Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

I'm having trouble getting good performance on 4k/high rt/dlss quality/everything else maxed on a 4080 Super 7800x3D. I'm getting an extremely choppy 70-80fps during the opening segment. Any higher end users have a link to a graphics setting guide that is giving you smooth and stable 60fps on 4k/maxed?
Cap FPS or use VRR if you can?

Well this is weird. I downloaded the over 60gb yesterday on Xbox. Figured it was good to go for tonight. Turned on Xbox an hour ago and it started downloading it again as if it didn't yesterday. Shit.
This doesn't really affect me but isn't a little ridiculous that there's no character in the mirror on current gen.

When something is patching on GFN does this usually take hours to finish?

Nevermind. It's up. 👌

I had pre-ordered (physically) through Amazon only to notice randomly one day that they quietly changed the shipping date after-the-fact to March 22nd. I googled and saw on reddit and the other place that this had happened to many other people too. However this morning, Amazon finalized my card charge. Huh, I re-checked and it still said March 22. Later today I got a confirmation message that it was shipping and arriving tomorrow (Friday) after all.

Hopefully others in that situation will find RE9 on their doorstep tomorrow too.

NOTE: Specifically, for me, I'd pre-ordered the Switch 2 Generation pack that also comes with RE7 and RE8. Since I never really played those, the bundle tempted me back in.

NOTE 2: I know they're just key cards, which makes physical basically useless. I guess I like to have a real item when possible while purchasing, don't judge me!

This is the best looking ps5 pro game in the first hour I've played. Absolutely gorgeous!

Fantastic start. First hour is done very well.

About an hour into the game and just reached the 'demo' section shown in previews. Looks incredible and feels good to play.

Also checked the CCU and it's already well ahead of any Resident Evil game and 5th of any Capcom title.

Idk if this is a great RE yet but it sure is one of the prettiest console games I've ever seen.

Ehh. Graphics are ok. Nothing groundbreaking. Feels a little PS4/Xbone gen.

Kind of annoyed by the Grace sections. Hoping things get going soon. Pacing feels really uneven out of the gate, snails pace with Grace, Uncharted action with Leon.

Made the mistake of playing through Dead Space remake just before this.

Almost 300K concurrent on Steam alone and it's not even the weekend.

Plus all the console versions are mostly sold out on all major retailers.

Goddamn, Capcom are gonna make $$$$$.

Are Grace moments like RPD where you have to plan your route and think strategically? I am sure Leon is mostly press forward action focus, but was wondering if Grace has a bit of RE2R vibes?

I didn't see any on XSX but I do on PC. And yes, it is odd that it isn't on base consoles since even old games like Max Payne had them.

Performance has been flawless, action is so damn good. Grace is a fantastic character, everything is beautiful, only complaint is not being able to adjust FOV. I was going to go first-persoj with Grace (as recommended) but the camera just doesn't feel right, 3rd person all the way.

Edit: and grizzled Leon ftw, we've been doing this a long time old friend 😆

hows the dualshock use with the triggers rumble and speakers? Any cool uses? And the switch joycon gyro aiming? Would love to hear impressions.
RE Requiem's haptic implementation is a massive disappointment.
I'd love to know what kind of money is required to take full advantage of the haptics and how much money Capcom saved by doing a subpar implementation.
The DS speakers are a bad design joke that's really there to let online poors play Fortnite without having to buy any special equipment.

So many things to praise like just Christ.

Seems like basically all they showed in trailers was the first hour of the game… wtf!?

The ability to subdue player expectations in the first hour to think you're safe by genre tropes then turn it on its head… brilliant! Made me shit bricks and not from a jump scare but by true atmosphere and intensity.

I'm excited to play more tomorrow and see how this will now expand for puzzles, upgrades, and pacing. The first two hours are mainly on rails but it's done brilliantly.

Yup, this is by far the most successful RE release for them. I hope that won't mean they will dumb it down later on.

Holy shit this game. Absolutely incredible looking on gfn on pc. I just got to that emotional incident with her mom. 😭. This is next gen RE we been wanting. It's beautiful. The atmosphere is blowing my mind. 😮‍💨

A couole of things early on: in the nurses room where you pick up the screwdriver, you can avoid the metal pan falling off the rolling table if you move rhe stick gently to the side and not full tilt to the right I found out the hard way lol.

Second, I wiped without a save because I was greedy with ink ribbons in that first section with Grace and the autosave takes you all the way back to the start of the chapter. Next time I got it right and forgot to save at the typewriter, and ended Graces first part with 2 ink ribbons. There is another ribbon right at the start of her next chapter too and Im just taking it real slow and prepared to do sections over and learn them rather than saving.

Standard classic, I guess its kind of a hard mode because it keeps you on your toes. Difficulty lies in managing ink ribbons and limited autosaves, and learning how to use the tools and mechanics well.

