1348 Ex Voto Review Thread

...There are good ideas in 1348 Ex Voto, but they're undercut by the shoddy implementation of its systems. The voice cast carries the game, with several amazing performances woven throughout. Unfortunately, the whole experience is letdown by a variety of glitches, fundamental design flaws with the combat, confusing levels, and several jarring story transitions that make it seem as if 1348 Ex Voto was shoved out the door before it was ready.

Undercooked with no early access to help. I'll come back to this game much later on a deep discount (under 4.99) to see if anything has changed.

That's the part that truly amuses me.

I remember seeing idiotic posts on r/girlgamers about how much they love seeing games featuring mutants like this because it represents the archetypal "StRoNk iNdEpEnDeNt wHaMeN" shit (as if Western devs haven't flooded the market with that garbage for the past 12 or so fucking years already), but I guaran-fucking-tee not a single one of the landwhales or their little male allies (aka desperate losers) on that site bought this trash.

As for your second bolded part, hard agree. When I say I'll support titles I want to see succeed, I fucking do it unlike activists. I bought Stellar Blade and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers because it's obvious the devs from South Korea and China openly reject the feminist horseshit that Western devs love to pump out. I'm going to continue to put my money where my big mouth is and continue to only buy AAA games from Asian countries and just ignore/mock Western devs for wasting their own time and money trying to appease cunty feminists that makes hating "nerdy" stuff like gaming their entire personalities. Crimson Desert, Tides of Annihilation, Woochi The Wayfarer, Pragmata, Ananta, Onimusha, Phantom Blade Zero, etc, all look better than the dog turds that Western studios will continue to vomit out anyways.

My low bar here is that as long as you are playing, enjoying, and suggesting alternative experiences, you are a far step ahead of someone else who is simply tracking a ton of games to make sure they fail, but then offering nothing at all in exchange as an alternative experience.

Most streamers seem to have completely ignored this game so far at least.

Yeah it's not looking so good for the devs :pie_open_mouth:.

It also has just a really, really low number of reviews :pie_thinking:. These are still all of the reviews on Metacritic apart from one Playstation review. No Gamespot review at all.

Wonder where the funding for these type of games is coming from and why they continue to be funded?

The average gamer can tell when a game will flop just from viewing the trailer alone, but the developers can't.

For real. I did buy it. For $23 I got to check this shit out. Screw the demo, I want all the smoke. Steam is about to send me one of those letters telling me that I am getting awful comfortable requesting refunds...
 
Why do all these devs aspire to be Dustborn? Still, in 2026? How many massive failures have they witnessed? And they still go "yup, we want to end like that".

Make games people want to play. And with people, I mean those with money who buy games.

A lot of people think they are developers for "art" and politcal statements and not so much games. That is the problem.
