You started off so strong but lost me when you brought up GTA my friend. The last good one that I actually played to completion was Vice City. Not interested in immature shit no more. Gangsta foo!Its simple, if u are adult male, with job/family/responsibilities game being f2p doesnt mean shit, its actually a flaw coz it means devs wont value ur time- most precious thing person has to offer.
At least when u fork up 80$(100$?) on gta6 in 2027(delay will happen once again) u will feel like ur time is well spent/enjoying urself, unlike that f2p slop![]()

Hey vice city is pure fire to this very day, if u dont like gta put any other game u enjoyed. eldem ring, silent hil, resident evil or w/e xDYou started off so strong but lost me when you brought up GTA my friend. Can't speak for most free to play games but I know Path of Exile and THE FINALS haven't been designed to extract money. Sure stash tabs are bloody handy in PoE but apart from that none of the cosmetics are must have.I will never play a F2P game, because I know its systems has been designed on purpose to make me pay in order to progress aka playing it for free is a miserable experience.
Too many failures is great for the industry. It's a disturbing that people seem to be just pushing this game to fail. Not only that, take enjoyment out of it. Like real pleasure at watching people fail and lose jobs, close studios. I'm not even sure exactly what the fight on this one is, modern characters? audience? Geoff?
Not every game can be a Concord or Veilguard. Too many failed games is not good for the overall health of the industry. Because they don't fucking learn.
Have a heart guys, game development is hard. I mean it's free to play afterall. I'm really curious what they expected for their ROI.
Bad games failing is great for gaming industry, it steers if not activist devs then at least their bosses/publishers in the right direction- games need to be made for the gamers, aka customers - especially if its not some low budget indie game but AAA game with upwards of 100m usd budget made by veteran western dev studioIt's a disturbing that people seem to be just pushing this game to fail. I would give it more time if it wasn't for the fact that it has so many other issues such as the awful performance, upscaling woes and mouse accel. It's an instant put off for me, regardless of how fun or good the game otherwise might be.Same. The thing is, first impressions are not great, you need 3-4 matches to get the feel of the game. Not many people will give it that much time
Why should we care about their jobs? There is no shortage of jobs in the current economy. If you are unable to perform your job adequately, you deserve to be fired. It's a disturbing that people seem to be just pushing this game to fail. Not only that, take enjoyment out of it. Yeah but they are on console as well, the playerbase is higher than just Steam.5k ccu will be 100% death of the game, bro, its not 5 indie devs making 10m usd budget AA game, its veteran AAA dev studio, western based aka with crazy salaries compared to some eastern europe/china/india, they need some srs cashflow, and fast![]()
Sure, but the numbers are probably similar there too. Unless console players are built differently and chug that slop with gusto.Yeah but they are on console as well, the playerbase is higher than just Steam.
True, but there the situation is the same - you are also competing with established players that have hundreds or thousands of hours played and they will not give it up unless the experience is exceptional, which is not the case here. Also, I think this game is in no way targeted at a casual user, the mechanics are just too complicated.Yeah but they are on console as well, the playerbase is higher than just Steam.
There is a know multiplier that is commonly used to estimate the total users a game has across the board. The bottom line is:Yeah but they are on console as well, the playerbase is higher than just Steam.
Prove it.Steam's CCU marks a trend on all platforms.
You guys are cluelessMarathon

Off to a bad start. Right now at 10,700 Steam players. Exactly 24 hours earlier at the same time yesterday morning at 14:00 UTC it was at 16,500.
It actually is. This has always been one of the biggest, not often talked about strengths of GAAS. It produces elite games because good and mediocre struggle so often here.Too many failures is great for the industry.
Yup, they're all studying ARC Raiders right now.It forces devs to stop churning out live-service hero shooter trash nobody asked for, kills zombie studios wasting millions on DEI checklists over fun and teaches the lesson: make games gamers want, not what Geoff circlejerks to
Uh?Prove it.
if you think Marathon ll be a success i think the clueless one is not him, but time ll tell. You guys are clueless
Define success.if you think Marathon ll be a success i think the clueless one is not him, but time ll tell.
I would have agreed with you if they would have pushed Marathon out the door on their original release but that delay and improvements they made gives the game a chanceMarathon

Lol well its not gonna be a success story if thats your expectation. Anyone who played marathon know that its gonna be a pretty niche title with a smaller long time playerbase like hunt showdown. Think about 100k max at launch. Marathon is not gonna break into the mainstream, its a pretty risky AAA project
for the amount o money invested on it it should, but since i m no Bungie share holder i couldn't care less, we may witness the closure of Bungie or another huge wave of layoffs, like i said, only time ll tell.Lol well its not gonna be a success story if thats your expectation. That's not proof, is it? Steam CCU reflects performance within that ecosystem, that's it. It might correlate to the broader success of a game, but hardly a solid indicator when there are games that perform better on console as opposed to PC and vice versa. I'd agree with you if you actually had solid platform data to back it up.Uh?
Concord
The Vailgurad
Hellblade
Bledding Edge
Destiny 2
Overwatch 2
Let it die
(just on top of my head)
All these games steam CCU mark a trend of lower adoption (not popular), stagnation or decline. I mean, it's as clear as water.
And the oposite is true. A game with high CCU will have a higher population across the board... Is that simple![]()
Marathon ll be a success
but time ll tell
only time ll tell
That's why there are different multipliers depending on the type of game and other factors. (this is a about the peak number)That's not proof, is it? The game is still going to flop but it will be a slower decline.
I think they will have decent numbers during the free playtest but I don't see a lot of people paying $40 for that game.
I'm not arguing that Highguard is performing well on console, just arguing Steam CCU isn't a good predictor of console performance. I can't name live service games that have performed poorly on Steam but well on console, but it is often claimed that games like FIFA and COD outperform their PC counterparts. Not that those are good examples, considering they're still both successful on PC.Can you name a game that released same day on Steam and other platforms that found little to no success on Steam, but was thriving elsewhere? He named many games (all true) marking popularity issues, declines and flops. Can you name one counter?
That's massive one of a kind success.
marathon is going to do better than this crapYou guys are clueless
Exactly what i said lol.The reviews are killing me lmao.
