OLED Monitor Recommendations?

Anyone have solid OLED gaming monitor recommendations? I am using this as a second screen for my PS5 Pro in the bedroom and will also use it for like light working, but not often. But it'll mostly be for gaming when I am in the bedroom.

Depending on what size you want, the 48 inch LG B5's was $650 when I got one for the bedroom about two weeks ago from Best Buy. Not sure if you're set on a monitor or if a TV will work.

48 might be too small for my bedroom, we have a 65 inch in there already that my wife uses up to watch dumb blondes in Mar a Lago

usually id tell you to check rtings, but they shat the bed so yeah.

check this guy out for recommendations or his site

There are some great 4K QD-OLED monitors out there now and the prices have come down a lot since I bought my 27" Alienware AW2725DF monitor in January 2025. That is a 360 Hz 1440p monitor though but you can now get 27" 4K monitors from the likes of Dell, ASUS, Samsung and MSI. Not sure if any of these are under $500.00 though but a 4K panel at 27" is going to look amazing for console gaming, especially as 1440p at the same size already looks stunning to my eyes.

Yes, that is what I am looking for under $500. I think there were some on sale with Best Buy just last week and of course, now there isn't LOL. There was one AOC panel but not sure if it was matte or glossy but I don't know if I care yet about that.

Sorry, 4k, whatever the hell ps5 pro actually does (120hz?), budget trying to keep below like $500 really and idc if it's 27 inches.

sorry, when I say monitor, I meant an actual monitor and not a Television.
You aren't going to find many OLED monitors under $500 at all and barring some extreme sale or used you won't find any 4K at all.

The cheapest 4K OLED right now that I would buy is the Gigabyte M027U2. It's a 27" 4K 240hz QDOLED and it's on sale for $650 right now. I owned it for a little bit and I loved it actually but I returned it to get the Gigabyte M027Q28G which is the 27" 1440p 280hz Tandem WOLED instead which Newegg had for $550 plus RE9 for free which I might just give away.

The Q28G gets brighter and I vastly prefer WOLED over QD OLED because of the raised black levels especially since I play in a brighter room. Plus despite being a 1440p panel it accepts a 4K 120hz signal via HDMI 2.1 so my PS5 Pro and Series X still treat it the same as my LG C2 and my PC doesn't have to work as hard. Both have speaker sit that matters to you as well. M027U2 has better speakers.

These are the monitors I mentioned above.

That AOC you saw for cheap was a 1440p 240hz not 4K and doesn't have HDMI 2.1 so probably not the best option for consoles. If you are using it for your PS5 Pro you want something with HDMI 2.1.
A 4K panel is nice especially at 27" but 4K on a 1440 panel looks great as well.

The vast majority of panels are going to be matte. There are only a few glossy panels out there.

Do you have a Microcenter near you?

Got it, thanks! I was looking at these at Best Buy, I wonder if Newegg is treated as a competitor and I can price match with them.

It's gonna be tough to find anything 4K under $600 in the near term. Some 1440p monitors with HDMI 2.1 will downscale the 4K image to display but supposedly still have a better quality image than native 1440p. At 27" you might not notice a difference depending on your viewing distance. You can find those on sale for $400 and under. 4K would be no compromises though.

They don't unfortunately. Plus the $50 off is a coupon right now. You also get a free copy off RE9 right now as well but it's Steam. You could sell it if you don't want it or give it away.
Newegg shipping is extremely fast though as right now you can get it tomorrow.

I liked both of the monitors so if you have any questions feel free to ask but I'll drop some quick things since I'm bored. I have a bunch of time on both. I kept the M027U2 for nearly the entire month before I returned it to Microcenter.

M027Q28G (1440 Tandem WOLED)
+HDR500 certified with 1500 nits peak. Monitor gets super bright which is nice for me. I love the brightness. I run the Peak1500 setting despite being less accurate color wise because I like the peak brightness.
+WOLED is vastly superior for me as QD has that purple tint with any ambient light
+HDMI 2.1 so on console you still get 4K, 120hz, ALLM, and VRR and the 4K will just downsample
+Stand is amazing. It's small, flat but sturdy.
+On PC it's just easier to run 1440p so I get full compatibility with my consoles as stated above with the added benefit of better frame rates on PC especially with component prices being so damn high. I need this 4070S to last as long as possible.
-Supposedly Tandem OLED has banding issues. This isn't only a Gigabyte issue but all Tandem OLEDs. Like all things OLED related it's overblown because OLED people nitpick the smallest things. I couldn't see any issues at all so maybe I got lucky but most people say that running the OLED care stuff a couple times fixes the banding and it's because of the display sitting in the warehouse so if you get banding just run the thing a couple times.
-Speakers are worse in comparison to the U2 but they are much better then most monitors.
-Matte coating (there is a GR model that is glossy coming out but who knows when plus I doubt you'll find $50 off + RE9)

M027U2 (4K QD-OLED)
+Still gets plenty bright especially in Peak1000 mode
+Native 4K for consoles + all the same HDMI 2.1 features.
+Same stand as the Q28
+Better speakers and actually completely serviceable.
-Matte coating again
-QD-OLED so raised black levels. This is going to be a OLED monitor wide issue not Gigabyte and just a WOLED vs QD-OLED thing. For example I believe the LG C series tvs are WOLED.

