Do we think City will sign another creative midfielder to complement Silva. If so, who?
I reckon City will still sign two or three more players. Is Hazard possible or has he signed up to Lille for the foreseeable future? There's Pastore too I suppose.

Is Aguero a realistic target too?

Manchester City are waiting for the outcome of Samir Nasri’s showdown talks with Arsenal before deciding whether to make a concrete move for him.

Reports on Wednesday suggested City had plucked Nasri from the Gunners in a £19million deal but those reports are wildly premature.

M.E.N. Sport understands that the Blues ARE prepared to swoop should the French ace tell the Gunners this week that he wants to go.

City have been playing down reports linking them with Nasri, but the midfielder is expected to meet Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger this week to thrash out his future.

If he fails to get assurances about a new financial deal, and the Gunners’ plans to maintain their strength, he is likely to request a move.

If that happens, City would be interested.

With the cash City have available and CL football on offer I reckon he could be; unless Barca/Real put in a firm bid for him that is. I hate to think what he would do to some of the defences in the Premier League.

Edit: The news about Teves could put him off though; if he reckons it will be hard to settle in up north

I wouldn't put it past Tevez to be telling him how great it is at the club etc. That way he can almost manufacture his own exit.

Good point; I can see City easing Tevez's release if they have Aguero on the way as a marquee signing like that would really divert everyone's attention.

Hope City aren't after Nasri though; we'll have to be quieter on the transfer market if we don't want City coming in and stealing our thunder :lol

Confirmed: Community Shield, #MUFC v #MCFC, will take place on Sunday, 7 August. Kick-off: 14:30 BST. Ref: Phil Dowd.

@stevebartram1

Oh no! City are the 'away' team. The last two trips to Wembley they were the home team.

Doesn't matter, we will make sure United's Wembley demons carry on haunting them!

Ps can we cut the FM11/12 talk out of the thread? This thread should be for real football only, why would anyone care about your simulated game? Refer to hilarious YouTube of caller who compared Fabregas and Modric...

Not to be rude or anything but I'd have to honestly say >90% of this thread actually enjoys FM and talking about it.

Sunderland signing David Vaughan it seems.

I'm really happy with our free signings. Larsson can cross a ball and take set pieces which we've needed since Sean Thornton left (what a waste of genuine talent he was), Westwood good backup for Gordon, better than Mignolet easily and Vaughan, Blackpool's player of the season over £9m Charlie Adam.

If we can get a left back and a left winger, next season could so us consolidate in top 10 which would be very nice.

Does Brown, O'Shea and Gibson fill you with confidence?

I think O'Shea and Brown are great reinforcements at the back for Sunderland. Gibson though? :lol I don't rate him at all. Championship quality at best, if I had to.

Again with the ridiculous hyperbole.

£7m Charlie Adam thank you very much! Vaughan is a quality signing for your boys, really hope you have a good season this year.

I'm not sure about that - I don't rate Gibson very highly and there are some good players in the Championship :p

He is extremely shit, though.
Apparently Brown (who will soon be 32) is getting a 4 year contract.
Bruce is my bet for first sacking.

Part of the roof of the Grolsch Veste (FC Twente Stadium) has collapsed just over an hour ago. People are stuck under debris

a) paper story regarding contract length
b) Bruce signed a 3 year contract less than 6 months ago. He's going nowhere this season unless we are looking like relegation certainties.

That's pretty terrible news. Hope the construction workers are alright - albeit at least this occurred due to current construction work and not poor construction work, otherwise we'd be sending our condolences to thousands of people during a match.

Damn, looks terrible. Let's hope everybody is okay.

So apparently, Modric's agent has said that Modric won't be handing in a transfer request. Still a long way in this window to go but Spurs so far seem to be doing a good and convincing job. His agent also mentioned that Chelsea were the only club who had made an official offer so far but that other clubs were interested. I don't think he is 100% set on a move to Chelsea. Even so, him leaving looks unlikely right now. Gonna take a huge bid.

Spurs would look absolutely ridiculous and powerless if he leaves now. Can't imagine they'll accept any amount this season.

His contract runs till 2016 so they have him by the balls, so to speak. The ball is in their court.

Just listening to this young English boy whose had a trial at Barca talking about the differences in style of football between England and Spain, saying how teams in Spain are better "...except Real Madrid". He is 7 years old.

It's just a kid, don't take him seriously.

Levy made it clear to interested clubs prior to Chelsea making a bid and then having it made public that Modric was not for sale, they chose to ignore Levy. The other interested parties have subsequently relaxed there interest. Chelsea being the force they are in the transfer market thought they could bully there way into a deal. Levy is absolutely firm on this one, I seriously doubt he'll leave this summer. He can't make a statement like this and suddenly allow Modric to leave, there needs to be authority in the board, no one will listen to Levy if they let him leave at this stage.

If City dont get Nasri, I expect we'll go hammer and tongs for Modric.

Madrid will not sell, maybe Aguero as he is on the market.

I hope we don't get rid of Karim, but if Arsenal loses Cesc and Nasri, they will go for Benzema.

Although he has worked very well in the second half of the season, I still don't think he's a likeable striker for Mou.

McLeish says Downing not for sale.

So next step is Downing has to hand in a transfer request if he's going to move.

I can't see Modric going for less than 50m as it will make Spurs look powerless in front of their players (and give Bale an excuse to do one)

I don't think Modric would want to play for Manchester City. If he goes anywhere, which looks incredibly unlikely, it will be to Chelsea.

Arsenal is going to beat Liverpool to Juan Mata. Jumping in when the Downing transfer is on the fence - smart move. Sad to say he'll do brilliantly there.

Mata won't leave Valencia unless they offer him gazzillions of moneys.
