feels like i played it already... Just stfu, work on it and release when its ready
lol i get it. they've been showing this game since 2020. at some point, there is too much exposure. that said, id rather have this then the top secret way ND handles their games.
Did the console versions get this update too?
not sure. ive only played the PC version.
I'll try things that don't exist for 200 Alex!
SSR is great in this game. When i started the game, I had to double check if my ray tracing effects were already turned on because the puddle reflections looked excellent. RT reflections add so much more though. they touch other metallic objects, they enhance the puddles with more accurate reflections, and give a lot of the floor tiles reflections that werent there before.
my biggest issue with SSR is the stupid occlusion issues around the character models. it didnt effect FPS games but third person games with SSR really started to get on my nerves this gen. i do not remember it being this bad last gen where the worst thing i would notice was reflections disappearing if i looked down on the water.
my guess is that some devs just handled them poorly which is why you saw all those noisy, blurry and terrible looking reflections. Its gotten even worse this gen since they can now always fall back on RT. Callisto literally has no fallback reflections in many areas. But the great devs used SSR to great effect. Games like HFW, TLOU2, and RDR2 had great SSR reflections with no halo effects around character models or other visual oddities. It was a great compromise solution for last gen hardware that didnt have RT features. There is no going back though. I fucking love RT reflections.
So yeah, Lazy devs be lazy.
Yeah it had RT from day one but was also stuttering with it turned on. I don't know how it behaves now.
Stuttering is still there but i locked it to 60 fps and its fine now. basically my 5080 can run the non RT version at 120 fps (my tv's max refresh rate) with like 30% of the GPU unused. With RT on it hovers around 90-100 fps but the stuttering is bad. Ive seen this in UE4 games whenever you turn on RT. its more of a CPU related bottleneck since RT was kinda just slapped on in UE4. Jedi Survivor still has those stutters. But newer CPUs should not have this stutter. My CPU actually cant do path tracing in Wukong and hardware lumen in Outer Worlds 2 due to CPU bottlenecks.
