Did you read any of the OP? Phil brought up retiring to Satya last year. Companies and CEOs don't always announce changes ahead of time. A quick announcement to departure does NOT mean a forced departure.

Phil retiring was always going to be a thing, he was radio silent for a while. I did not expect Bond to be gone and their devision replaced by an actual BOT.

Yeah, Phil has started to look like he needs to retire in the last year or two but Bond's departure is just like a wtf news. We all assumed she was being prepared as Phil's natural successor.

Not helped that they're replacing with an AI executive. Even Booty being the head of Xbox would have made more sense. At least he's got a more tenured gaming background.

It's so fucking obvious, too. I thought it was hilarious when one of the people I work with, who used to be a higher-up at Xbox was telling me how hardcore they'd gotten about diversity hires and that they literally wouldn't promote white men to leadership positions at some point (within Xbox itself, no idea about MSFT more generally). And because of that, Sarah Bond being around made so much sense.

But this? This is just... wow. No experience in games, very little experience overall, super brief tenure at Microsoft - this is absolutely what's happening.

Anywho, had a great time with my One X and Phantasy Star Online 2 that got brought over to the west due to Phil, so thank you for that! Early days of gamepass was great, same with BC on Series X and One X.

Sold my Xbox last year and got a gaming pc.
