Weird that it absolutely saved the franchise after the Unity shitshow.. and now it's doing it again after Shadows.

Yea...I don't think anything that went on with Unity was going to kill AC and I don't see this 60fps patch magically doing more numbers then AC Shadows or something dumb like that

Sounds a bit too dramatic lol

I don't know if anyone takes this shit that seriously man lol I mean, shit ,even using your weird logic, if a fucking 60fps patch from a 9 year old game is enough to save a whole franchise, was it ever even in danger? -_-

Awesome. I have the game but never played it! Now, do Unity

Thats the one I'm waiting for, I'd rather have a full on remaster, but a 60fps 4K patch would be just as great.

I think this was the last AssCreed before the One X dropped. I bought a brand new 4K tv that year and I couldn’t play this because the image quality was so fucking bad. Very excited to see how it looks tomorrow.

Going by the order of previous patches, Unity is next.

it already got a 60fps boost on Series X and S. on PS5 the game seems to have some weird limitations that keep it from hitting 60fps. you can play the unpatched unlocked version but it will struggle getting even near 40fps.

it seems like Sony had to limit the CPU or GPU boost it gives the game due to compatibility reasons.
this, plus the fact that it is even older than Syndicate, could mean that patching it wouldn't be as straightforward as Syndicate is.

Unity on Series X runs a perfect 60 during gameplay, but it drops frames during cinematics. There's also a massive graphical glitch with all the NPC's on the street constantly changing appearance. No way to circumvent it, except by not running at 60.

That game needs a new patch, even for Xbox.

pretty sure the NPCs changing appearance is just how the game is. I had this happen on Xbox One back in the day, and I remember many old YouTube videos that made fun of these switching NPCs.
the game's crowd system simply lacks coherence at times.

so the game generally would need a lot of patches to even be a decently functional game. but that's not what I'm talking about.
even before the official FPS boost it got, you could play the 1.0 version on both systems, and it would hit 60fps easier on Series X, while struggling to go above 40 on PS5. this is probably due to Sony adjusting the amount of additional hardware power it allows the game to use, which in itself is probably done for compatibility reasons.

I assumed it was a glitch because I couldn't imagine a scenario in which they could release the game in that state. But, apparently it did? That's just crazy to me. It's totally broken.

This game might be old, but it was one of the most ambitious AC games in terms of scope and just sheer density. I have always wanted a current gen upgrade after origins and odyssey got it. Looks like an excuse to check it out again, hah.

yeah, I think some patches made it worse and better and then worse again over time. the game ran on some of the worst CPUs ever designed, and wanted to do ridiculously large crowds, so something had to give.

here, look at the women that comes into view on the left as he walks down that alley (timestamped) from this 9 year old video:

she changes appearance 6 times, 3 of these quickly back and forth as he walks right by her, and a final 7th time after he turns back around. before she gets out of view she wears a completely white dress, as he turns back around it's white and red.

Where are you getting frame rate data for the game on PS5?

Ah....didn't notice that you were referring to Unity.

yeah, also I linked the wrong video tho lol... this is the right one:

and it isn't as bad as I remember tbh. but clearly something is holding it back for some reason

Nice. I boot it up recently this year and even with ps4 pro patch it still was kinda bad looking for modern times. 4k res is gonna be a gamechanger.

I know it's a bug, but considering how these games are played via DNA/computer magic, I find it quite apt. You'd probably expect some visuals glitches in the process.

Likely GPU wasn't clocked at its max. This problem happened in a few Ubisoft games and displayed low resolutions or lower framerate in GPU bound areas. We knew from leak that the GPU BC clock was set in PS5 OS and could be set to arbitrary numbers. for some reason some Ubisoft games doesn't seem to fully exploit PS5 GPU clocks. Notice in Unity the scenes that were running at 20fps are now locked 60fps while others scenes, GPU bound have framerate drops on PS5 suggesting the GPU is still running at PS4 or PS4 Pro clock (800 or 911mhz).

For the last few years I'd been regularly checking on this to see if it had been upgraded to 60fps. It's really wonderful to see. Even with it's janky parts, it's one of my most memorable Assassin Creed games.

Good to see this, will install it later and bootup my old save, need to play the DLC still. Love 9ld London setting and also stars a top boy from my old regiment Lord Cardigan, what a man, Hussar !!

Hmmm is anyone else having issues with old save files? I downloaded my old cloud files from 2017 but the game is not picking that up and always starts a new game :pie_thinking:

This game is fire. The atmosphere and setting is among the best for the franchise. I played them all back to back to back to back.

Syndicate really surprised me and was better than Unity imo, even though they were similarly good. This is between old and new AC but this is among the very best, underrated as hell
