For those of you just joining us, the OP claimed to be upset that his girlfriend let a strange magazine salesman into their house, who the OP promptly told to leave, as the girlfriend is not allowed to invite strangers into the home. The chauvinistic manner in which he described it, made him seem like a massive tool. GAF called his sorry ass out on it, and he became defensive. The GAF Detectives did some research and discovered this thread made by the OP last year. The OP then claimed that the previous thread was a lie he made up for kicks. All while GAF nears ever closer to downtime. Will this trainwreck get resolved in time? Will the OP get a tag? Will this thread be locked? Will his girlfriend ever get to read a magazine?

The OP walked into his wife dealing with someone who he didn't particularly like in their house, got angry and (apparently strongly) asked his wife to deny entry to not-known-to-him people without his permission in the future. I think the reversal is an important thing to think about; if your positions were reversed, would you think that her position of being angry and strongly asking you to not let people she doesn't know into the house in the future would be reasonable?

If you think that you can make better decisions about people at the door than she can, then it's patronizing and you'd be treating her like a child. The fair alternative would be to say that if she isn't allowed to let strangers into the home without you present then you aren't allowed to let strangers into the home without her present.

All I know is Dragona was a parasite on Neogaf, and thankfully she is gone now. I have hate for her, just because she thought I made a post that wasn't in line with her feminist mind-set and got banned for it for a month. I never understood why, but I knew immediately who would take that the wrong way.

Also I miss Scarlet, she was honestly the nicest and best mod on GAF, IMHO.

Yes, of course it would be reasonable. Do you think women never yell at their husbands? Do you think women never say "quit doing __! It's dangerous!" to their husbands? It happens all the time. The problem with this thread is that people keep bringing up words like "allow" that were never used in the first place.

Nothing he said indicated that he treats his girlfriend like a child besides get into an argument over almost buying something she didn't want in the first place. Obviously if your significant other has trouble saying no to people and you live in a bad neighborhood there are certainly increased chances that scammers or criminals could gain access to your house. There's certainly a difference between not wanting someone to let others in your house because they're a woman and because they have trouble saying no to strangers.

Don't fucking tell me women never ask things like how do I "handle" my BF/husband. It's an expression and doesn't prove an unequal relationship.

I think that people rightly or wrongly assume misogyny because the OP adopts a scolding tone that sounds like something straight out of Med Men. When a woman acts like a child, she's said to be "naive"; when a man acts like a child, he's merely "irresponsible". I think that the former has far worse implications. I'm not sure whether I can judge what the OP truly thinks. But, assuming this isn't a troll, he should have known that he was walking into a cultural minefield full of preconceptions and prejudices. The way in which he worded the post was clearly going to bring with it charges of misogyny. Then again, judging by his past threads, I'm not sure if he gets that.

I honestly can't believe EviLore doesn't require mods to write in a log the reasons why they banned someone and their reasoning, that way there's accountability and also a paper trail and ultimately gives him the final say in whether a ban is justified or not.

Pretty crazy that a mod like Dragona was such a loose cannon.

Oh the way they do bans here is pretty draconian. They should atleast let you appeal a ban if it's over two weeks and give you a chance to explain yourself. Even better would be letting another mod review a ban and seeing if it's too harsh.

I have a feeling that an awful lot of people in this thread dont live in the kind of neighborhoods where meth addicts pull these scams. They attempt to get cash or a check out of you while potentially casing your home or apartment for valuables.

They strongarm their way into your home and attempt to intimidate people into giving them money for "magazines" or whatever. Often times they get aggressive when you say no or dont let them into your home.

I've actually had to call the police 3 times since I moved into my off campus apartment because of sketchy ass people attempting to do this exact same scam/casing method. The funny thing is that the girl who lives across from me did the exact same thing as OP's girlfriend and my roommates and I had to get the dude to leave.

A lot of times people who dont have experience with scammers dont feel comfortable saying no to people and can find themselves in a bad situation because of it. Letting a random guy into your home is a mistake and a legitimate reason for a roommate/significant other to be upset.

Edit: I figured the OP was a dumpass when I saw he was banned but I felt compelled to chip in on the whole scammer thing.

This is pretty crazy. I mean he is living with his girlfriend not a child. Sure you can set some rules, but determining who can step into their apartment? Come on. Even if she isn't paying anything, if she is really his girlfriend, they should still have basically equal say in how things work in their living situation.

As boyfriend and girlfiend they need to get together and decide on agreeable rules, but when it comes down to it, who pays is ultimately the one who is going to have the biggest say. If she wants equal say, she needs to come through with an equal part of that rent. You know what a man would be called if he was living with a woman, had that woman paying for 80% of the expenditures and all of the rent and yet demanding equal say? He'd be called a loser or a pimp.

It's just common sense that you don't let anyone walk into your house. Strangers could easily scope it out and rob it later or it would put increase the risk of danger if he was all the way in and the door was shut. This comes down to a game of probabilities. There is a higher likelihood something bad will happen if you keep putting yourself in these risky situations.

As two people in a relationship together, they each should have some say over who and who doesn't come to the house. That's just the respectable thing to do.
