Yeah it's a crazy sentiment, there are so many good games out there. So many.

What's going on lol first bluepoint and now our beloved Phil.

Done a terrible job at Xbox lol but then memes were worth it. Sad we'll have no one to hate on now when anymore dreadful Xbox related news releases.

Looks like a house cleaning to me.

Phil and Sarah are out, and a parachute candidate got demoted to handle a shit show and since she doesn't know jack shit, Matt Booty gets a promotion.
She wasn't actually in charge of all of their AI efforts. It's really doubtful this is a demotion.

If the new management doesnt announce they are going back to console exclusives they might as well just sell off now. Theres no saving it minus exclusives. And even then theres not going to be much growth in this industry going forward.

Has she ever played a video game in her life?

Why do you ask? How do you know what she's into based on her CV? I love games, have played them since I was 8 and I've not held any positions that had anything to do with games.

Sure, we can see her working experience doesn't involve games. But why would you assume she has no interest in games and how could you possibly deduce that from looking at her CV?

Getting put in charge of a dead business unit is more or less a demotion
It's really not a dead business unit. Being made an EVP / CEO of a division that brings in $25 billion a year is not a demotion from being "head of product" for basically just MS's Azure AI tools.

She now reports directly to Satya, like her old boss did.

Billionaire Bobby Kotick oversaw 1/3rd of the same amount of rvenue.

Expected.

The new CEO sounds like she has zero background in gaming. She deserves the benefit of the doubt, but I genuinely believe that Xbox just went from fucked to super fucked.
My guess is they just want to toss it over board but are adding weights to it first. The Eye of Sauron got really pissed off at the waay over priced activision purchase.

Chances of almost anybody here caring about the actual specifics and details is almost zero.

You can see from this thread that the second most participants saw her, her previous job or just read her name they had already decided what's what.

I don't recall him ever saying exactly that it would be January. Rather, he gave a rough estimate during the Summer of "3 to 6 months". Even if his timeline ends up being off, he has been spot on with WHAT will happen even if WHEN it happens isn't exact. Does it really matter if it didn't happen in January but ends up happening in March? Being off by a couple months on a half-year prediction wouldn't be anything to be ashamed of.
I'm sorry but I looked through some posts and the guy just comes off like a console warrior, with an axe to grind. Look at this one:
https://www.neogaf.com/threads/micr...ssics-and-more.1688694/page-30#post-270868153

The stuff that he's "gotten right" is super vague. From what I read, the big one was how they were going full third party. At the time they were already releasing games on PS. He extrapolated that and said all of their games would be going to PS eventually which was a pretty common sentiment at the time on Twitter and Reddit, a la "oh yeah I'm sure it's only those 4 games, the floodgates will open eventually"… like that was a very common sentiment, to lay doubt that it was only going to be those few games.

If that's the gist of it, I just don't believe the guy has any inside info on MS based on what I've read. And we're talking about high level exec stuff here that he's claiming.

If there's more meat on the bone than that third party thing, I'd love some links or whatever you have. Happy to be proven wrong.

That is never happening.
Agreed so they might as well sell these off. Selling games isn't very profitable, owning the platform they're sold on is. See Apple, Google, Roblox, Sony. Even most of Playstation growth is sub and dlc price increases. So either Xbox grows its Xbox owner base or they go away. Exclusives are the only reason to buy a console.

Not happening Satya doesnt give a fuck about Xbox and Phil was really the saving grace of it believe it or not. Microsoft seems more
focused on A.I and Cloud. I think eventually they will get rid of or sell the division off. This chick is just a place holder for the inevitable.

They are done selling consoles, everyone knows that except Corden
