Make those binoculars useful. I swear to God I will trash Marathon if Embark figures out a way to make scouting with those things fun. I will proclaim ARC Raiders the one true God if they can just do this for me

legendary versions with night or heat vision would be really cool.

Yeah this is a tough one because the maps are big enough but seemingly there's not much point using them currently. Maybe a tagging feature on Arc that lasts for a short while?

I've said it before but their communication is dogshit. A simple tweet or quick blog post to let everyone know stuff would suffice. A discord post here and there ain't it.

Tagging might be cool. That would be the most realistic "fix" for the current version of the game but I don't think it fulfills the fantasy of binoculars.

They ideally would be used in settings where picking up information from players, without them knowing, is more optimal than shooting at them. It's hard to think of a scenario where that would work in ARC Raiders as everything moves too fast right now.

Played for the first time in weeks since I was traveling for the holidays, but the amount of people getting pissy when they run into an area that I'm in is borderline hysterical.

Sorry, not sorry if you come running in my direction not knowing your intention. Especially, if you fire the first shot. Direct quote from a duo "Sorry bro, let's talk about this". Before I finish him off, says fuck you to me and tells his buddy. I thanked him for tipping me off that his friend was around and did him in too.

The PvP element is what makes the game so tense and unpredictable but it's frustrating at times especially if someone acts friendly and then turns at your most vulnerable moment.

Having said that all is fair in a game designed around loot and extracting and the more gamers understand that the more they'll appreciate this brilliant game.

What I find annoying is that I never attack other players in solo. But I always get shot in the back. I win the fight, but I get labeled as the bad guy and end up in PvP lobbies. It can't be that difficult to determine who shoots first.

It's wild that the consensus was this game was going to die because it was dropped in between Battlefield and COD but yet it's outlasted them both, loved the tests but still haven't bought it yet.

I was one of those who thought I would only play arc briefly because of bf. But I only actively played BF 6 for one week until Arc came out.

I'm having the same issue right now and honestly it's making me quite sour on the game.
I'd rather they just didn't matchmake and had it completely random.

How is it my fault I beat some dudes ass that tried to kill me. Every single lobby I'm in now people are shooting constantly.

The best thing to do after that is to go in without a weapon, with a free loadout, let yourself be killed, and after two deaths you'll be back in friendly lobbies. Annoying, but at the moment that's the fastest method.

After clarky clarky said Stella Montis was his most played map, I decided to immerse myself in its waters and attempt to understand its appeal.

The result: It's now my most played map. It's very satisfying and easy to camp and you tend to extract the fattest on it.

That said, I don't believe this is a good sign for ARC Raiders. It removes the large open world, the longer engagement distances, the mid level ARC...It shrinks the canvas down to a near arena shooter like level.

The popularity of this map is an indictment on the other 4 maps. Embark has lots of work to do with those big maps.

The f*** it was consensus! I was trashing BF6 before launch for it's repetitive gameplay loop and meager progression. Some of us got the last 7 Battlefield vaccines which innoculated us against that weak *** BF6 hype.

What a lot of people don't realize and it is no shock to me, is that Embark actually cares about the product. Yeah, they're communication at times isn't great, but they're not to the degree of Activision and EA.

I had high hopes for BF6, but that game is a slog and has a wide array of issues and they don't even seem focused on fixing it. Best thing I did is straight up delete the game. The glory days of that franchise is gone and it ain't coming back.

Embark releasing this at $40 was icing on the cake.

New update posted in the Discord about cheaters. Apparently updates are coming.

Raiders!

We've seen the discussion around the topic of cheaters in ARC Raiders. Please know that we are taking this issue very seriously and are listening to, and acting on your feedback.

Over the next few weeks, we are implementing significant changes to our rulesets and deploying new detection mechanisms to identify and remove cheaters. This includes updating our Anti-Cheat systems for improved detection and bans, as well as applying client-side fixes specifically addressing the "out of map" glitch. Furthermore, we are introducing tools for streamers to help mitigate stream sniping.

Thank you for your valuable feedback and for helping us make ARC Raiders a fair and fun experience for everyone.

The ARC Raiders Team

After 6 hours, I've finally been ratted boys. He didn't get anything but a free kit and maybe some toilet paper. I'm not a PvP guy anymore, but if one encounter every 6 hours of gameplay is the rate, I'm fine with it. I gave it some thought, and a PvE mode would completely ruin this game. The tension and excitement that you get is knowing there might be a rat. The good news is in my experience it's very uncommon. Just enough to keep the threat alive in your head and on your nerves, and that imo is perfection in this experience.

Can confidently say this is the best game since Elden Ring and the best game to come out of the west in quite some time. The polish around the edges is as good as game on the market. True craftsmanship. Couldn't be more happy for the guys at Embark. Imagine being insanely successful at your corpo job and still get absolutely shit on. So you leave the billion dollar corp and forge a tiny startup with intentions of taking down Goliath. And then you fucking do it. Even when Goliath is in his best form in a decade, you just wiped the floor with him. Every working man with a pulse must be able to get some excitement out of that. I'm buying cosmetics, fuck it. Haven't done so since Killing Floor 2, and I only ever do it as a way of tipping the devs.

