Yep. The only real upside for monitors is the higher refresh rate. For the same price, you get a bigger tv, with better hdr and decent enough refresh rate.LG C5 in either 42 or 48 if youre okay with 144hz
Depending on what size you want, the 48 inch LG B5's was $650 when I got one for the bedroom about two weeks ago from Best Buy. Not sure if you're set on a monitor or if a TV will work.
What resolution? Refresh rate? Budget? Size?
There are some great 4K QD-OLED monitors out there now and the prices have come down a lot since I bought my 27" Alienware AW2725DF monitor in January 2025. That is a 360 Hz 1440p monitor though but you can now get 27" 4K monitors from the likes of Dell, ASUS, Samsung and MSI. Not sure if any of these are under $500.00 though but a 4K panel at 27" is going to look amazing for console gaming, especially as 1440p at the same size already looks stunning to my eyes.
You aren't going to find many OLED monitors under $500 at all and barring some extreme sale or used you won't find any 4K at all.Sorry, 4k, whatever the hell ps5 pro actually does (120hz?), budget trying to keep below like $500 really and idc if it's 27 inches.
sorry, when I say monitor, I meant an actual monitor and not a Television.
That AOC you saw for cheap was a 1440p 240hz not 4K and doesn't have HDMI 2.1 so probably not the best option for consoles. If you are using it for your PS5 Pro you want something with HDMI 2.1.Yes, that is what I am looking for under $500. I think there were some on sale with Best Buy just last week and of course, now there isn't LOL. There was one AOC panel but not sure if it was matte or glossy but I don't know if I care yet about that.

The cheapest 4K OLED right now that I would buy is the Gigabyte M027U2. It's a 27" 4K 240hz QDOLED and it's on sale for $650 right now. I owned it for a little bit and I loved it actually but I returned it to get the Gigabyte M027Q28G which is the 27" 1440p 280hz Tandem WOLED instead which Newegg had for $550 plus RE9 for free which I might just give away.
The Q28G gets brighter and I vastly prefer WOLED over QD OLED because of the raised black levels especially since I play in a brighter room. Plus despite being a 1440p panel it accepts a 4K 120hz signal via HDMI 2.1 so my PS5 Pro and Series X still treat it the same as my LG C2 and my PC doesn't have to work as hard. Both have speaker sit that matters to you as well. M027U2 has better speakers.

These are the monitors I mentioned above.
They don't unfortunately. Plus the $50 off is a coupon right now. You also get a free copy off RE9 right now as well but it's Steam. You could sell it if you don't want it or give it away.Got it, thanks! I was looking at these at Best Buy, I wonder if Newegg is treated as a competitor and I can price match with them.
I'm not trying to convince you one way or the other however.Interesting, I may just compromise on a better screen then. I will keep on the lookout for good 4k prices.
im thinking about switching from the C5 to the C6 just for the the 165hz. i feel like its the best sweet spot especially with the 12bit depth.Yep. The only real upside for monitors is the higher refresh rate. For the same price, you get a bigger tv, with better hdr and decent enough refresh rate.
I just have to hit a button and not do anything for 10-15 mins a day. I feel it's worth it for the burn in. What's your experience likeIf I had to do it again, I probably wouldn't buy OLED. Tired of all the stuff it has to do to prevent burn in.
What are you needing to do? OLED burn in is pretty damn hard to get nowadays to the point where it might as well not even be a thing anymore (not saying it doesn't happen but it's not like the early OLED tvs). I feel like most monitors and TVs do their thing during downtime or shutdown and you never even notice. If I had to do it again, I probably wouldn't buy OLED. I use:My OLED randomly dims from time to time. I find that incredibly annoying especially when I predominantly view sites like GAF in dark mode. 10-15 minutes a day would be much better.
I use:
And it seems it's almost 200 off from when I bought it.
Smart TV? That's what I am seeing. You need a Monitor!Mine is a LG C1. Probably better tech available in OLEDs these days.

Yes. Unless you're ready to spend 5-10-20-100 thousand.are you saying that these monitors are still better than these TVs for console gaming?
Many good ones lately.
One Im using is a Samsung G80SD
4k 32inch 240hz QDOLED.
Whats fun with this one for me, it got smart tv apps and a remote. Its a con for others.

Idk about that. I think it all comes down to use case. I still prefer the way my LG C2 looks in a dark room to my monitor (in say dark room because the C2 doesn't get bright enough to combat glare and I like natural light so during the day I don't like closing all the curtains unless I really have to).Yes. If you play on a desk obviously a monitor is better but even for a office something like a LG C4/C5 42" is going to be great especially for consoles and be much better for media consumption and have vastly superior audio outside of headphones.
If I had to do it again, I probably wouldn't buy OLED. Tired of all the stuff it has to do to prevent burn in.
Aren't 42" LG OLED TVs "cough monitor cough" not made exactly for this? I imagine in the bedroom it's not with a desk so a nice size makes more sense and to also plug your PS5 on it?
Wouldn't you pretty much lose HDR capabilities? MiniLED works well on big TVs, not so much on monitors as far as I'm aware. You would return to LCD?
I'm not 100%. I'm not going to throw away my OLED for LCD. It works fine despite the dimming annoyance. Doesn't happen in games.
Thing is both my sons have LCD monitors and they look completely fine to me. If I were going to get something else then I'd have to look into it pretty hard and see if it was worth it.

i use a 55 G5, and the higher peak brightness is amazing, sometimes even hurting a bit, but i wouln'd go back for a dimmer screen.im thinking about switching from the C5 to the C6 just for the the 165hz. i feel like its the best sweet spot especially with the 12bit depth.
The G5 is the "one wall design" right where it doesn't come with a stand? The C5 has a fantastic base, love the balance and the option for the smaller stand footprint on my desks.i use a 55 G5, and the higher peak brightness is amazing, sometimes even hurting a bit, but i wouln'd go back for a dimmer screen.
Wasn't saying to go back. I just don't have a g series. I sit 2 feet from my 48c5 lol I don't need any brighteri use a 55 G5, and the higher peak brightness is amazing, sometimes even hurting a bit, but i wouln'd go back for a dimmer screen.

I sit the same distance, sometimes i go a bit further when watching a movie. I use it as my monitor too. have all my consoles and the pc connected to it.Wasn't saying to go back. I just don't have a g series. I sit 2 feet from my 48c5 lol I don't need any brighter
