Fairgame$, dumb Horizon GAAS game, and even Marathon are the next big mistakes to come. Marathon might do OK at first but don't think it has long legs. Should have put all those resources into Destiny 3.

Was just re-playing first kcd on pc after ppl just got free next gen upgrade on their consoles, for some fun and nostalgia feel, last 2 days, i check on main gaf section just before sleep to check if some pre-weekend "live" treads got posted, and instead i see hermen tortured my precious bluepoint to death

Did they even make anything while Sony owned them. I'm pretty sure they didn't, so essentially Sony bought them just to shut them down at this point. This makes me angry.

To be fair, plenty of journalists were just as clueless as Hulst and co. when the GaaSification of PlayStation was presented as a great future for first-party studios.
In reality, they never knew and still don't know what the fuck they're talking about when it comes to labor cost(s) relative to labor location, opportunity cost, risk management, product differentiation, product localization, internet limitations outside of the big three (US/UK/JP) markets, etc. These same journalists will be on their weekly podcast discussing yet another GaaS-driven studio closure and in the same breath, claim single-player games are risky. They genuinely can't recognize the absurd nature of what they're saying.
Expect more studio shutdowns and development stops. Sony cannot afford to lose billions in GaaS-related investments (e.g., Concord, Factions, possibly FairGame$, GoW live-service, possibly Marathon) and do nothing.

Why would they change the posting schedules? The most expensive developer Sony has purchased, is in a one month media blitz within two weeks before releasing their first full new game since said purchase. You're expecting them to change the timing of that because they cancelled another team who wasn't projecting to earn their profits? I can assure you most people that own PS4/PS5s don't know what work Bluepoint has done in the past outside of people like us in these forums etc. I'm not happy with this news, but it shows where the current state of Sony actually is right now..$$$

What an utter shit show over at Sony. Hulst is worse than Ryan and is near Phil Spencer levels of shite. Bluepoint was one of the better studios and they suffer this sad fate. Meanwhile GG continues to milk Horizon and shows off the ridiculous looking Horizon Hunters and yet they are just fine. Naughty Dog hasn't done a thing in years and it's new work in progress with that bald girl boss is ok with them as well. Sony is a shell of what they used to be since moving to California. A return to Japan along with sacking Hulst and all the weirdos at various studios who have poisoned the brand would be a good start.

Yeah. They may aswell have just hired them as and when they needed remasters/remakes. Kind of pointless even buying them in the first place. They probably could have gotten by doing remasters of all sorts kind of like night dive, and they would have been ok.
I guess we can forget about remakes of destruction derby and g police now . I was quietly hoping that would happen even though I don't own a PlayStation. If only for nostalgia sakes, I think games need to be preserved. That's why I been buying so many hamster and M2 arcade ports lately. Old games never really stop being fun.
The industry needs to do better at preserving games even if they are a bit obscure.
I boutght the Atari 50th anniversary, karateka and llamasoft bundles all on my Xbox recently. Really just as a sort of digital meuseum type of situations. Oddities of the past worth the odd visit.
Studios like blue point could have survived on their own focusing on remasters and classic collections and whatnot. It was pointless for Sony to buy them. Only to shutter them after only a handful of remasters. Sony have awhile back cataloguer going back to the 90s that is worth revisiting on a nostalgia tip. What a waste.

Nah. I'm saying that as an Xbox guy. Atleast you still have exclusives and Sony still believes in the idea of a console. It's pretty hard being an Xbox gamer these days… unclear future for the platform and all.
Trust me, be glad for the devil you know. Sony I feel, still Atleast has some grasp on what makes their fans tick. Spencer is sort of just…….
