Ubisoft has announced that a 60 FPS patch is coming to Assassin's Creed Unity, its French Revolution-set game released in 2014, tomorrow, March 5, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox consoles. This news comes as part of a wider franchise update from Ubisoft today that detailed in-development Assassin's Creed projects like Codename Hexe, Codename Invictus, and more, including a tease for the long-rumored Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag remake.

In the update, the new Assassin's Creed series Head of Content Jean Guesdon writes, "We know some of you have been waiting for it for a long time, so get ready to re-experience 18th Century Paris and Arno's fancy parkour moves with more smoothness on consoles," under the 60 FPS headline.

I wish they would do this with black flag but I know they are putting together a (probably shitty) remake
Yes to this, I picked up the PC port on sale and it did not play nice with my PC configuration, stutter and hickup galore. Until then, I do recommend Assassins Creed Rouge. Similar gameplay systems but runs on 60fps (at least on my SX). Huge map as well.

Bout time. It was the last AC that actually impressed me with its crowds and interior lighting. Arno is a cool character as well.

Also, the connection to Rogue was super cool. Wish they did that more often.

Is Unity actually a good game? I know it got blasted for performance and bugs back in the day.

I finally got a chance to play it a few years after release after it was all patched up and tweaked and I loved it. I think it's one of the better old school ones before it went off the deep end with Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla and Shadows.

Fantastic now that it's patched. It was in an AWFUL state at release. A lot of the story missions are really fucking great, the assassinations are really good. The Paris map is excellent, and the co-op mode is really fun as well.

Only thing I don't like is it's easily the MOST bloated entry in the series when it comes to map clutter. Like to an insane degree. But the actual meat and potatoes of the game is fantastic.

syndicate is much better.

To you maybe. To me Syndicate might as well be a completely different game. It's so completely over the top in comparison (I'm pretty sure it was directed by one of the guys behind Saints Row 3 so go figure lol)

Loved Syndicate

It was great and really ambitious, already pushing previous gen tech to its limits in 2014, at least CPU wise.
It just needed an extra month or two of polish when it was released but back then it was really hard for a publisher to consider skipping a holiday season and the game was punished more than it deserved.

Included in Ubisoft+ Classics. So included with PS+ Extra/Premium. As well as Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, I believe. Xbox.com blocked at work so someone correct me if that's wrong

lol....pretty sure PC Game Pass includes Ubisoft+ Classics, but Copilot is telling me that's wrong.

I enjoyed them both but Syndicate came out probably at Assassins Creed low point as it was after Unity which as we know was a buggy mess on release, also people where fatigued by that gameplay formular. These games are good but best played after a few years of not playing any Assassins Creed game.

I really like that Ubisoft does this. And thats something positive to say about Ubisoft!
Yeah, it may be the only positive thing I have to say about them right now but I do think it's really cool that we've gotten all these 60fps patches to stuff like The Division, and the Far Cry/AC games.

Unity has the best platforming/climbing-feel out of all of the older ACs.

It is the opposite of stiff, very fluid in motion, and has animations that account for awkward angles and odd grabs to a pleasantly surprising degree.

I haven't played Origins and beyond so I can't vouch for those.

Not even joking but legitimately why?
Ubisofts Legacy team are actually the best out there, over the past few years they've gone through previous Far Cry, AC, Watch_Dogs titles and updated support to either enhance resolution, frame rate, or in the case of Steam on PC, add things like achievements and cloud saves.

It's one of the few positive things about them and they put companies like Activision, Rockstar, etc, to shame.

it... it already is 60fps on Xbox... Will this patch change other things as well or?... because otherwise this seems pretty redundant on Xbox

Its a game that was hated at first and now it has somehow become loved.

Its still not a great game and was one of the first games I played where I felt that Ubisoft really wanted to steer players toward pay to win as many of things required ridiculous grinding.

Still it's a decent game and does a lot of cool things that Origins and later abandoned (such as creative killings)

Honestly, I felt Syndicate was a much better game.

The bespoke climbing animations ( like mounting/dismounting the fast ropes, ledge transitions, etc) were godlike when they released and are still better than most of their subsequent efforts imo. Other parts of the game were "troubled" to say the least but the character animations were fantastic.

I too am in the crowd of "I liked Syndicate better" but you got to play as twins...that's always awesome.

It was always good, but it became fun for players and the press to shit on it because it didn't 100% match what Ubi promised before release. It is still one of my most played AC games. Loved the characters, loved the setting, loved the story.

Really weird for them to go back and give it a 60 fps patch now.

This game was so insanely hated my goodness. Still remember the memes.
Played like complete dogshit(glitches etc) but i loved the location/theme and parkour.

Maybe i will come back around to it one of these days.

Amazing, cant wait to do another 100% run of this, the map was def cluttered with too many chests and repetitive side content but I found it so cozy and at least doing all the side padding stuff gave you XP for upgrades, clothes and hideout improvements.

I remember being blown away by the graphics (on PC with a GTX 970 it struggled to run at average 30fps at 1080p on max settings, minus ultra quality soft shadows and MSAA) and putting up with severe fps fluctuations just cause it was so beautiful and smooth to play.

Even the bullshit of having to repeat the coop missions (which you could do in SP on your own) min 3 times to get all armor pieces/rewards wasnt bad because they were very scripted, like a Hitman level with mostly global timers on enemies and events, so replaying it speedrun style was fun in its own right.

The XP gated upgrades that made a good difference to gameplay and eventually made you super OP, I just loved the gameplay loop and how everything all contributed to everything else's progress. I always felt like I was working towards a new thing.

I'm a sucker for an expandable base you can walk around, puzzles and riddles both were great and thoughtful, the investigations were very scripted and procedural but a short enough they werent laborious and each one was very different iirc.

Animation work the best the series has ever had, only Shadows sort of got back to that quality but not really as good overall and cutscenes still have trash facial animation in the last 4 AC games vs Unity. Unity has side quests with same or better quality facial animations than main story cutscenes in recent ACs.

Combat is stilted and easy but looks amazing and I love it, the hidden blade anims are also top tier. Crowd simulation better than any other game since, modern Hitman games sort of matched it but then the guillotine scene crowd and a couple of others blow every other game away with literally 1000s on screen at once, its amazing.

Can't wait, I really hope res is increased too, or at least push LoDs out more, just having locked 60fps at 900p will still be the same as the best I've ever seen it though anyway. I replayed it on my GTX 1080 but you cant even get to 1440p and have locked 60fps, some res between 1440p and 1080p will lock to 60 but using 1080p and 2x MSAA looked better overall.

The performance issues were mostly just because it looked so good, you needed a very recent mid-high tier GPU of the time to run it at 60fps, but since the GTX 970 cost ~£300 in the UK and perf gains were insane over the 700 series, a 980 Ti could maybe do 1440p60 if you optimised fhe settings rather than just set it to Ultra.

The graphical glitches with the "floating eyeballs" were almost exclusively happening on shitty integrated GPUs below min spec, and even then I think a day-1 or very early patch fixed that.

That was all blown out of proportion, the real issue were gameplay glitches, it was like all those AC glitch videos you see of every game though tbh. I'd say Black Flag had way more glitches that actually affected gameplay than Unity.
