Forza Horizon 6 - Reviews Thread

Very predictable "review" scores for a game designed to appeal to everyone. Whether appealing to everyone is a good or a bad thing - that is an interesting question, but in regrads to Forza Horizon I have a feeling it's become way too safe of a game series. There's always an opportunity to innovate but it seems like these opportunities aren't being taken advantage of, judging by the several latest Horizon titles.

The idea that the subjective opinions of others are nonsense because they don't align with your own subjective opinions is laughable.

Especially when you haven't played the game.

The series changes host city/country with each installment, so changing the UI/HUD with each title wouldn't make sense.

I havent played the game? Wtf are u talking about bro

It doesnt make sense to have cool and fun UI hud elements or the Horizon logo being in japanese and then changing into a normal Horizon logo??

Whatever dude u dont know what ur talking about the entire presentation of this game is soulless and corporate.

Instead of leaving heavily into Japanese car culture, their stupid Horizon festival crap ruins the cool vibes.

And Im not the only one who feels that way. From Reee
Crossposting from another thread but yeah... shouldn't have upgraded.
I am disappointed in it - it's a very safe and boring sequel and I do not feel much "Japan" while I am playing it. Also the music is really bad this time? So strange.
Oh and the unskippable cutscenes with the too-serious-car-culture persons are still insufferable.

Can comfortably say this feels like the best Forza horizon in yeeeears and is delivering on what I dreamed a forza horizon game in Japan could deliver. I love it

You don't think this is still the best looking racer ever? Come on. Forget about the year and console and just look.

It's always amusing how people need to share Driveclub with the rain effects covering most of the screen lol.
Yes rain looked good but that was it.
Now show us how the game looked on a clear day.

Looks pretty good still.

People who try to deny Driveclub graphics are funny.

The issue was that its 30fps which is why the graphics are so good

I didn't say it didn't look good. I said that calling it "still the best looking racer ever" is really not it in 2026. But it's just me.
Parts of DC are dated for sure, the level of detail is not there anymore, and 30fps is a dealbreaker, but in terms of lighting and art design it's still a really great looking game. They didn't go for pure pursuit of realism like Gran Turismo but this sort of hyper real design and it worked really well. Same thing as Project Gotham, made by another British studio.

Sony not dropping a 60fps patch is criminal.

Even though I knew what I was getting into, it does feel like I paid $120 for a map pack more than ever.

I played FH4 for over 100 hours, FH5 for 40-59, and I think I'm gonna return this one. Some things feel like a downgrade to me and the rest is more of the same.

I thought the Japan setting would carry more weight with me. If I do return it, then I may pick it up again when it's 50% off.

I don't know who to trust tho…another user on here linked someone on another forum not liking the game….it must be terrible.

I dont think anyone is saying the game is terrible. The game is not terrible.but it has plenty of flaws (unskippable cutscenes, cringe forced story, not enough Japan vibes imo)

Which is why I dont understand the marks above a 9

I think the only thing you can do is play it. Could do one month of gamepass next week perhaps.

I mean, it's Forza horizon. Just like Mexico, Australia, or the UK it has the same kind of level of cultural involvement as those games. They've not drastically changed it just for Japan. But, for me it does feel exactly like what I wanted , imagined a FH in Japan could be.

Each to their own though.

I'm loving it, shrugs

why? the game play will be the same its just the graphical fidelity that won't.
SD can hardly keep to above 45FP most of the time on deck on these Horizon games on low settings so it won't be a smooth experience. For a driving game you kinda want a locked 60 minimum.

I'm all for using Steam Deck I've been using on as my daily machine for the past 4 years but some games kinda deserve the big TV or ultrawide treatment on first play if you know what I'm on about.

I've dabbled in some of the earlier Forza Horizons before, but it never clicked. Guessing this one isn't revolutionary, and is more of an iterative sequel that comes from a franchise with a strong baseline?

