I look forward to the hockey the most. I find the curling oddly relaxing to watch. I usually don't care too much for the opening ceremony but I'll watch it this year because Mariah Carey is performing.

I agree with you about curling. Snowboarding is cool and it reminds me of the 1990s.

She is competing with a torn ACL.

That's probably a very bad idea at this time.

Can I still walk with a torn ACL?

Can you walk with a torn ACL? The short answer is yes. After the pain and swelling subsides and if there is no other injury to your knee, you may be able to walk in straight lines, go up and down stairs and even potentially jog in a straight line.

Can I live a normal life with a torn ACL?

Without an ACL, the knee is unlikely to support aggressive landing, cutting and pivoting. Living with a torn ACL may mean limiting participation in sports, work and activities that cause the knee to swell, give way or feel unstable. Risk of other injuries. The ACL restrains the thigh and shinbone in the knee.

It is either going to be amazing for her if she medals, or it is good news for the competitors. I wonder if there is an alternate that could be on their way if she dropped out.

That's not heroic, that's STUPID. She might fuck up her knee FOR LIFE. But I guess she only has one more shot, so why not?

Or they are playing up the injury for the drama llama viewers, which is like 95% of Olympic coverage these days.

Snoop is back doing Olympic things.

I always thought Zamboni was some Italian company that specialized in producing these ice clearing machines. It turns out these things are named after Frank Zamboni, a US inventor who created (and patented) the first ice resurfacor in the 1940ies for his family's ice rink.

In 2018, Vonn said it was her last Olympics. In 2019, she said she retired from the sport. She didn't come back for Beijing 2022.

There's no way she's going to be able to realistically compete in with a ruptured ACL, bruised bone, and damaged meniscus. She's already a well respected, highly accomplished skier on every level.

Vonn staying in isn't heroic, it's either ego or greed. She should drop out and let someone else have their Olympic experience.

I love the Olympics so damn much. Through all of the crazy shit going on in the world, I completely forgot this was coming up!

Can't wait baby!

So apparently new competition is ski alpinism, I checked it yesterday and it's...kinda like trail running with skis? Didn't have that on my bingo card.

Curling is on now.

When folks say "white people have no culture" I kindly direct them to watch some curling and then come back to discuss....and then agree with them :P

That 'sport', while I'm sure is full of deep strategy, cunning tactics, intense physical conditioning, and strong ties to military operations, just doesn't do it for me.

I sure understand giving it a go though with it being her last Olympics even if it destroys her knee

Not near the same stage but I pitched one playoff series (that we lost anyhow) with a partially torn rotator cuff

The training staff would inject a shot (I think Toradol) into my shoulder an hour or so before the game and really felt no pain

I have been paying for it for the last 25+ years with a few surgeries on the shoulder and still have chronic pain but would do it again if given the chance :)

Yeah, I get the competitive spirit.

Then when I get out of bed now and hobble around, I regret all those "push past the pain!" moments from my youth.

Yeah my one knee on my drive leg is toast, needs replacing but putting that off and about every morning I have to warm up my shoulder for the day with some stretching or I can't even get my hand to my own face

Curling Highlights.

Looking for the USA women's Hockey Highlights they just beat the Czechs 5-1

According to the BBC, ski jumpers are injecting their dicks with acid in order to expand their junk. The reason being they have to get fitted for skin-tight suits using a body scanner, and if they have a fatter dong they can have bigger underwear, which helps them fly further due to aerodynamics.

Sounds like bullshit, right? (I mean, there's a drug that gives you a super swole sausage and it last 18 months??? Yeah, right / where?)

I am going to be out of pocket this weekend, some family stuff came up. But I hope you all provide regular updates.