Interesting, I may just compromise on a better screen then. I will keep on the lookout for good 4k prices.
I'm not trying to convince you one way or the other however.

I actually thought my consoles looked better on the Q28G versus the U2. I'm only saying that because you want 4K but anything with HDMI 2.1 is going to downsample so the console will push 4K 120 and downsample to 1440p so it still looks amazing. I actually preferred the look on the Q28G versus the 4K U2 on console.

Many good ones lately.

One Im using is a Samsung G80SD
4k 32inch 240hz QDOLED.

Whats fun with this one for me, it got smart tv apps and a remote. Its a con for others.

Yep. The only real upside for monitors is the higher refresh rate. For the same price, you get a bigger tv, with better hdr and decent enough refresh rate.
im thinking about switching from the C5 to the C6 just for the the 165hz. i feel like its the best sweet spot especially with the 12bit depth.

If I had to do it again, I probably wouldn't buy OLED. Tired of all the stuff it has to do to prevent burn in.
What are you needing to do? OLED burn in is pretty damn hard to get nowadays to the point where it might as well not even be a thing anymore (not saying it doesn't happen but it's not like the early OLED tvs). I feel like most monitors and TVs do their thing during downtime or shutdown and you never even notice.

I just have to hit a button and not do anything for 10-15 mins a day. I feel it's worth it for the burn in. What's your experience like Topher Topher ?

My OLED randomly dims from time to time. I find that incredibly annoying especially when I predominantly view sites like GAF in dark mode. 10-15 minutes a day would be much better.

Got this one as well and love that it basically doubles as a smart TV, even has native Ambilight support if you get the app. Great monitor and works well with consoles, too.

Yes. Unless you're ready to spend 5-10-20-100 thousand.
Idk about that. I think it all comes down to use case. I still prefer the way my LG C2 looks in a dark room to my monitor (in say dark room because the C2 doesn't get bright enough to combat glare and I like natural light so during the day I don't like closing all the curtains unless I really have to).

If you play on a desk obviously a monitor is better but even for a office something like a LG C4/C5 42" is going to be great especially for consoles and be much better for media consumption and have vastly superior audio outside of headphones.

Well most OLED monitors don't even have speakers built in. Obviously ANY sound is better than no sound. TV's sound like shit, monitors with built in speakers sound like shit. I would imagine most folks that use a monitor, also use headphones or external audio setups or both.

Aren't 42" LG OLED TVs "cough monitor cough" not made exactly for this? I imagine in the bedroom it's not with a desk so a nice size makes more sense and to also plug your PS5 on it?

Wouldn't you pretty much lose HDR capabilities? MiniLED works well on big TVs, not so much on monitors as far as I'm aware. You would return to LCD?

I'm not 100%. I'm not going to throw away my OLED for LCD. It works fine despite the dimming annoyance. Doesn't happen in games.

Thing is both my sons have LCD monitors and they look completely fine to me. If I were going to get something else then I'd have to look into it pretty hard and see if it was worth it.

I'm on LCD for PC monitor and I'm fine with it to be honest, been looking at OLED for a while to upgrade but seem I fall always in the "next gen panel will be better" trap. But having seen HDR on my Sony miniLED TV is the biggest factor to go towards OLED monitors imo, HDR is really fucking cool.

the 42 inch TVs might be fine butI do not want to work on this lol.

Sorry to hijack, but... vaguely related, I guess. As someone who just leaves their computer on the desktop most of the day, I get the sense that an OLED would still die a quick death, particularly since I'm not really willing to change any usage habits. I'm guessing that's still true?

The G5 is the "one wall design" right where it doesn't come with a stand? The C5 has a fantastic base, love the balance and the option for the smaller stand footprint on my desks.
Yeah, i had to buy a stand for it.

Wasn't saying to go back. I just don't have a g series. I sit 2 feet from my 48c5 lol I don't need any brighter
I sit the same distance, sometimes i go a bit further when watching a movie. I use it as my monitor too. have all my consoles and the pc connected to it.