Man the Grace sections draaaaag! 😭 Shes a fantastic character and the voice actress did a phenomenal job but jesus christ its ruined the pacing.

Her sections consist of collecting 20 items just to make progress.

Also leon swing animations look retarded and rigid. Its odd.

Graphics and atmosphere however are truly phenomenal.

I've just started the game on my 5090 pc.

Oh my goodness!

This is absolutely incredible!

The level of graphics detail and quality is crazy, I'm playing with everything on absolutely maximum like path tracing but I've turned off frame generation and set to performance so 1080p to 4k.

Im getting 90 plus fps constantly so it's the best for me as I see a smear every now and then with frame generation.

The dolby atmos audio is maybe the best I've heard, the atmosphere on my 9.4.6 setup is so good!

The very beginning where there's two workers above tracked through my 6 height speakers so well and the train going over the tracks above... Chefs kiss!

I can't remember the last time I was this impressed with a video game.

Soo good!

Holy fk. That cop
turning was insane. That whole sequence was just incredible. We've never seen anything like this before in re. From a sting to turning almost instantly. Was it some infected bug? Your turning just from a big bite?

Wanted to play in first person as Grace and third as Leon but no fov slider makes it third for both, it's just too narrow. If I recall correctly, previous RE games had fov slider. Either way there's no excuse not to have fov slider in 2026.

Just tried it out on my 5800x3D+9070 XT. I read the driver release and it mentioned that it doesn't correctly show FSR4+ML FG indicator and that seems to be the case, but the game has FSR 4.0.3 by default and it definitely works. Using Max settings + RT + 1440p FSR4 'Perf' the opening sidewalk sequence is ~120fps. Looks great. On Steam Deck it actually plays pretty decent. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get FSR4(optiscaler)+LSFG to work out of the box like Pragmata. I'd assume that will be the best way to play on Deck if they can get it working. Installing on my 5500+5060 Ti 16GB setup right now to test it out of curiosity.

Capcom is allergic to add fov sliders which is ridiculous

The only way is to use reframework on pc and add it yourself

Yep. I had to concede and switch to third after a couple of hours because my daughter was getting motion sickness. Will try again for another playthrough once modders fix it.

Someone deport this man.

I'm on Standard/Classic as well because it gave me the impression - just from the slight difference in wording between it and Standard/Modern- that it might actually be more than just needing ink ribbons; like, the enemy's are tougher or what have you. I can't find any data to support this theory though.

Guess I got the short end of the stick.

Managed to buy a copy 2 days before the game dropping, but I won't be getting the game today.

Sad Cat GIF

Couple thoughts after a few hours:

- I wish they didn't spoil the encounter with the creature at the beginning (first footage they showed). Would've been absolutely insane to go into that blind. Guess I can only blame myself for that.

- The care center is old school RE in the best way. Very reminiscent of the RPD especially. The game really opens up here after a very linear opening.

- Grace has quickly made a really strong impression and is a super likable character. I can see her becoming a fan favorite for sure.

- Leon is hilarious and is so done with everyone's shit

Absolutely love this so far. Capcom cooked so hard.

A good "chunk" into Grace's section and my initial (and likely useless) two cents are:

I really enjoy the back and forth with Her and Leon encapsulating both ends of the RE spectrum.

I will say…it kind of hit me that RE8 I think may be the most BALANCED in terms of blending the two distinct halves of this series…

This is obviously just my opinion, and final verdict is obviously still very out because I have not finish Requiem yet- but it'll be interesting to see if separating them as they've done here is ultimately a better experience than the 50/50 blend that Village did.

Just finished past the area from the demo that the press played. They sure made Gideon a giant. And he's totally giving me joker vibes. Loving his character so far.

I'm in the care center as Grace right now and it's total RPD vibes. Locked doors, chests, safes, puzzles, keys, etc. All that good stuff.

After almost 5 hours I'll just say if the quality holds up from beginning to end then this will finish as a top 3 RE and I've been a fan since the very beginning, let's see what happens, game is so fucking good 💯

I knew I wouldn't like the Grace sections. I hope it gets better.

I'm assuming you're still at the very beginning? Once you get a bit further her "sections" are exactly like past REs, with multiple weapons, puzzles, exploration etc. Ammo conservation still important though, pick your battles. I wouldn't be surprised if further in she will have pure stealth focused chapters but Village had similar sections.

Reading all those first impressions is hitting my FOMO hard!!! I still have Avowed to finish and only entered the second map + I also bought the God of War Metroidvania when it dropped. Not sure I can wait for this much longer :D

I'm one hour in so far. I think I might like it better when she get some weapons and actually start fighting back. She's totally useless right now, I guess it makes sense considering it's still early game.
