Girl Racer

Interesting I think f1 would like that she is light but I do not know that she would have the strength to hold a car for a race.

The headline is a bit of clickbait, she's not aiming for "F1 top spot", she wants to win the "F1 Academy", which is a female only competition and feeds to F3 and F2; it's not "F1" itself.

Wow that article takes a giant leap.

First she's got to prove she can compete at a higher level. F1 Academy isn't really a show case of that. She's gonna have to prove she can beat the likes of Marta Garcia, Abbi Pulling and Dorian Pin, and if she can then she makes it to the bottom rung of a tall ladder.

Take Abbi for example, she won F1 Academy then went into GB3 getting zero wins. Not exactly the type you'd expect to be conquering Verstappen next.

Saying that, F1 is a changeable sport, maybe in the future when each team is a nepo outfit and all the drivers are Lance Strolls, maybe Maisy will have a good shot.

Well, she's probably gonna nab a bunch of sponsorships regardless of her future success. I'm sure there are reasons why women aren't anywhere near the top of this sport and maybe F1 academy can find and address them.

Reaction time, faster impulsive decision making (especially under stress) and strength favor men over women.

Probably not too many men out there with the skills and body to reach the top of the sport.

It's physically punishing.

I'm going to guess that there are many fewer women with the physical apparatus to match or beat that. It's a game of numbers. Certainly not saying zero women in the world, but fewer than men.

In the more like this section there are 4 other stories about kids who do karting wanting to be in F1 or other motorsports. It's like any kid who wins a tennis tournament is obviously going to say they want to play at Wimbledon or whatever. A tiny fraction of them will ever achieve it.

My understanding is that women handle g forces better than men. I don't know if it's a significant amount, especially at the upper limit of the bell curve like these folks would be.
