My GF let a salesman into our home

And so our OP was banned, his girlfriend was free to buy as many magazines as she wanted, another case was closed for the GAF-Detectives, and everybody learned a valuable lesson about equality... maybe... probably not. Everyone definitely learned that if you posted something stupid before, it will be brought up again. So there... That's kind of a lesson. Or half. Yes, let's say that everybody learned half of a lesson. Good compromise.

Well, that about does it for this GAF trainwreck. Until next time, I'm Lionel Mandrake. Good night.

Just think, with the search option coming back, we can have more quality moments like this on the regular

This sounds so much like me its not funny. And you sound just like my boyfriend. On behalf of your girlfriend, thankyou. The amount of times I have been almost had to buy things/ spent ages talking to strange people...

My trick now though is to look as young as possible and tell them my parents aren't home :p
That could never go wrong.

This Thread classic GAF

I can see why he be mad that she could be fooled by the guy, Anyone that go door to door in my book are to be kick out. But you cant tell your GF to not let anyone in ever she not a kid

You guys serious? Handing someone at your door signed checks for magazines you don't want in a "not so great" part of town and you think he's wrong to tell his girlfriend she has no common sense? Calling him chauvinistic because he sounded frustrated that she did this? I really shouldn't be surprised, but I am.

I woke up to this a bit too late but let me just say the following:

OP even before being banned was making me chuckle and giggle about how silly the whole premise he portrayed was. It's hard to accept that he got so much support until post history came into effect.

Posts: 165, 173, 188, 238 are all wrong. They are all talking about the same subject about whether it is possible to enforce something on someone.

Answer is you can't. And I would like to talk about this now; not as a matter of opinion but as a matter of fact.

I kind of wonder why some other person's were not punished. There was some pretty blatant trolling and baiting on display in this thread, at least from what I've seen.

Letting strangers into your home is a tricky situation. If it's someone you expect for an installation or something, that's fine, but otherwise I would keep the interaction at the door.

Letting your guard down around strangers under the pretense that you are both "adults" and that they will not harm you for their own gain is incredibly naive.

Overall, I'm really disappointed from reading this thread. I expected to read a discussion on experiences with the type of situation described in the OP, but instead it was pretty much trolling and off topic nonsense for the most part.

First thing Hydranockz mentioned to me this morning was this thread.
Good stuff.

OP seems way too controlling, has been force-fed some medicine.

My thoughts exactly, this thread is pretty surreal. :|

You know, I'm so tempted to put ANYONE who uses the words "white knight" on my ever growing ignore list! And seriously, I don't make money, my dude does, I'm taking time off work currently but I'd be offended if he treated me like that just cause he's making most of the money. But then again, my guy never acts like THE man of the house who needs to put his foot down and boss the women around or something. He discusses everything with me, granted I would't buy something like that, but if its for charity and for a very good case I'd be tempted to give away money myself.

Hey everybody, not sure what's going on here. I was bu
ttfu
cking this hot chick in her apartment on Wednesday and her b/f came home. I was balls deep and had to cover my erection up with a couple of magazines on the bedside table as she met him at the door. I barely got out of there without having to unload
my fists
on him. What a stupid dildo. He was screaming something about subscriptions as I drove away.

So, what's up?

So what exactly happened? Not sure i want to read over 700 posts to understand what got the OP banned and so many posts.

Its called common sense. She is small woman that how no way to protect herself and i care about her. Its called protecting your love ones. Just like i hope you wouldnt think it is okay for your GF to hitchhike as her way of transportation

This is how I will describe and introduce my wife from now on.

Yes, this is my wife, she is small woman.

as long as your trolling is in line with the hivemind you get a free pass

see also: abortion, LGBT, feminism, etc. etc. threads

It always happens as one of the mods said. A simple topic starts, turns into a 10 page thing and the OP gets banned. It's insane how accurate it is.

OP kinda got screwed over by the people of this thread. DetectiveGAF revealed joke threads from the past which caused a huge explosion. It was really entertaining but I have to admit the OP handled himself better than most people that get themselves banned.

The OP seemed reasonable enough to me, I'm not sure if I'd like coming home to find some salesman with an attitude problem just about to sell my girlfriend £55 worth of magazines she didn't want, just because he pressured her so much she felt she couldn't simply say no.

From what I read, the thought was in the right direction, especially since he doesn't live in a safe area according to him. But boy oh boy was the execution horrible.

And making up shit in the past didn't help either.

OP was only reasonable if you REALLY tried to want to believe he was reasonable.

He wasn't reasonable. He changed facts about his story at least once (more like twice). He gave minimalist answers starting from the 1st post. Omissions of facts aplenty. He gave an inadequate incomplete account in the first post.

How can anyone think that the first post is reasonable? Even if he handled himself much more maturely then he writes in the first post, it doesn't make his written account of what he thinks happened any more reasonable.

And I am not taking the Ad Hominem attacks on him into account either. He really screwed himself there.

And let me get back to my original point, FORCING people to do what you think is best for them (or you or the both of you) is never a sustainable solution to anything. It's not a good approach and it's not a good policy.

Message to ConservativeGAF: You don't own your children. You don't own your wife. You don't own nothing but yourself.

I'm open to discuss this though :)

Bravo! I am inspired, humbled, in awe, and a bit envious. I salute you.

I haven't read more than a page or two of this yet but...

This thread shows how asking GAF about anything just backfires constantly unless you were hospitalized or are dying of cancer. Even then, you might get posts saying "it's your fault".

I don't think it's unreasonable to not want strangers neither you nor the people in your house know into your home.

I've had one of these guys come by my house before and they gave excuse after excuse why I NEED to buy from them and I still sent them off.

.

Not true. I've created very specific request threads on GAF and have always gotten help. I suppose I'm not an idiot though.

Well I'll let you know the day I lurk OT and find a help thread where at least one or two people don't shout out "it's your fault" and use that to justify not being any help in the thread whatsoever.

Having read a bit more into this thread now, however, looks like things turned out insane.

So a few bad examples represent all of GAF? Have you only read this thread and the JBaird thread? That does not always happen, and GAF can be in fact quite helpful (after a few "Feed it pizza, which is a vegetable now." responses).

All you have to do is not be a hoaxing jackass, which the OP of this thread pulled.

The irony of this post is that the OP got so much support after the first page. And that is something that cannot easily be justified. So your conculsion was right in exactly the reverse way.

Post history will be interesting. I just wonder if people are going to go balls to the wall with it as soon as the forums come back up.

Like, if I make a post or a comment that someone may not like am I gonna have to worry about "that time" I posted about accidentally having sex with my aunt back in 2007...etc

Not that that actually happened...just using it as an example.

But yea..this thread...OP should have known better, LMAO.

How did I miss this???? Well, a great way to go out before the outage, I see you guys on the other side!

Hold my hand, GAF.

I don't think what the OP did was wrong. He cares about his gf so why wouldn't he be upset that she potentially put herself in danger. At least she had the common sense to leave the door open.

We have a nature preserve behind our house that goes for miles. There are a few abandoned houses and even a boat. My wife and I hike there together sometimes and when I saw some pictures she taken that I don't remember, I known she had gone there alone. I was furious that she would put herself in danger like that. I don't yell, but I layed into her pretty hard. She got defensive, but I needed her to understand how serious the situation was and how serious and afraid I was.

It's not about controlling someone and treating them like a child, it's about caring for someone and looking out for their best interest when they fail to see it for themselves.
