Oblivion Remastered |OT| Kvatching up with an old hero

I finished all the guild questlines (thieves, fighters, mages, DB). Explored most of the countryside, have maybe 10% remaining. Level 30, probably 200 hours in.

There are a few Daedric shrine quests I haven't completed and don't intend to, because I just didn't like the assignment. For some reason, I didn't mind murdering for the DB, but some of the Daedra quests offended my moral sensibilities, such as they are. I'm not going to murder people who are kind and welcoming. The Hircine quest was good, though. I ended up wearing that hairy vest throughout the whole game. Good bonuses, although it looked goofy.

Apart from the DLC, then, I'm pretty much done. Guess it's time to do the main quest, look for Martin whathisname.

edit: Fuck it; I forgot how annoying, claustrophobic, gloomy, and repetitive the Oblivion gates are. I'm going to skip the main quest entirely.
I didn't mind the Oblivion Gates and even slightly enjoyed the puzzle aspects of some of them. Sometimes I wasn't in the mood though and just wanted to move on with the story. Once your character is high enough level, you can speed run them and run by all the enemies to the end and grab the sigil stone without killing any of the baddies. I completed some of the Oblivion gates in like 5-10 minutes.

I didn't get around to play some of the games that were up for major awards, but I absolutely loved this game. In agreement with you on it being a personal GOTY.

I didn't have the issues that some were running into. So, nothing for me to complain about. Was totally immersed in this one.

Same.

Won't say the Xbox version was rock solid 60 all the time but the VRR window really helped and of course you can reload a save to remedy the memory leak issue.

But the point being, the game is extremely engrossing regardless and I had a blast revisiting Cyrodiil all over again. The graphical overhaul is fantastic.

It's not a memory leak, it's more and more variables being put in a single save file that starts to cause crashes. I don't know if you can do it on console but the solution on PC is making a new save, not overwriting an old one.
Huh interesting, I've had no issues at all, maybe because I'm obnoxious on keeping old saves and make new saves then?
Not done with it yet though so might be a late game issue perhaps.

That's cool. Personally, I don't like the dark, gloomy atmosphere and the cramped, confusing layouts. The main thing I like about Elder Scrolls games is free exploration in a large, open, beautiful natural world. Those elements were completely missing in the Oblivion gates. I just didn't find that part of the game enjoyable, but to each his own of course.

I still have the DLC to do. I enjoyed them well enough back in 2009. Knights of the Nee Nine up first.

Finished Knights of the Nine. Pretty good. I liked how they mixed things up with the quest types and the group combat later. My men were stupid, though. They all charged into every battle. That's not my style at all. They got themselves killed, so that'll teach 'em.

The final battle was rather anticlimactic. After having my whole squad wiped out earlier, I expected a tougher finish. Plunked him with a few arrows and down he went.

Next up, Shivering Isles.

edit: I had forgotten how big Shivering Isles is. It's a genuine expansion -- a large landmass with plenty of areas and outposts to explore. Must be another 30 hours here at least.
