Phil Spencer is Retiring and Sara Bond is Out bot there's something really worst than that

Don't worry boyos. Our savior is still here:

This woman has the weirdest resume, it just reads like she came from money and she just got c-suite jobs for no discernable reasons 🤔
Sarah bond got done dirty.
Yeah but what was Sarah Bond giving anyway? She was firmly on the team of "no exclusives -they make no sense"....not as if the brand was on upward trajectory with her at the helm

This can only be bad for future hardware. I got the impression that Magnus was the consolation prize to both keep the diehard fans happy and to let the old guard at Xbox pretend that everything was still just fine. They may have been cucked by Nutella and the Microsoft bean counters, but at least there was still a veneer of delusional feelgood that they were technically still in the console business as Xbox.

Now there's new leadership with seemingly no connection to gaming, who likely couldn't give a single fuck about either of those things. Xbox's metamorphosis into a full blown multi-platform software provider, wearing Activision Blizzard's financials as a skinsuit to keep it looking good to shareholders, will be complete in a few years time.

AI woman is effectively being demoted, MS's internal AI is the laughing stock of the industry and is overwhelmingly considered to be in dead last place among every other company doing AI.
She wasn't actually in charge of Copilot from what I could tell, but their Azure suite of AI services.

Her portfolio includes Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI Service, Azure Machine Learning, Responsible AI, AI Search, customizable APIs and Azure AI Service

The irony is she's basically admitting that the rest of MSFT, pouring billions of dollars into AI, is simply churning out souless slop. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Nah, she's saying that there are obviously forms and uses of AI that are low quality, i.e. slop.

You guys do realise that the term AI slop and the idea of that being a problem is ubiquitously believed and used within the actual industry itself, right?

I follow tonnes of AI researchers, engineers, commentators, company staff on Twitter and…the proliferation of that is almost universally recognised as a bad thing. There's no contradiction between believing in the power, applications and positive outcomes of the technology and in disliking a glut of low quality and unappealing AI outputs in various media being everywhere.

She's saying that she understands that people are worried about thoughtless use of low quality AI outputs in game production.

You were also wrong about the January layoffs you predicted.

I don't recall him ever saying exactly that it would be January. Rather, he gave a rough estimate during the Summer of "3 to 6 months". Even if his timeline ends up being off, he has been spot on with WHAT will happen even if WHEN it happens isn't exact. Does it really matter if it didn't happen in January but ends up happening in March? Being off by a couple months on a half-year prediction wouldn't be anything to be ashamed of.

It's easy to shit on Phil given the current state of Xbox, but I won't forget the state it was in when he took over. One X and Series X were wonderful systems, embracing backwards compatibility instead of "we believe in generations" bullshit (and not even remotely following through with that) is what made me stay in their ecosystem for a long time. Not sure what the future holds, I'm out either way. But I'm convinced Phil tried as best as he could.

Now if only we could see kanker Hulst getting sacked…

Phil retiring is like finally double agent durning cold war having possibility to come back from USSR where he worked his ass off decieving every1 and pretending to be a "good guy" lat 10 years back to the states/hawaii to live rest of his days quiet simple live.

DEI sarah got kicked/forced to retire and she didnt even know about that 4h before official statement, which makes sense, u dont inform a plant u gonna move it out of ur appartament.

Now instead we got combo of DEI woman(this time some indian one) with literal 0 gaming experience who probably got ungodly hawk-tua skills to reach such a well paid and important position while having less experience than entry lvl gaming tester who makes 30-40k usd yearly salary or just as likely- since she is indian she might be some bastard daughter of mister nuttella hence got the position as a form of "working in family business" :)

Either way future of xbox not only as a console but even gaming brand/publisher is definitely dark af, i think phil actually tried to fuck things up coz he had plenty of experience, knowledge and drive, that indian woman will make sure xbox is in deepest hole possible no matter of her intentions, its like suddenly u would put one of GAFers as a lead fashion designer of paris fashion week, we simply wouldnt know what the hell we doing there xD

Genuine prediction- xbox magnus gonna be xbox pc like rog ally was pretending to be xbox handheld, aka normal prebuild/branded oem pc just with a sticker/xbox icons, nothing more.

Ass of can whooping gonna have field day with this one ^^

Looks like a house cleaning to me.

Phil and Sarah are out, and a parachute candidate got demoted to handle a shit show and since she doesn't know jack shit, Matt Booty gets a promotion.

Between Sony's growing incompetence and Xbox's looming complete brand death, it'd actually be worth being concerned for the future of the console industry for a change.

Valve, save us please. Please!

Calm down man. Didn't you just say this one week ago.

That was pretty good. My faith in SIE is starting to restore steadily; out of the announcements here were my top picks:

-KENA 2 (looks really good, glad to see Ember Lab back to making games again)

-Dead or Alive 7 (FINALLY!!)

-Control Resonant (neat stylistic stuff)

-Beast of Reincarnation (Game Freaks can cook when the hardware's capable 😉)

-Yakoh: Shinobi Ops (isometric Tenchu could be cool)

-Project Windless (aka Alien Soldier 2: Black Myth Chicken)

-Castlevania: Belmont's Curse (good art style, very fluid animation)

-Silent Hill: Townfall (might be a bit TOO closely similar to Silent Hill 2 visually but could have some neat Candyman x Jacob's Ladder stuff too)

-Rev.NOIR (could be a pretty neat Japanese RPG)

-Saros (slick looking gameplay)

-Marvel Tokon (looking great as usual)

...and the GOW Trilogy Remake (awesome to see T.C Carson back) is going to be very interesting. See SIE, those are the kind of games that justify a remake (despite the originals still being well to play today), not stuff like TLOU or Horizon Zero Dawn. The GOW Metroidvania game could be fun, but the art style (more specifically, the animations) were a bit iffy looking for me. But it works well as a shadow drop, absolutely.

Definitely one of the better State of Play events over the past two years.