Almost done with the main game. 10 hours in . I honestly didn't play this long for so many years . Maybe since final fantasy x on the PS2 days.

This game is very addictive. Not including the most fun part which is actually the auction house trying to obtain rare cards.

I actually can't wait to go back home and play. Almost wanted to take the day off but I forgot we have Monday a holiday here in Canada so I'll have plenty of time lol

Not just DC. But pretty much any racing game looks good when put in that rainy /cloudy setting. Those Ride motorcycle games are similar. Looks awesome in rain and grey skies. Then watch a sunny day clip and it looks meh.

You finished the story in 10 hours? Is it so short?

I didn't finish it. I said almost finish. I still have 2 more events to go at least ( and whatever races I have to do to unlock the event for each ). So I am looking for another 2 hours give or take.

Also. I am kinda rushing it. I usually like to finish the story first to see what cars I get for free before I start doing the other things in the game. Finishing the main event is like 30% of the game. It's the other weekly / seasonal events with the new cars to unlock .

Even the Forza edition cars I only have like 4. Still long way to go. But this a 10 out of 10 game easily. Honestly the best racing game for the last 10 years.

It's not really about the story or event,it's the thrill to obtain the exotic cars and trying to secure a super rare car or super nice win in the auction. Or specific challenges to unlock cars. Then show off these modded cars that can be unique to you.

You and 10 others can have the same car, but yours can still beat the shit out of the others in a race or drag due to the way you customize the engine and handling etc.

Just pure fun . The only thing I wish if it did have like the underglow lights thingy under the car and be more I dunno neon lights / Tokyo drift movie style ? The japan that is presented is very soft and cute . Not really the underground version of it.

Granted I still didn't play half of the other modes so I wouldn't really know for sure yet. Who knows maybe one of the expansion pack is actually fast and furious style to go with the movie coming this year or whenever it's released.

Just I am at work, and I am just all I am thinking of is to go back and play lol.

When base game came out, I thought it still looked insane. Especially Norway, the snowy mountains with the sunlight hitting them looked beautiful. Very realistic lighting during ANY time of day or night. Their materials on the car are top notch too.

Obviously game doesn't look as good in a picture. It's a 30fps racing game and has massive abuse of motion blur and camera shake amongst other post fx. They did the same with Motorstorm (which are some of the best looking racers on PS3). Also since the DC is only 1080p, you know what YT does to 1080p encoded videos.

If I ever get the time I'll make some videos off ShadPS4 (which is still 1080p but 60fps now), and upscale to 4K and post on YT some of the better non weather tracks.

i mean yeah but if he wanted to play he could, I'm just playing it on pc, i'll run it max 1440p no problem.

Forza Horizon 6 is currently the best reviewed game of the year on both Metacritic and Opencritic.

Gonna be a damn shame when it gets neglected from GoTY awards just for being a racing game. 🤷‍♂️

I can't get over how drab and soulless this looks with the Japanese setting.
Its very corporate
Agreed on this, and it was my first and foremost worry after the initial trailers.

I'm sure the gameplay of this game is top notch (as usual for Horizon), but if you removed all of the billboards and signs from the city areas, it would feel even more bland than they have already made it appear. Due to that sterile-feeling this franchise continues to give off since part 3, I will buy this on a deep sale like the others.

My hot take: I actually feel that if The Crew had a sequel in Japan they would do a much better job on amping up the aesthetic, vibrancy, and fun feelings that a racing game in Japan should encompass.

Mentioned it in the other thread, but the handling felt off to me (feels like drifting, driving on ice), the character models outside of character creation look pretty bad, the wheelspin stuff feels like the same old same old (I thought they tackled progression with this iteration). I pictured the Japan setting a bit differently in my head. I dunno...I thought I would click more with it.

It honestly just feels like a $130 map pack to me...and I love these games. I'm just not feeling this one, unfortunately.

That's about all off the top of my head. I returned it.
