Sony is exploring & considering reviving some of their older, unused IPs

Sony.

It's time.

It's a crime we don't have a Puppeteer remaster yet.

In fact it should have been a ps4 launch title instead of sending it to die on ps3. It's an awesome game most people missed.

Other than this, yes Wipe Out. I really miss it.

It's good to see Sony is realizing they fucked up badly this gen and need to get back on track. I don't necessarily think reviving old and irrelevant IPs is the right answer but it's a lot better than spending $5B+ on liveshit nobody likes.

Ape Escape
Jak & Daxter
Sly Cooper
Ratchet & Clank (just kidding, back into the super hero mines insomniacs!)

Many of these games could have been major franchises, but lack of foresight and immature developers screwed them over. They did try with R&C with over a dozen games & spinoffs, but it never worked out.
Ape Escape is the best fit for a remake/new game.

They have better ip's sitting there than anything they've made this gen. Bring back or atleast release remasters of Motorstorm, infamous, resistance and killzone.

Abandoned since 2018 ?
We want a PC release đź‘€.

An absolute travesty!!!!!

Just sitting on such a fun amazing IP.
Heck they ended up closing Japan Studio (merging into Asobi).
Well then get Asobi to make another Gravity Rush game.

I would love that but we all know it won't happen. Those IP will be turn into live services and then getting cancel. That's the sad reality of PlayStation (and a major reason why so many are still on PS4, are not getting a PS5 and will not be on PS6).

I'm just gonna say it: these rumor-mongers need to S T F U. I'm beyond tired hearing them spout shit that ends up not being true 80% of the time, getting hopes up, shit turns out not being true and they just move on to the next rumor.

In most cases their only credentials for claiming to be an insider is having illegal back-access to a company's Youtube channel uploader. And I'm tired of these PlayStation game rumors in particular because they've been more wrong on those than almost anything else. We had a flavor of this EXACT same rumor from two years ago, and not a peep of official word from SIE or partners as to confirming something was in the works.

Even if it turns out it's true now, if they only decided very recently to start work, those games are at least 3 years away. And if nothing comes about anyway? These same "insiders" are going to say "Oh, well, plans change. Must've gotten cancelled somewhere along the way" or some crap like that. This whole modern rumor-culture has become incredibly toxic to discourse online, and it doesn't help that companies like SIE communicate piss-all unless it's either fiscal numbers or readying to do (light) marketing for a release 1-2 months out.

Just over this nonsense already. When (even if) there's some official news on this type of stuff happening, then I'll pay attention. Otherwise I'm not gonna listen to any of it anymore. Enough with the false hopes & lies.

Even If they revive older ips who is developing the new games?? Socom Confrontation sucked.

They don't even have the competence to give customers what they want.

Most requested game on Playstation blogshare was Socom II HD.

The only one I give a shit about is SOCOM. Playing a modern version on my PS5 Pro in 120fps on my LG OLED would be bliss. SOCOM is one game I really, really miss.

I mean holy jesus...there is NO reason they couldn't have had Bluepoint remastering their old catalogue games like Resistance, Infamous older Ratchet and Clank. Selling them in a package for a low price of like $39.99.

Stuff that doesn't need a huge budget, but would run and perform well.

It's not fucking hard Sony...yet you wasted so much time on GAAS.

G-Police
Colony Wars
Destruction Derby
Wipeout
Motorstorm
Alundra
Twisted Metal

Please.

They don't own the IP rights to Alundra, and if you're expecting modern SIE to fund a game like that (with how cryptic & difficult Alundra could get with its puzzles), you're smoking fairy dust.

Also why would they bring back Destruction Derby & Twisted Metal? You guys forget they were working on a Twisted Metal (GAAS) to coincide with the TV show but then got cancelled, right? That should tell you everything.

I would love that but we all know it won't happen. Those IP will be turn into live services and then getting cancel. That's the sad reality of PlayStation (and a major reason why so many are still on PS4, are not getting a PS5 and will not be on PS6).

It's sad but also the truth, and most probable thing that'll happen given other things happening throughout the generation. I don't care if people call me a doomer; I'm just tired of getting hyped off of lies like an idiot.

Because that's what most of these rumors have turned out to be. Still won't forget how a lot of these dude (including Nate) were puffing up the 2023 PlayStation Showcase versus what a disaster that turned out to be.

The beginning of things to come.

Who pissed on your corn flakes?

According to my searches, Sony owns the rights to Alundra as it was published by Psygnosis.

Also, accept that people have an opinion different to yours. I don't care if a TV Show spin off game was cancelled.

Lot of old IP I would like to see return- but I will echo what many have said, this is what they should have been doing as opposed to misadventures with GAAS. Or at the least both. Fine, explore GAAS, but why abandon proven legacy strategy of developing games for your hardware? Baffling.

Would love it to be true. Here are some titles I would love to see:
Gravity Rush
MotorStorm
Resistance
Soul Sacrifice
LittleBigPlanet
Infamous
Twisted Metal

Some of them could even support VR.

I'd love to see them return to Killzone, Gravity Rush, Infamous and Twisted Metal.
If they make sequels/remakes that stay true to the original and doesn't turn into a sad dad and/or lesbian simulator.

Sony.

It's time.

Honestly, with the success of E33 and its mix of turn based with real time inputs it feels like a perfect time to bring this back.

A remake with an enhanced combat system and a reworked script that keeps the core story and ideas but polishes up the writing would be awesome

I'd love a new LBP ( with creation ) , hey it would make a great GaaS and something I wouldn't be opposed of

Alundra .. for a hardcore Zelda like
Warhawk

other then those there's really nothing else that I'd get excited for , their rpgs aren't really anything to write home about lol .. maybe Wild Arms or LoD but they'd probably turn it to an action game

I hope they genuinely are exploring a revival of older ips as I'd love to play resistance on newer hardware. Motorstorm would be a good addition as I've never played the original and they looked like a good time. Make them hybrid games with a psvr2 mode and we're golden.

Ape Escape, Jak and Daxter, sly Cooper and then SOCOM. I might get interested in what Sony has to offer.

I also wouldn't want any of their western studios to handle these.

The reality of this gen.

According to my searches, Sony owns the rights to Alundra as it was published by Psygnosis.

And they've done piss-all with the IP in almost 30 years besides maybe a couple ports to PS Store on PS3 and the such. Which were probably done just to avoid risking the copyright expiring.

They've done nothing with the franchise in ages and it practically doesn't exist as a result. It wouldn't have any goodwill or fandom if it weren't for the retro scene.

Also, accept that people have an opinion different to yours. I don't care if a TV Show spin off game was cancelled.

I'm just telling you the truth of where things are, and why buying into these rumors is BS and not worth your time. If you want to waste it getting hyped over something that inevitably doesn't happen and causes you disappointment, you're allowed to be the fool. But I've been on that rodeo enough times this gen to realize it's no longer worth riding.