How do you guys triage when to use your gear vs going out with a free kit? I'm finding I get exceedingly sweaty if I bring anything I've upgraded or care about. Just been running free loadouts and it just dissolves the pressure. The ARCs are hard enough, that much like in a From Soft game, I don't consider anything I can do to them "cheese". Which is a really nice feature that we don't give credit to often. When there's no room for cheese, you're really allowed to use your full imagination to tackle the enemy. There's nothing Souls-Like about it, but I get the same emotions playing it that I get in Souls. Tension gambling in a very aesthetic environment.

I generally use gear when I'm playing with my squad but if I'm just questing or doing solo loot runs I might just run a free loadout and keep upgrading that each run until I lose it then I'll start again. Don't stress about losing gear you can easily find new stuff!

It's the best place to get mats for guns fast. Purple crafting materials, simple gun and Mechanical parts.

Good battles to be had in the Lobby, assembly & loading bay and the station extract is great for camping and kick offs.

If you don't want a fight you can be in and out in a couple of minutes.

It started as a nice change of pace to the regular maps, now its the other way around.

Stella is an alright map, but it doesn't feel nearly as thoughtful as the other maps (IMO). I rarely play it as it just doesn't feel like AR to me.

I hated it to start with, very confusing, but its clearly designed as a PVP map. If you are (not you specifically) on the PVE side of things then it's kinda pointless, everything gets looted in seconds then everyone leaves.

Thing's snowball fairly rapidly if you get a few aggressive teams on the map. Need it vacate the area and reset pronto if (when) you end up in a fight.

Imagine if they updated Complex from GoldenEye and that's how I think of SM. I think it's a wonderfully thought-out space actually, strong with its own design and theming, albeit in a much more compact space compared to the other maps.

Love how it all connects together. Very well designed.

Anyone who is struggling to find their way around I would ignore the map and follow the signs in game.

Urgh, that stickman cheat is pure gutter rat.

I dont know if im playing a different game, but PVP really is not everyones top priority.

I've played many games where most players are friendly and team up.

It's actully a rare occurance where PVP happens. Another reason why i really like this game.

So to wall hack to see players seems almost pointless when its not really a PVP game.

Love that map when the lights are out. Had some brilliant rounds, and some brutal ones..

An Il Toro IV makes mincemeat of shredders :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Getting the Ion Sputters for the second expedition was absolute ballache :messenger_unamused:

Toro IV makes mince meat out of anything :messenger_sunglasses: . Add a Venator 4 with an extended mag 3 to the mix and its go time.

Just make sure to bring plenty of bullets.

It's not a PVP game because you choose to play it that way. Shoot a few folks for a couple of rounds and you'll find yourself in a different game completely.

ah, so if you engage in PVP it'll put you in lobbies that are with other players that focus on PVP?

Absolutely. It has Aggression based matchmaking.

Only takes a few games to swing one way or the other.

Oh hell no :messenger_tears_of_joy:

One gun taken in, a 10% chance you're even getting out with it! In the hundreds of hours played I've never shot first. But always, ALWAYS, done in the back!

The dirty bastards :messenger_unamused:

If I ever take two guns in there's a 100% chance I'll die within 30 seconds of spawning. Christ knows why.

I think the best maps are Space port and Blue gate. They don't get sweaty, offer more chance of helping others and have some excellent locations to loot.

Shoot first, ask questions later. Take a defib. It's the only way to be sure.

After you've had enough, just play passively and react in self defence only, don't go in with valuable gear as you stand to lose your items. Use the runs as a way to have a clear out. You'll be back in PvE lobbies after about five rounds.

I wouldn't be surprised if Embark make some devious tweaks to this soon, as the gaming of the system is flagrant at this point.

I had some bloke shoot me the other day on there, Said he was sorry as I sounded like a cool guy, I said 'Well that's shite, and I had a defib in my arse pocket too..'

He said, in a serious tone... 'Damn, you should have dropped it before I shot you' :messenger_tears_of_joy:

This fucking game.

This fucking game.
Walked in a right ding dong in Assembly yesterday. 3 way solo fight and they were all taking pot shots and shouting at each other to calm down. Honestly it was fucking hilarious listening to it. Then I got bored and cleaned up. One dude was absolutely furious. I then got third partied back.

Win some, lose some. Good times.

It doesn't even take multiple games to sway the matchmaking. You can literally run maps as friendly as fuck, next map you defend yourself against a bunch of cunts and all of a sudden you're in the thick of it. Had this happen to my squad tonight. Peaceful as fuck, get jumped by a bunch of dogs while doing a trial, kill them and extract. Next couple runs on blue gate it's world war 3 with grubs everywhere. I really don't think their matchmaking algorithm is all that complex to be honest. They aren't going to come out and explain it either because they know it's not and they don't want people to know how it works.

Never had a freindly encounter trio'd up. Although to be honest I've never tried to either.

We had a few, and it also helps that a buddy of mine won't stop spamming songs like "Jump Around" and "Dance Till You're Dead." 😄

This has already turned around several heated battles. Also a fun time.

I'm not a complete psycho (honest :messenger_winking:). Sometimes it's just as rewarding to revive a downed raider in trouble.

Some of the random interactions you get between players is just fantastic.

Honestly the game is just a fun time all round. Surely it must nab Gaf's GOTY award.
