Hard to believe this ever came out, and it came out really good. Feel like Ive been hearing about this for 15 years. Day 1 for me.

Didn't expect anything less from the man. I wish there was a Switch version but I guess I'll charge the Steam Deck for that one.

Also I hope Mudeth makes another alt soundtrack but that's a big stretch.

Interesting, looks like a mix of Binding of Isaac humor and art but everything feline and adult and Into the Breach/FF Tactics combat with deep class system and a massive amount of enemies, bosses and paths. Add in roguelite and this becomes a long and classic game that players will keep playing for years to come.

Gameplay loop is basically:
  1. go to adventure (sewers, canals, neighborhood themed levels, etc) with a team of 4 cats (they have classes, skills, etc), random stats (negative and positive),
  2. engage in tactical, turn-based, Into the Breach style combat, lot's of synergies and elemental stuff (water douses fire, earthquake removes lakes/water etc)
  3. win a run (1-2 hours) or loose ( you still get some rewards, it's rogue-lite! in progression but rogue like* in acts/campaigns (I have to verify this yet))
  4. back in your small room and retire those cats,
  5. breed them to get kittens which might inherit classes, bonus and traits from parents, negative ones also
  6. go again, win
  7. get rewards, items and upgrade room, skills, progress story by sending/donating kittens to homes?
  8. fight a huge variety of enemies (rivals cats, mice, aliens, monsters, dinos, etc), fight bosses (each with unique mechanics), find cool strats, min-max and optimize
  9. repeat, populate your house, old cats die, kittens grow, all of the feline melodrama in signature Isaac humor
  10. till you win! (complete all the 3 acts) apparently it takes 120-150 hours but you see new shit, find new stuff to make runs feel fresh (still chance of bad RNG?, yep of course)
  11. $$$ profit?
* rogue-like: progress is zero after a run, might get some permanent rewards but you start from (N); rogue-lite: progress is not zero but a small increase, (N+1)

With billions of hours in Issac, this game is an instant purchase. PC only is a kick in the nuts, I'm hoping/assuming a console release is further down the road.

Very interested in this game. I need a new Steam Deck game to sink some hours into and this looks perfect.

Looks like another banger synergy-simulator. Can't imagine it will top my Binding of Isaac playtime, but looking foreward to some tactical goodness packed up in McMillen weirdness.

With AI memory apocalypse destroying my hopes of a 5/6 hundo Steambox I'll probably end up with a Deck.
Disappointed cause I want something with a little more juice than 4 year old tech.
yeah I feel you. I managed to get a solid build in with a 5080 before prices went nuts...

however, I use my deck more than anything else including my PS5. It's such a good system and ideal for these lo-fi indie games with simple graphics.

I do not like the grid based combat. Srpg
Art style is MEH.

But roguelike element is so good
And guy from binding of isaac is good.

Shame imma pass

Damn man, Edmund doesn't miss. All of his games are fun, he doesn't overhype ANY of them either. Grats to him and Tyler. I'll be picking it up tomorrow!

what time does this shit unlock god damn? sat here waiting like a crackhead sniffing the buy button

Edit.. oh shit. I didnt refresh the steam app.

INSTALLING NOW BOYS!

god damn this is gold lmao... funny shit man. The creator has a great sense of humour

having a blast less than an hour in! also. holy depth batman. This is going to take a lot of people by surprise in terms of difficulty / skill ceiling. Very good stuff.

Been waiting for this game for almost like 15 years. I watched Edmund's demo videos over the past few months, and this looks just sooooo good.

I just wish it was on Switch or something. But I'll still grab it as soon as I get home from this work retreat.

man the temptation to call in sick to work tonight and just play this for the next 3 days is STRONG.

People like me that adore Xcom, Battle Brothers, Into the Breach etc .. you will absolutely love this shit. It's deep, tactical, polished.

Runs and looks great on Deck, but the controls are so clunky. Touch controls are shitty too, you start instantly using/purchading items, when you only wanted to check their details.
