Is Directive 8020 another woke Slop?

In chapter 1 you play as Carter (young dad/engineer/takes his job seriously) and you are fixing the ship while talking to Simms (younger /bit of a quirk chungus female character) who is also doing maintenance on another part of the ship. Rest of the crew is in cryosleep or whatever.
Comms suddenly disconnect and Carter, concerned, goes to find Simms. After a couple of dark hallways, you see all 5' of her standing in a hoodie under a flickering light. She mumbles something then turns around and starts walking towards you with a blank look on her face.
Carter, for some reason, freaks the fuck out and starts running away like a schoolgirl who just saw Michael Myers. The game throws you into a stealth section where you try to sneak your 6'+ ass around the 130 lb menace. You get back to your room and then in a cutscene Carter begs for help like a little bitch and then gets attacked and killed by Simms without even trying to fight back.
Shit was hilarious.
Btw Carter is Canadian.

Eh, I think you know what it means but it seems it's the new thing to say "I don't even know what woke is" to sorta side step the issue.
Here's the thing I always go back to, how come we never had these conversations 10 15 20 years ago? They simply made characters that were what gamers and people wanted. Girls would most likely always have a cuteness to them, guys were mans man kinda guy, was never an issue until now we see these characters that look like your average every day Walmart shopping bitch. They don't have the "Look" that we've been used to forever now.

Please tell me is original Nier Gestalt considered "woke"? The main character in Gestalt was especially made "ugly" for western audience because they thought western audience rather play as ugly old man.
Is Shin Megami Tensei V is "woke"? since the mani character in that game has long hair which you could say it "feminine" male character.
So yes I truly dont understand what "woke" is in this context.

Don't worry about it, dude. When it comes to divisive subjects, there's often a tendency to shoot the messenger. The fact is that these issues exist and whether you draw attention to them or not, they'll keep existing. By bringing the subject up, those who are interested can discuss and debate it which is ideal and interesting from an intellectual and customer perspective. Those that aren't interested also have options - ignoring the thread being the most obvious one. Personal attacks on you and wanting this discussion shut down because a person finds it disagreeable are some of the things I've seen here. It's unfortunate, but it's really not a reflection of you. Long hair tho isn't an issue, madmartigan for instance in willow has long hair and he was masculine and an awesome character. As a metal head I grew up with all long hair in the bands, that isn't really feminine per say.
And imo a grizzled older dude character is fine if it it's the story.
I just think one of the biggest things we see today is a flip of girls looking more masculine and men actually looking feminine, that to me says it all.
But like I said in the 90s and early 2000s - 10, this was never a conversation, why do you think that is so?

So I guess Unicorn Overlord is "woke"? In that they have character like Amalia which is bigger than all the male characters.

But see thats cherry picking tryin to find an example when I've always said it's fine to have the one offs, look at Chyna when she was alive she was a huge girl but that's an anomaly, when all women start having huge jawlines the patterns are noticed and she went and had surgery to look more feminine, so girls want to be more feminine as well overall most of the time.
And nah, bro I was on forums since dialup... People debated abs argued to high heaven just as much but it was about what console is better, what games are better, what pc games are better... IGN an VN were nonstop arguments.
The problem is younger generations came onto the scene and think they are going to fix life's problems and then came the sjws and here we are. These weren't conversations being had for a good 30 years of my life.

I would say this issue in both side. Just like how one side call every little thing "problematic" and other side call every little "woke" in my opinion both gone beyond stupid.
I missed the time when people got offended by actual racism and actual woke crap but now people just gone so fucking oversensitive. Everything and anything is either problematic or woke…..fuck both side, thanks to them they have destroyed proper gaming conversations.

I get it, but I mean this place is very much the better overall place to be for conversation. But I still feel devs like to see what they can get away with, they really do try to just sneak things in. If they'd just prioritize great games I guarantee these woke discussions would dissipate

As far as I'm concerned devs should be free to make whatever the fuck they want and I'm free to like it or dislike it.
What I hate more than anything even more than woke BS is restricting what devs should or shouldn't make.
If devs want to put their beliefs or politics in to their own game they should be free do so same way Japanese devs are free to make character design sexy….thats their game and that's their fucking choice.
And if people don't like it they have free will they can choose not buy it….simple as that.

From what I've gathered (haven't played the game):
2 out of 3 astronauts having short hair, and a tracker/vitals vest looking kinda gay on a dude == "woke slop".
That's all it takes these days for people to dismiss a game as slop.
Like some have never seen astronauts looking like Jessica Watkins, or Peggy Whitson, or tracker vests in the real world to piss them off. not really fussed how gay sports players look wearing them or how ugly they think short hair astronauts are to comment on their appearance. Those things in reality doesn't pain people, just games can't have anything like that lest you be deemed woke and scorned.

Facts: women don't play the same video games that men do in any appreciable numbers. Never have and never will. Women have always had the games that catereed to them. The Sims, Candy Crush, Angry Birds, WoW, etc. They never have and never will play games in significant numbers like God of War, Gears of War, Prototype, Halo, Baldur's Gate, Call of Duty, etc, because THEY'RE NOT INTERESTED. It's that fucking simple.
For fuck's sake, didn't Infinite Nikki and Tomadachi do great numbers? What's wrong with that? Those are the types of games women play, not games like Dark Souls or Divinity: Original Sin. Hell, if those women who do play games designed for male focused gamers, I seriously doubt that seeing an attractive woman as a lead is going to stop them. Wasn't there a shit ton of women who identified as core gamers (the ones that are really into gaming) love Lara Croft, Joanna Dark, Chun-LI, Tifa Lockhart, Yuna, etc? Don't they play games like the Atelier series and the Final Fantasy series which is chock full of cute/sexy women?
