Would You Want To See AAA Shinobi Game?

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
After the new platformer released last year, I sure do. Give it a kind of Ninja Gaiden IV treatment or like the old Shinobi PS2 game.

I would play it most likely, but then again I have shit taste.

I loved the PS2 game, for all its flaws. Something in that vein, but without the actual PS2-era gameplay trappings (like the strict timer) and in more open environments (not open world, per se, just more wiggle room to play around in).

I think SEGA just needs to Remaster both Shinobi and NightShade (Kunoichi) for PS2 as a Collection and call it a day. Besides, not sure what developer has the skill to honor the series. Overworks were straight fire back then.

No, but only because I'd consider Shinobi PS2 to be a AA game, and I absolutely want more of that. With more budget comes more baggage. You can do a pretty Shinobi game that feels satisfying without a massive budget. I don't want the series going open-world or trying to embrace DMC-style battle arenas and all of that.

AAA maybe not, but a mid budget game like the original 3D one would be cool.

bring back the Tate mechanic, maybe also bring in the executions from the new game... combine both mechanics somehow maybe even...
have some cool wall running and platforming in there...

I'd certainly play it. I love Shinobi.
loved the original arcade game, loved the 16bit ones, loved the PS2 games, and the new one was brilliant.

If there is an unfeasible amount of ninjas and a giant wall of large statue faces I have to destroy with shurikens, yes.

You know it!

On topic though, if they made a Shinobi games like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, I'd be down. I usually bounce off character action games, but MGR was dope.
That's my former roommate's art. She's really good.

I honestly wouldn't mind another 2D Shinobi game either but would be nice to see how it translates to 3D nowadays. Doesn't even have to be AAA.

Curious, but what would that game do that Ninja Gaiden does not?

If we go by how Shinobi PS2 played vs Ninja Gaiden, they are completely different. Ninja Gaiden is highly combat focused and is about duking it out with smart enemies, utilizing different moves and weapons, and being relatively strategic. Shinobi is about speeding from point A to point B as swiftly as possible, tagging enemies with your sword in rapid succession to build up a chain (which you need to do since your character's sword will kill you if you dawdle), and maneuvering deftly to avoid attacks and land a strike. It's heavy on the platforming and involves frequent wall running, air dashing over bottomless pits, and avoiding environmental obstacles. It feels like an arcade game, and is about reacting rather than thinking.

It's a really cool game, as is its admittedly less polished sequel, Nightshade. Both it and Ninja Gaiden stand as totally distinct experiences.

I would love to see a Genesis game with physical release. Shinobi III was amazing, just imagine what they could do now with a huge RAM cart and the tricks they know now with modern development. I'd take a great 2D sprite release of any kind though.

It would be cool, but more realistically I'd ask for a AA Shinobi game, because I think it would more easily make its money back so we get more in future.

I just want more character action games in general, but if Ninja Gaiden can't pull the sales it needs to make real money, seems like AA budgets are just the way to go in general.

I'm tired of these "shinobi" genre games either being Soulslikes or action games where you hop around like a manic frog as a supermodel female ninja.

I'd like to see one more more down to earth like the Witcher where you have to craft various poisons/tools that are effective against your target, gather information to seek out your targets like in older Assassin's Creed games and you have to carefully and stealthy infiltrate your targets location with a bunch of different paths and ways to defeat your target similar to the Hitman WOA trilogy or Dishonored.
