Well seeing as they have invested nearly £1bn in City I think it's fair they can put there own flag on that plane.

---

There was an article on here the other day:

http://www.thebusinessdesk.com/northwest/

City's owners pump another £44m into coffers:

MANCHESTER City's owners have injected a further £44m into the club's coffers according to documents filed at Companies House.

The huge investment into the club and the surrounding infrastructure by Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Mansour has now topped £500m since the takeover in August 2008.

Documents filed by Manchester City Ltd show that 20.68 million shares in the company were allotted at a price of £2.12 per share, worth £43.84m.

Last year equity of £135.8m and £53.2m was issued in this manner, and when added to the conversion of £304.9m in loans to equity in January 2010, the Abu Dhabi United Group Investment & Development Limited, the current sole shareholder of the club, has invested £536m into the business.

Having been English football's the most heavy spender in the 2009 and 2010 summer transfer windows City appear to be reining-in expenditure ahead of the introduction next year of new financial fair play rules being introduced by European football's governing body UEFA.

City's revenue will be boosted in the coming year by around £40m as a result of qualification for the elite and lucrative Champions League competition.

A multi-million pound stadium naming rights deal with shirt sponsor Etihad Airlines is also expected to be announced this summer.

I wonder what the atmosphere in court was yesterday when that QC rocked Rio's world.

Some quotes from the QC after unravelling his secret, sordid life:

"the author of his own misfortune" for claiming he was a "reformed individual".

"He has misled the public over a period of years."

"reckless and self-destructive"

I reckon his face was like this:

Why go mucking about with this lot (scroll down a bit) when you have a lovely wife at home:

Nah, it's not Manchester United. it's the national team :p Think about it.

Exactly.

I wonder how United handle these kind of things internally, it's not like they can say anything but in the past 12 months 3 of their players have had this kinda scandal.

I wouldn't be going around targeting United for this. The problem is little men with lots of money, and there's probably a few of those in every team. Nothing to do with the shirt you wear.

I'm not targeting United. I'm just saying is it a coincidence? I guess cause they are all with each other for most of there working lives then they influence each other.

Wow, the amount of hubris is astounding. How about a little humility? If they think Cesc is one of those 10% remaining, why don't they pay what he is worth? Are they trying to say that he is a lesser player and therefore deserves a lower transfer fee? Barca are the best team in the world right now, but man, do statements like that make me wish someone would take them down a peg or two.

Multiple sources this morning say City are in 'advanced' talks with Sergio Aguero.

I don't think he's aware of the restaurants dilemma though. I'm counting on Tevez to set him straight :p

But seriously, we can't outbid City. We'll just go after Rossi.

I'm trying to find a picture of City's home dressing room.

I like the text in the dressing room "A place in history awaits you".

wow, I love it !

Why does Mansour not build a massive gourmet precinct ?

You know...that's actually a great idea :p

Manchester United have reportedly had a £20 (€22) million bid turned down by Arsenal for playmaker Samir Nasri.

The Guardian claims that United made their initial offer a number of weeks ago and are considering whether to meet Arsenal's £25m (€28m) asking price.

I'm finding it disappointing to be an Arsenal fan at the moment.. So many rumours and so little substance.

I hope we can keep Nasri or Fabregas and buy a decent midfielder to fill as well as Cahill/Samba or both..

Looks pretty set Nasri will leave, hopefully we play ball with Barca and hold onto Fabregas for his true worth and not bow to Barcelona's trolling/feeble attempts.. Fabregas will be Spanish captain in a few years if he plays regular football to his standards.

I'm not a fan of Man City's 'throw money until interested' approach... I am jealous of the precision and speed in which they can make signings. Oh, and their website is world class from what I hear.

Can't waif for the new season to begin! EPL is the best league in the world.

I think City like to be quiet with there business. They target a player and if they can't sign them sharpish, they move on a la Sanchez.

City's website is world-class. But it sucks when Sky Sports News are reporting a signing and theres nothing on the clubs website. It should go on there first and foremost and let Sky pull it from that.

If they get that sorted, then it's the best website EVER.

Don't want Neymar: bad attitude, diving, immaturity, selfishness.

And frankly, Dzeko made his bed and can lie in it. I wouldn't take him now out of pride.

If the English oil-igarchy decides to flail more money about for Aguero, we should just 'settle' for Rossi.

It's gonna be amusing when United sign Nasri and all the United fans who trashed him will fall in line behind Ferguson. :lol

I'll be delighted if it happens.

In other (FM 2011) news, City fucked me 4-2 in the derby. Bastards. Bastards.

Anyway, in actual news Ian Wright was brutally honest about his views on Wenger's transfer policy in his column.

Tell that to the half-arsed trolls who constantly bring it up to poke fun. :lol It's been somewhat of a running joke around here for a few weeks, though I'm not surprised it went WOOSH over your head ; )

Ps can we cut the FM11/12 talk out of the thread? This thread should be for real football only, why would anyone care about your simulated game? Refer to hilarious YouTube of caller who compared Fabregas and Modric...

Personally l'd rather go and read Man City's world class website.

It's a joke because you don't shut up about it. The movement of the discussion in that sort of direction is a constant reminder of why I visit this thread less and less. And it's the same people that keep dragging it back that way. Feel free to discuss other more relevant subjects, even if they don't involve the team that you support.

Really?

I'd love to know who these people were. Unless you mean trashed on the grounds that they thought he was moving to City for the money. Then I can see what you mean.

Copa America, friendly tours starting this weekend and Womens World Cup keep me entertained..

There are separate threads for Copa America and the WWC, and friendly tours aren't interesting until they happen. And even then, tedium (and, oh god no, an injury or two) is likely.

Thread will regain equilibrium after the first game of the season, when we all simultaneously jump to hilarious conclusions.

God forbid a bit of good natured banter in pre-season!

I've a lot more time for local (let's be honest, non-UK tabloid) sources: talkSPORT Dutch correspondent Marcel van der Kraan claims that talks between agent Soren Lerby and SAF took place in March and that Inter's asking price is £35m, as well as a deal still being possible. The main issue is presumably the astronomical wages he's on, as Hayward at The Guardian also contends.

It seems like both the central midfielders Fergie's moved beyond mere interest on - Sneijder, Nasri - will be tough to procure. And Modric, of course, looks impossible.

Which United fans are these? I remember his double-scoring contribution to Arsenal's victory over us in 2009 quite keenly. Very good player that could turn into an exceptional one if given continuous opportunity centrally.

If you're admitting you come in only occasionally, it's not surprising you missed the evolution of the joke, which was myself and dc89 commenting on the quality of the City website, which evolved to good natured ribbing from a few others about it surely being one of the dot points on City's welcome brochure. :lol It's harmless, it's only brought up in jest (and usually by other's, not me), and I think you need to relax.

Can't say I noticed your absence though, so good riddance if you choose to depart.

Several posters rubbished Nasri's second half of the season and said he was past it/wasn't a big loss to Arsenal and would be a insignificant gain to City. I can't remember specifics, but I'll go back and delve if you wish.

If I had to choose between Nasri and Sneijder; I would have to take Nasri due to Premier League experience. Sneijder is the better player, but good European players don't always travel well to the EPL and 35m is a hell of a gamble when Nasri is proven and cheaper.

I do feel sorry for Arsenal fans during all this though; they cannot catch a break atm

I'd take Nasri too. Sneijder is a lazy player and his ego is too big for him to really become the kind of team player that Ferguson likes. Plus you never know how a pampered prick like him is going to take to life in England.
